Prison Break Recap: Troubled Waters

E_SucreGun_136.jpgAlthough I've been in baseball heaven (I'm a Cards fan), I was psyched for last night's return of Prison Break. When we left off several week's ago, the guys had found Westmoreland's $5 million and were set to split it up when Sucre pulled a gun on all of them out of nowhere. No way, I thought, was Michael's most trustful crew member and friend going to screw him over. But sure enough, there he was, shooting a bullet into the ground to make sure the other men knew he meant business.

Remember also that Lincoln had gotten wind of L.J.'s release from the detention center and had gone his separate way to find him.

Just as I'm thinking this could be the end for Michael, he takes off into the woods, with cops hot on his trail, and runs into Sucre. Turns out Sucre and Michael had concocted the robbery in order to not have to split the money with T-Bag. It is only when the two start celebrating that they realize the backpack they thought was filled with the money had actually been switched with another pack filled with old magazines. Ahh, slimy T-Bag strikes again!

While the gravity of the situation sinks in, they hear over the police scanner that the cops are securing all of the roads in the area. They are forced to abandon Sucre's motorcycle (the one he swore to his friend he'd keep safe) and toward the river by foot.

When the jump into the river, Sucre gets his foot wedged beneath a fallen tree. I thought this whole scene was absurdly farfetched but whatever. Bottom line was that Sucre told Michael just to let him die there or else they'd both be caught. Michael, being the good guy he is, said that wasn't an option and managaed to use a rope and the motorcycle to free Sucre.

Meanwhile, we see T-Bag driving down a country highway with a sick smile on his face and the huge stash of cash on the seat next to him. Who knew he was smart enough to be that sneaky?

E_SaraHide_136.jpgBack at the dead governor's mansion, Sara is in danger of being framed for the murder of her father (and in danger of losing her life). She calls one of her father's confidants for help from a pay phone, and he tells her he is sending someone to pick her up. She walks away from the phone, and other woman steps up to use it. The woman is immediately brutally shot to death in a driveby shooting, obviously aimed toward Sara. Sara tries to help the woman but when she realizes she's dead, takes her wallet, instead.

She once again calls her father's friend to tell him what happened, but she realizes midway through the conversation that he's the one who gave up her location and that he's in on the conspiracy. She spends the rest of the episode trying to piece together the clues on the paper swans Michael has sent her. She discovers the numbers on each swan are a code -- that each number actually stands for a letter that corresponds with that number on a telelphone pad.

E_KellermanPhone_136.jpgBut Sara's not the only one working on Michael's code. Agent Kellerman had found one of Michael's swans at Sara's apartment and was also trying to decipher the numbers -- with the help of a secret service computer guru, of course.

At the FBI Headquarter's, Agent Mahone is being investigated by Internal Affairs. Just as I'm getting all excited that they're going to get rid of him and all his pill-popping rage, we find out that the interrogation was all for show. He, too, is in on the conspiracy. Still we learn a key point in this scene: All of the cons are supposed to die, but Mahone doesn't think it's right. Hmm, maybe he really is on the "good" team?

Lincoln tracks down L.J. but knows he's being followed. He pays a guy $50 to beat L.J. up to the point where he needs to go to the hospital. At the hospital, Lincoln rescues his son, and they drive off together -- leaving the cops surrounding his hospital room completely stunned. The disappearing trick resurfaces! Boy, these guys must be getting good at this one by now.

Michael and Sucre manage to outrun the cops and use the little money they had snagged from the $5 million to buy a car. When Sucre calls his friend to tell him about his bike, his friend tells him that Maricruz said she wouldn't marry Hector. Awww, how sweet. Michael buys him his own car, and the pair part ways.
