Dancing with the Stars Finale!
Is it time to say goodbye again already? No more mambo on Tuesday nights? No more Bruno and his bizarre metaphors? What are we going to do with all of this newfound free time? For the Dancing with the Stars season finale, all of the couples returned to the show to make their special appearances. So if you happened to miss out on Paulina Porizkova's short-lived stint as a ballroom dancer, this was your last chance.
In order to really appreciate the spectacle that is DWTS, we must examine the history and reach of the Dancing with the Stars phenomenon and of course enjoy a little dancing exhibition from the professional side of the cast. We also got to hear from the previous champions from the earlier seasons of Dancing. Am I the only one who misses Emmitt? The remaining couples performed routines they selected from past performances. Here's how it went:
Apolo and Julianne reprise their intense paso doble from a few weeks ago which really seemed to capture their dance floor dominance since then. It was perfect then and it's perfect now, earning the energetic couple with a perfect score of 30 out of 30.
Joey and Kym struck back with their Jedi tango, a dance that originally only scored a 24 out of 30. The couple wanted to show how they've grown and improved since the early routines. It seemed to work, Bruno quipped "You're like a method dancer." Even Len and Carrie Ann seemed to be impressed with the progress. This dance earned another perfect score of the evening.
Laila and Maksim also picked a dance that came early in the season with the mambo. This was one of my favorites that Laila performed during this season, so it was nice to see her playful, yet strong, attitude coming through. They too showed their improvement and scored a perfect 30 out of 30 from the judges.
After combining these scores with last night's votes and judges marks, the super secret DWTS tally machine produced the results that left one couple in third place and out of the running for the title. This season, it turned out to be Laila and Maksim who didn't make it to the final two. But who would take home the much-ballyhooed mirror ball trophy?
Just when the booted stars thought they were off the hook for dancing, they were forced back onto the floor for one final showcase of their best dances. Even a Heather Mills back walkover. And Billy Ray and his mullet. Ah ... good times. Not to be left out, Jimmy Kimmel and his trusty sidekick Guillermo made one last appeal to viewers by pitching their "how to dance" DVD. The best part about this was a cameo appearance by Clay Aiken. If there's one thing about DWTS that I love, it's that you never truly know who's going to come out of the woodwork.
But enough of all of that ... what we really want to know is who comes out on top! Yadda yadda yadda, filler jokes, filler interviews with past winners, filler film clips of their "journeys". Apolo & Julianne ... Joey & Kym .... Apolo & Julianne or Joey & Kym? The moment of truth had arrived, not only the pinnacle of Tom Bergeron's smugness, but the revelation of who would take home top honors. Once again, our awesome TV Cocktail readers were right when they predicted the winner to be Apolo and Julianne! I know we'll have a lot of happy Apolo fans. Joey and Kym were good sports as always and that wraps up another wild season of Dancing with the Stars! Who were your favorites this season? Hurrah! Yippee! Yahoo! Congratulations Apolo and Julianne! Apolo is a great role model for kids. Joey is a class act and very gracious.
Hope Julianne comes back next season.

Joey is a baffoon. I am so glad we don't have to see his stupid, fake, and cheesey "smile" any more! His corn-ball routine is pure sacharrin -- totally artificial. I hope we don't have to see him in commercials now.
Juliane was the real star of the show.
Loved the Jimmy Kimmel skit with Clay Aiken, he has really turned into a very handsome young man.
Glad to see Apolo win. He and his partner did the hardest dances every week and showed the most skill. Amazing to think they were so young yet so professional and good. The Kimmel skits are always so dumb they are good. This one was a definite winner. Funny to see the moustached attached to Aiken. He pulled off the acting part pretty good, keeping so straight faced when it was so ridiculous, which is what actually made it good in a weird way.

Everyone was really good this year, and the final three were first rate. It's been a very fun show to watch this season!
Loved the Kimmel skit. Clay Aiken was hilarious. He's got some funny bone skills.

Hope Julianne comes back next year! Her brother, Maks brother, and of course any of the pro dancers can come back! Especially Maks, Louis, Jonathan, Cheryl, Tony, Elena and Anna!

DWTS rocks! can't wait til next time. but somebody please tell them to cut the filler material down some. After the first hour, I was like "what else can they do for another hour?"

I think the right couple won!!! Joey was good too, but Apollo was terrific last night.

Kimmel skit was cute, and what a welcome surprise to see Clay Aiken again. Wish he had been the musical guest!!!!
Was thrilled Apollo and Julienne won. Joey was much too confident and not a smooth athletic dancer. Was an enjoyable season. This time the voters chose the right couple. I can't say that for past shows. Apollo has a natural ability to dance - perhaps it is his ice skating background. Hope he wins more medals in ice racing or whatever you call it.

Congratualions Apolo and Julianne. You were my first picks from the very start beginning of the show to be the winning champions. And you proved me right! Apolo you were awesome, you definitely showed your competive side and showed us all that you are a true winner. I am soooo happy you won. Joey on the other hand was good too, but he came off as being too arrogant, and that was a BIG turnoff. I think if Joey were to have been more humble and not so cocky and overly confindent, he may have had more votes.

I was hoping for Laila or Joey, I can't believe you thought Joey was getting cocky??? If anyone Apolo got too big for his britches! I still think Laila should have won or Joey.
Apolo and Julianne had something special from the very beginning. There was an intensity in their performance.
I thought Laila showed an awful lot of talent and was a wonderful role model for women everywhere. I do think the sensuality of the latin dances was her strength.
Joey had flash, but I totally agreed with the judges that his cha cha lacked much of the cha cha dance element.
Although Billy Ray lacked finesse on the dance floor he was entertaining to watch.
I do feel that Apolo truly deserved the award.
I was so glad to see Apolo and Julianne win. They really had more chemistry than any of the other couples. I also was impressed with Heather and Laila. These (2) ladies had obvious disadvantages over the other femail dancers.

Agree with above poster that Heather and Laila were great and had a disadvantage the other female dancers. I kept thinking there was a little something missing in Laila and Maks performances and eventually realized that since Laila is a healthy 5'11" and 161 pounds that Maks could not possibly be lifting, spinning, and throwing her around! So, to not be able to do all that "razzle dazzle" type activity, I think she and Maks were great and the dances/moves they did were very entertaining! Heather was a good dancer and there was no need to feel "sorry" for her from the judges and I thought her scores were spot on.

The top three were the right top three, and I bounced around between all three throught the whole season. Laila I thought was better in the earlier shows. Joey charmed his way into our hearts and proved that a great attitude and smile help people to look passed your stature, a shout out to Joey from all us big folks. We too can dance!

I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE SHOW THIS SEASON. I'M SO HAPPY APOLLO AND JULIANNA WON, I DO WISH THEY GO ON TO DO MORE DANCEING AND ALSO, THEY WOULD MAKE A CUTE COUPLE IN REAL LIFE. IMAGE WHAT THEIR KIDS WOULD LOOK LIKE, AWWW CUUUUTE!!

I think Apollo & Julianna very much deserved to win. They were absolutely great and were my pick from the beginning of the show. They were very hot & sexy and they looked great together.
OMG I have been watching Dancing with the stars since the first season I love the show so much!
