Grease: You're The One That I Watched

Access Hollywood's Billy Bush is hosting the newest reality show, Grease: You're The One That I Want every Sunday night. Each week, he'll give us a behind-the-scenes look at the judges' quest for the perfect Danny and Sandy to star in the musical version on Broadway this summer. Check out Billy's take on last night's first episode.

Last night's debut of Grease: You're The One That I Want was great. Women loved it. In fact, women in the 18-34 demographic made it their #1 show. I am very excited.

Watching the show, I realized how much material didn't make it into the episode. While people got acquainted with "The Dancing Cupcake," there were a couple emotionally distraught souls they missed out on. In one case, it would have further disturbed a young boy who was in pretty rough shape after missing the cut. We learned that it would have made life very hard for him and his well being if we elaborated on his pain, so it was cut, and I support that decision. This show is about heart, inspiration and fun. Nobody needs to be left wounded on the floor. My girl Sunshine is the one that stole my heart. Not your typical Sandy, she represented the heart of this show and saying goodbye to her was harder than I expected. I called her "the peoples' Sandy" if you recal,l and she was a sweetheart full of positive energy and hope. I wish her well all over again today.

I hope you enjoyed my little tour of Chicago's north end, home to a huge Polish population, because that is where Grease began. Grease co-creator, Jim Jacobs (the curmudgeonly judge) grew up there and attended Taft High School. That community and school was the inspiration for Grease. Jim was a greaser, and his cousin was the guy who was the inspiration for Danny Zuko. In the movie, Sandy Olson was the beloved lead. In the musical before it, Sandy Dumbrowski was her name and Danny Zukowski her man.

Jim and I had lunch with his old grade school girlfriend who was the inspiration for the Patti Simcox characte. She's still that perfectly cute and put together girl -- now 63. We ate at Superdawg, the drive-in that all the kids went to back in that day. Watching Jim flip through their yearbook together was cute. He still has a crush on her. Only now, so do I.

This show gets even better, and when the live shows begin on January 28th, people will be faced with the best thing on TV. Get ready for some awesome production numbers that will get you up on your feet dancing around like crazy.

Grease: You're The One That I Watched... I've re-named it today!

I really liked it too. I wonder what the Sandy that they end up picking is going to look like. They have a very diverse group of girls.

I really liked the pharmaceutical girl. But there was a lot of talent and the dancing portion was hilarious to watch!

I loved the show! There was more talent in these auditions than the typical reality shows. Plus the fact that the stakes are high for the judges (America decides the final two for the actual broadway show in the end) makes it interesting. Love it!

Total American Idol knock off!

Right down to the British judge.
The bad people who come out and will do anything to be made fools of on TV.
The Ryan Seacrest wannabe host.
America voting to pick the winner.

Make no mistake, I watched.
And, I will most likely watch again.
But really once Idol gets going, I can see this show fizzling.

Very bold for them to air Grease season the same time Idol's season airs.

Although this show does have dancing and acting too, and its kind of fun to watch, (I admit), I cant help but smell Idol knock off.
