It's Official: Rosie's Leaving The View

E_BarbaraWaltersRosie_136.jpgAfter 24 hours of intense speculation, Rosie O'Donnell confirmed her departure from The View in the first two minutes of today's show. She laughed that it was being considered "Breaking News" by CNN. "I've decided that we couldn't come to terms with my deal with ABC, so next year, I'm not going to be on The View. However, I will be coming back and guest-hosting. I will be doing one-hour specials on autism and depression and stuff that I'm interested in. I'm just not going to be doing the everyday thing because you know, they wanted me three years, I wanted one year... and it just didn't work, and that's showbiz.. I'm not going away, I'm just not going to be here everyday."

Barbara, of course, then had to give her two-cents and say how much she will miss Rosie. "I would like to make one thing perfectly clear: I did not participate in the negotiations for Rosie. It was ABC daytime," she said. "I'm going to read a lot of 'I did this, and I did that,' and it brings back a lot of other things I was accused of doing and didn't... this is not my doing or my choice" Haha, I love that she referenced the whole Star Jones drama of last season. Love Barbara.

It was Joy, however, who had the best joke during the announcement. "I tell you who will be really sad," she mused. "Donald Trump. He's on a ledge right now saying, 'How am I going to resuscitate The Apprentice now?" Classic.

Rosie definitely made the show more interesting this season. Are you sad to see her go? Will you still watch without her? Barbara mentioned they don't have a replacement for Rosie (who leaves in June), yet. Any suggestions?

I enjoyed the spirit that Rosie brought to the show. What I find "like nails on a chalkboard-" is Elisabeth's attempted dominance of every discussion/segment. The show will now be dull - maybe I'll watch the 700 club for a laugh - LOL ;))

Marie9 said:

I stopped watching the show once she came on. I say good riddance because she is a big mouth bully and always wanted to push her views on everyone else. Elisabeth could not dominate the discussion with Rosie because Rosie always wanted to dominate. I appreciate her wanting to help with autism and other issues, but I won't miss her from the show. It will survive.

I'm disappointed to hear of Rosie's leaving the View. She made the show alot more fun, interesting and a joy to watch. Without her I think the View will lose ratings. Elisabeth is becoming somewhat of a whiner and is sooo boring, she should be the host on the way out. Good luck Rosie & thanks for the laughs!

Bring on Brittany Spears and you'll see some ratings

I am so glad that Rosie is leaving. I respect her right to have an opinion, however, am sick of having it rammed down my throat each morning. I think it is sad that instead of participating in genuine debate, she has used this platform on national T.V. to fling accusations about anyone she feels like bashing. I do not support anyone - of any political affiliation- who uses a national television program to speak disrespectfully about our president and government. There are ways of disagreeing without flinging unsupported or undocumented accusations. I am glad she is going and I hope they bring in someone who can add great conversation and debate between women without the “bullying” atmosphere. As for Elisabeth, I think she has done a good job of holding her own in a obviously outnumbered environment.

I stop watching The View because of Rosie. I also sent letters to advertisers because of her talk about 911. I won't start watching again. I can't stand Barbara or Joy. The View use to be good it just isn't now.

jt said:

sharon - get real...letters to advertisers...you have way too much time on your hands to worry about someone else's opinion. the show is called "the view" for a reason...if everyone had the same view, it would be BORING. you'd rather hear elizabeth rant about her 1942 views. for a young girl, she has extremely OLD views.
say what you want about rosie but she is the reason the show survived this year. she got the media coverage and the country talking. she did her JOB and did it well.

Paige said:

I'm definitely sad to see her go - she brought life to a show that was becoming way too stale and even though I didn't always agree with her, I respect how open she was with her "views". I think she will be missed a lot!

Susie said:

The View will not be the same without Rosie. She was provactive, interesting and brought intelligent debate to the show. Only those too ignorant to hear someone else's opinion tuned out. Ratings were up so more people than not enjoyed Rosie.

She will be missed terribly and I don't think The View will last without her. Elisabeth is boring. I do like Joy Behar but she can't hold the show on her own.

COME BACK ROSIE TO TELEVISION!!!

I miss Star! Glad to see Rosie go! Bring Star back!!!

I am so tired of being bombarded with Rosie's negative opinion of the world. I dont find anything uplifting in Rosie O'Donnell, and that is what Im looking for in a morning show. Good Ridance

Oh, for God's sake: Rosie is a pig. Donald is a pig. They need to go to some sorry State Fair and duke it out and leave the rest of the world to deal with their own lives. What a pathetic mess this all is. Barbara Walters is a shriveled, dried-apple doll of death who can barely conceal any longer the emptiness of her life. "The View" is of the toilet.

I never liked Rosie too much but she was great for "The View." She was able to bring up subjects that no one else had to nerve to bring up re the Bush administration. Sorry she's going. Elizabeth, the whiner, is the one who should be going - she's just a foil for the administration and it's so obvious.

Pam said:

I loved Rosie, yes sometimes she did get on her soap box but she was expressing her view on the different topics, I thought that was the purpose of "The View". I think she is funny and extremely intelligent. I'm sorry to see her go. Was not sorry to see Star Jones leave the show. Rosie, Joy and Elisbeth made a great team. When Rosie goes on vacation, I didn't find the show as interesting.

Yes, I probably will watch the show again.
I simply could not tolerate Rosie.

I stopped watching The View a long time ago. I just got sick and tired about hearing everyone's personal life. Yes, Grace is a cute baby and growing like a weed--so is mine. Yes, Rosie has a alot of creative talent--so does my spouse. However, he "hot topics" and other segments ere great to see. Unless the personal info exchange stops, I'm still gone.

VeeMee said:

I won't say what I honestly think of Rosie because I don't want to come down to her level in a public forum...I'm just very very glad she is leaving! She added nothing to television.

I'm delighted to hear that Rosie is going away. I watched hopping I would find out what Rosie could bring to the show that Star Jones didn't. I soon found the answer was a big opinionated mouth and a bad attitude. Rosie certainly does not bring any sophistication, class or anything else that I can appreciate.

Why the show replaced a real wholesome and intelligent woman with the likes of Rosie who is the opposite I'll never understand. Star Jones is someone that we could look up to and inspirit to be. Do you think anyone wants to be a Rosie? I think not.

I was hurt by the way she treated Donald Trump. There was no reason to disrespect him the way she did. Donald has been an inspiration to many people. A wise woman would consider a persons contribution to society before attempting to publicly humiliate them. At any rate her behavior backfired in my eyes she is an idiot.

Can we please have our Star back!!!!!!!!!

I would like to see Rosie and Donald buy a little trailer in Arkansas, fight like white trash on the lawn, while tossing beer cans at the bug light and cursing each other out until their larynx's are shot, rendering them silent!

Great! Rosie is leaving

Rosie or no Rosie, it's one obnoxious show, overflowing with obnoxious non-talent. Don't watch it, won't watch it.

Rosie can be funny, but it is her way or no way.She does not have an opened mind. I like Joy and I loved Star,I really stopped watching after Star was replaced. I think Star could have a show of her own. Now,Kelly on Regis & Kelly,is funny, interesting, and funny.Rosie has burned to many bridges...

ps said:

I am SO INCREDIBLY glad Rosie is off The View. She turned the show into Rosie's Liberal View.Everything that came out of her mouth ridiculed the American government, the war in Iraq, President Bush, homophobes, and anyone who had a conservative view on things. It was so obnoxious how she would talk about herself.Rosie thinks she is so great because she's proud to be gay and puts up with so much because of it.Who cares. No one cares about her opinions because it's forced on the viewer.I can't even count the amount of times I would stop watching that show because her comments would irritate me so much. Rosie talks about herself in such an arrogant manner and thinks every LOVES her and is so glad that's she's around. Well, no one likes that you were on the show.Everyone is glad you are off and hopes you never come back to daytime TV talk shows, because honestly, watching the show was like watching a dictator talk.It was Rosie's way or she would shut you up by inturrupting you.I hope they don't put another lesbian on.

I meant to say Kelly is funny, interesting, and smart! Thanks

I'm glad she's leaving. She sits on her soapbox and "preaches" to anyone that will listen about her "view" while she has no tolerance for anyone who doesn't agree with her or her take. The show as it is now should be referred to "Rosie's View" She's a bully and I'm glad to see her go - best news in a long time.

YES!!!! Finally everyone's views on the show will be heard...maybe even Elisabeth's (although Joy and Barbara don't let her talk either). I wish Rosie would have stayed longer so Elisabeth could have finally put her in her place. I will miss watching the train wreck that is Rosie and hearing the idiotic things that she said.

OH and by the way....
"you'd rather hear elizabeth rant about her 1942 views. for a young girl, she has extremely OLD views"

They aren't old views--they're views of those of us who still have morals. (by the way, I am 20 years old)

Hey Barbara, give it up. The show was a bust from the begining and trying to make it interesting with Rosie only shows how "desperate" you are to make it last. Honestly most people tune in
to catch bits and pieces of you all making fools of yourselfs. The only reason you have guests is because of you and they respected you--Barbara

Michael said:

Last weekend while hosting a luncheon she grabbed her crotch and shouted "Eat Me" on stage.....Referring to Donald Trump, of course. She is just plain crude, and not fit to be out in public, let alone on Daytime Television. Rosie.....don't let the door hit your enormous ass on the way out!

sydney said:

Iwill have no desire to watch The View after Rosie leaves. My son called me long distance to tell me the news. I can't believe that they would let her go. Not a smart move. Rosie was The View. If anyone should go, it should be Elizabeth. She makes me crazy. Shut up Elizabeth. I'm watching the show as I write. I'm sad. I will not watch any more after Rosie leaves. I will follow her career closely. ABC should stand up for freedom of speech. Rosie ALWAYS tells it like it is and is right on the money with every topic. She KNOWS whats going on in the White House and every place else. I feel as though you'll NEVER be able to replace her. I have often cheered out loud and applauded her while watching the show. Someone has to tell the world what's going on. The public is so blind to the condition of OUR country. How dare he (our president)he seen in public having fun and hosting parties and laughing and DANCING??? while he is killing our sons and daughters every day. Attended V.T. not soldier funerals??

Never wanted to watch it after Meredith and Star left. I just watch you now to start my day off right. Al Roker is straight up crazy don't you just love him and Meredith, Matt and the others.

KC said:

I'm glad Rosie is leaving. I liked Star and she tried to help control the damage caused by Joy's rudeness to the guest presenters. Joy should go. She is mean and very full of herself. I do not find her funny. Barbara has lost my respect for her treatment of Star, and her promotion of Rosie. Rosie ruined the show. Rosie started the fight with Donald by complaining that he gave someone a second chance. How is giving someone a second chance wrong? No one is perfect, especially Rosie. I used to like her before she started down this very self destructive path. It is very sad and she took Barbara's image as a journalist with her.

Joan said:

Yes, I am so glad that she is leaving. I stopped watching the show because of Rosie. I never like it when she had her own show. I felt she brought your show to a level of degrace. The nasty way that she talked and spoke on the show was awful. I may watch you show again depending on who you replace her with. I think your choice for Rosie was terrible. I am not sure if you again will bring on someone that is as low level as Rosie. Your choice of Rosie was terrible.

Instead of Rosie I would love to see a redhead off the show to me she is the obnoxious one. I have been told lots of stuff and I believe it. she is a sarcastic ole biddy...rosie stay....joy go.

Carol said:

Rosie is an o.k Talk Show host but needs to stop harping on the President! Her talk and negative opinions only demonstrate disloyalty towards the upsetting condition our Country is in. She like most other celebrities need to voice their opinions in a more civil manner and talk about how important it is for people to unite and come together as a team instead of trying to convince people that she is always right.

Beatrice said:

I never watched the view because I did not like talk shows and then Rosie arrived and I began to watch...I watched rosie and I liked her love to get to the point and to lead. I can listen to the opinion of dippy blondes and fake redheads anytime(I respect)Barbara Walters totally and I believe if Barbara and Rosie took over the show and let the other two wastes of time go then we would have a show. Elizabeth whines to much and Joy is just there filling a chair and sucking air. Star who?(the person who wrote this must be the same color as Star)... Rosie needs to get on her own show again and I would definately watch it(her way is her way..she is a leader and not a sheep) Good Luck Rosie in your travels and know that I will be with you...

I am sorry she is leaving. She was honest although rude and crude! Too bad she did not tell STUPID Elizabeth to shut up! That's the one that should leave! She brings NOTHING to the show, she is a moron and does not know what she is talking about when expressing her idiotic comments!

Rosie was too negative to suit my tastes.

I really don't give a hoot one way or another. I stopped watching the show. It has become boring. Rosie did not enhance it either, she is loud and cetainly no lady not an example of how I would like a woman to behave. She dominated the show and was embarrassing for all women to watch, no lady. I will see who replaces her maybe I will watch again. Barbara needs to retire as well.

Mary Ann said:

She had some great questions and comments, but sometimes she hogged the show, and ofter her comments were a little caustic and her personality become too aggressive. In the beginning, she was more toned down and I enjoyed her then.

Lynn said:

Never watched The View after Rosie went on really. She is to loud and pushy. Very domineering. Why make such a big deal out of the way Donald Trump wears his hair? Childish and low class. As long as he isn't trying to make her wear hers that way, whats the big deal.In fact, maybe she would look better in a sweep of some kind.If he shaved it off Bald, he would still look great. After The View, I wouldn't watch any show they might give her.

Who cares if she leaves, she was a foul mouth dike.

BQ said:

I really enjoyed Rosie's own talk show, but I really wasn't sure about her being hcohost of the view. She definately takes advantage of being able to openly discuss her political views. I feel show hosts should keep their own personal feeling to themselves when it comes to our nation politics. It just stirs the pot and our nation does not need that right now, the way the world is now!

Having hired Rosie O'Donnell and getting rid of Star Jones was the nail in "the views" coffin. Now look who has the real view - "GOD" - ah hah! ya reap what you sow Barbara....and I don't watch your senseless show...

Leah said:

Rosie is better as a talk show host, on her OWN talk show. That way, theres no one to disagree with her. For some reason, Rosies voice is symbolic of Janice from friends, can't stand it.

HunterBugsMom said:

I did not always agree with the things she said but I think she is very funny and really cares about people. I will miss her. I think Elisabeth should go she acts like little miss perfect everyday and I almost stopped watching because of her.

Very sad to see Rosie go, she did a lot for the view and she is making that radical party very happy by leaving. I say to Lizzy wake up blondie Bush and his cronies are BUTCHERS!This war is only about money.

ja said:

I am GLAD she is gone. This woman does not need to be in the public eye with a mouth like hers. Thats what's wrong with the world today, you shouldn't encourage that kind of behavior. God did not intend for us to behave like her. They need more people like Elisabeth.

catequ said:

I am sooo glad Rosie is leaving. She expects everyone to share her views. It is pathetic how some people really believe all Rosie says. She is a comedian (although not a very funny one; she's crude, rude and disrespectful) not a historian. Her comments are hers not the truth. Elizabeth on the other hand is educated and well spoken. At times too soft spoken. It is difficult to hear her over Rosie and Joy. Elizabeth should be the moderator. Elizabeth is more like Merideth. I liked Joy before Rosie came along but now Joy seems to be trying to act more like Rosie. Please don't do that Joy, it is very unbecoming. Someday Rosie's children are going to learn what their mother is truly like...how sad for them. Rosie needs medical intervention. She's a bully, grandious, and believes her own lies. I and not a doctor but she sounds like a person with bypolar disorder. For yourself, your children and the world, Rosie get some help. Barbara acts like she is afraid of her. Why? I am looking forward to the new View.

Trisha said:

I enjoyed Rosie on the View. To those who complain about her, just turn the channel. It will give you less to complain about! There are worse things to complain about than Rosie. Put your energy in things you should be concerned with, like the war, starving and abused children, and state of this world we live in. Not Rosie!

Sylvia said:

Hooray !!!!! Rosie is gone. How repulsive was she??? She is, as Donald Trump says, a loser and absolutely gross! How can you people expect our children to grow up normal when they here the obsene things that Rosie says or does. She has children of her own. How can she do some of the things she does as a parent?? Glad she is gone. The bad thing is she will pop up again somewhere. I heard rumors that she will be on the Today show. If so, I am not watching that show.

The moment she made those racist comments, mocking the Chinese language, I totally despised her. Comedy is fine, cuss around or whatever your style is, its fine, being yourself is fine... but the moment she made a racist joke, it was plain wrong.

Yee Haw - For 9 years I was a most faithfully "Viewer" and then had to stop due to what I had already suspected about how the Show would turn out with HER on it and it ALL happened and THEN SOME - Big Time!!!!
After she is gone, I may or may not return to the Programme for it NOW all depends upon WHO ends up at the View Table - someone with some Class and Intelligence (like another Lisa Ling) Please - that would be absolutely Wonderful and indeed most Welcome!!!!

I am glad that Rosie will be leaving "The View." I don't like her brashness on the show, and I didn't like it on her show. I feel that she is phony and angry without reason (or beyond reason). Meredith was great on that show, but she chose to go on to a more lucrative and exciting position on the "Today" show. And she is wonderful on that show as well. But I feel that Star Jones's dismissal was a mistake. Star is not only interesting and sophisticated, she is very knowledgeable on many subjects (especially the law) and often she could clarify an issue with true knowledge, not just opinion. But is an environment where the most popular entertainment are the "reality shows" which show our culture at its most base, it is no wonder that Rosie is appealing to so many. Ironically, the same type of foolish "thinking" that makes Rosie appealing is the type that has lead us into a war against people who have done nothing to us. We as a society don't want to think; we want to be entertained by buffoons.

SOOOOO glad to see Rosie go! I use to love her. Then she came "out of the closet" and became just down right mean. I am not judgemental of lesbians, etc....if that is the life she chooses to be happy, more power to her!Although, she seems to have turned into a very angry person. She obviously has some deep seeded issues. I stopped watching the View when she joined the team. She is so angry and bitter, she takes it out on the show, and hates everyone and everything. She is down right depressing! I can do without her "View".

There is a difference between creativity and nastiness, between freedom of speech and nastiness, between spiking ratings and nastiness. Rosie never learned even the basic manner. I don't care if she is a lesbian or not -- I don't want to hear about anyone's personal life. Rosie is angry, domineering, arrogant, crude -- and just plain nasty. The world has lots of built-in ugliness and negativism and anger. There is nothing to be gained by putting a person full of this (and herself) such as Rosie. Daytime TV will be better for her absence.

Liz said:

I stopped watching The View last June after Meredith and Star left. Joy has always been annoying. I think that is time to end the show and for Barbara Walters to retire.

Andrea Bailey said:

It appears that Rosie is more interested in bringing attention to herself by any means and certainly not by expressing intelligent ideas and opinions. It is very sad that someone in a position of opportunity is unable to use it to make a positive impact to benefit and help others say like Oprah does. Rosie is very much full of herself. She comes across as very hateful, sad and pathetic. I believe her to be a very lonely individual and she will continue to be so as long as she lives as if it is all about her. I was very disappointed when I learned that she was to be on The View. I could not fathom what purpose she would serve by being on the show. Rosie will not be missed now that she is leaving. She can not leave fast enough. Celebrity comes with responsibility and accountability. Rosie falls way short in all categories.

I work during the day so I don't see the View very often. As for Rosie I could care less one way or the other. I do wonder though what is Elizabeth's claim to fame. It's like they took a nothing an put her on T.V. What's up with that? Happy to see Star leave. Could not stand her whinning voice.
When I have seen it I can't stand that almost always they all talk at once. It is very confusing to listen to all of them at once.
