Grease's First Live Show!
Access Hollywood's Billy Bush is hosting the newest reality show, Grease: You're The One That I Want every Sunday night. Each week, he'll give us a behind-the-scenes look at the judges' quest for the perfect Danny and Sandy to star in the musical version on Broadway this summer.
The first live show went well, I thought. Everybody was a little nervous as there were many elements that had to come together in the moment. The kids were outstanding. In fact, they blew me away.
Bringing back the very "green" Matt Nolan and the young and beautiful Ashley Anderson, was a big surprise to all, although I'm not totally sure they'll make it past this week. That is to say, the panel may have had it right the first time with the final 12.
After the show wrapped, we went upstairs to the third floor of our studio and had an after party. All the Dannys and Sandys came in with their families, and we had fun. Max Crumm brought his 5-year-old brother who was dressed in orange sneakers, orange t-shirt, leather jacket and jeans -- just like his older brother. Ashley Spencer's parents were there and were as doting and cute as you could imagine. Austin cringed watching himself as the "west coast feed" cranked up in the room at 7pm. Derek seemed pleased -- he should have been because he was tremendous.
The audience was so loud I kept feeling like I had to yell to overpower them in order for the panel and contestants to hear me. The audio was so clear, I realized at home I do not. So next show, I will bring my audio down a couple notches without losing the enthusiasm. I also spoke really fast because we were fighting time all night. Suzy Lamb, our Co-Executive Producer and show-runner kept telling me to move it along quickly as we were "over" on time.
Anyway, I'm glad the first show is over and was a hit. I will watch the tape a few more times and make a few adjustments myself before round 2 on February 11th.
Thanks for watching Grease. I hope you're loving it.

I'm enjoying the show - I was glad to see Matt Nolan back, I think he's got a bright future if he does well with training & classes. I'm looking forward to seeing all of them again in two weeks and finding out who was eliminated!
