Age of Love: July 23 Recap

The Claws are Out
Jayanna seems to be on a rampage early this episode. She calls Maria out on her flip-flop with Mark - - kinda, she never really attacks her. After one confrontation, she proceeds to lecture everyone about their feelings on Mark. I used to be a Jayanna fan…now I’m like Maria in the fact that I’m feeling a little flip-flop.
Mark C. comes into the ladies suite telling them about a camping trip where one lady won’t be coming back. They have 20 minutes to pack, which is impossible for even a low maintenance gal like myself. Amanda seems ready to go camping but Megan is a bit apprehensive.
Jayanna proclaims this is her event. She is a camper. Then she holds secret counsel with someone (was it Jen?) about strategy. Geez, I’m feeling very Survivor right now.
Camp Lottacrazy
Once the RV pulls into the campsite with Mark and the ladies, he leads them on a hike to their campgrounds. As they hike, we hear a voice-over of Mark rattling off what he likes about each woman. Megan is bubbly. Amanda clearly feels passionate about him. Jayanna is always in her element. Maria calls him out on his crap, and Jen is hot. Blah, blah, blah. Pretty boring stuff actually.
I like the whole camping idea. Getting the women outside the lap of luxury, nature can hold counsel with their emotions. However, I really don’t care to hear the petty arguments about to erupt. I know this is a competition for “love.” However, I guess I’m idealistic about love. I don’t think fighting over a guy would be very fun or romantic. I want to be courted, I want romance, and I don’t want to kiss a guy who just made out with my roommate. I wouldn’t find the right guy from a situation like this.
Early on, Maria took Mark for a walk to explain how she felt about his treatment of her. She basically mounts him while sitting on a tree, and he goes in for a kiss. Then she set the tone for each woman. Jen pulled him into a tent to spill her heart.
After that, we start to watch fun and games. They play Truth or Dare where Jayanna and Mark bear their bottoms. And Maria goes for a truth and Mark asks if she’s attracted to him. Then she straddles him and has a “spiritual” moment. Jen laughed at the moment while everyone else stifled their giggles. So Maria went off on Jen about women empowerment, which makes me think Maria is a slight psychopath. They all take themselves WAY to seriously being on a reality TV show. Jen gets upset from Maria’s attack so she walks away to cry by herself. I don’t blame her. It was an uncomfortable situation. Mark gets upset that Maria made Jen cry so Mark chases after her.
Jayanna then pointed out the 20 year olds laughter. Causing her to start fighting with them. Jen comes back over after being coaxed by Mark. She apologizes to Maria and they hug. Mark’s confessional says he knows Maria’s an emotional person but he’s not sure he can be with someone like that.
Mark asks Megan for a walk and then he holds her while they chat. Megan was clearly drunk so she really couldn’t even articulate her feelings. Therefore Mark brought her back to camp and cut her off from alcohol.
Mark grabs Jayanna for a walk. Apparently he wants to take her on a special walk. GAG! Sometimes his cheesiness really oozes through my television screen. And the stench of his act makes me want to vomit. If he planned these trips or he had a hand in the way his reality dates were conducted, I’d feel more sympathy. The minute he takes her to some sort of light tent thing, I had enough. It made me laugh because … well how lame. Clearly the producers of the show put on this light extravaganza. It may have been sweeter if Mark came up with this idea on his own but he didn’t.
Random Observation: Jayanna acts completely different around Mark than she does around the girls in private. It is beginning to get on my nerves.
Amanda cries to Maria who truly listens to her and comforts her. I think Maria is a friend to all, probably because she is such a weirdo about female bonding. Who knows?
Jayanna says she loves Mark during one-on-one. Well duh, you dumb broad; that’s when the attention is focused on you. So when they laid down on the hammock and start making I wanted the whole thing to flip over. I NEED COMEDY PEOPLE!!!
And Amanda comes to the comedic rescue as she looks for them in the woods. I know this is not meant to be funny but it’s so pathetic. She wraps herself in her sleeping bag to break up the date. Eventually, she gives up. She returns to the campsite, crawling into Mark’s tent. I would feel bad for her if she didn’t get the date, but then she goes all Fatal Attraction.
Jayanna talks smack about the other women in the hammock. I am finding myself not liking ANY of the women. Maybe Jen. I do like Jen. She seems so sweet and in control of her feelings. So Go Jen!
Back in Mark’s tent, Amanda lays there like a stalker and he goes into his tent surprised. I CRACKED UP. Anyone else find that hilarious? Jayanna flipped out when Amanda was in Mark’s tent. She clearly wished she was there. It was so funny. She basically called her a hussy…thinking “man, I wanted to sleep with him.” I mean sleep people…not sleep, sleep. Dirty minds.
During pillow talk with Amanda, Mark basically reassures her that he is not saying the same things to all the women. LIAR, LIAR pants on fire. But to make things better, when he asks who gave Amanda such a horrible idea about him, she sells out Jayanna. This is cats, claws, and only one mouse to share. I laugh, and I keep laughing…and I feel bad because these women all think this is the most serious event of their life. I give Mark and the final girl a relationship time period of 6 months at most. This is not Trista and Ryan from the Bachelorette series. This is Age of Love.
Wakey, Wakey…Emotional Earthquakeys
The next morning Amanda says she hadn’t planned on sleeping in Mark’s tent, which makes me think, “Yeah, right!” She exits and he exits a little while later.
Then at breakfast, Maria asks if any crazy shenanigans happened. Then she talks about how Jayanna slept with Jen, and Megan slept with Maria…so where was Amanda? She confronts Mark head on about his sleep over, but Mark does what he does best…avoids direct answers. He’s the king of deflection…and Maria calls him out on that. Maybe Maria is going home. I wouldn’t be surprised. She’s acted like a looney toon.
On the other side of delusional, Jayanna keeps reassuring herself that Amanda is not welcome. And it kinda makes me angry. Why can’t she just mind her own business? She can only focus on her competition. She never admits anything she does wrong. EVER. And it gets on my nerves. Maria says “maybe I’m going home for my craziness.” Megan says “Maybe I’m going home for my craziness.” Jen thinks “Maybe I’m going home.” (*NONE WERE DIRECT QUOTES!!! Just my interpretation of the confessionals.) Humbleness does not come from the mouths of Amanda or Jayanna…they only point fingers at each other. I think this must be because they think the other one is their biggest competition.
Elimination
Mark must eliminate one of the women in the woods. He takes Jen for a walk declaring her a contender. Yay Jen! Next up Amanda. Of course, she’s staying in the competition after their cuddle fest. Maria next. Mark praises her for being who she is. And he asks her to stay. Megan and Jayanna left standing…
And he eliminates…JAYANNA. WHAT?!? It’s nuts. Special date and she’s out. I never dreamed her to go home so soon. I loved her…and this episode she annoyed me…and now she’s gone. Super weird. Super, super weird. Mark feels like Jayanna was playing games. Then he got pissy. And it was hilarious. He never gets mad…and here he is fuming. And there was no hug goodbye for Jayanna. He just walked away…pissed. I laughed…laughed and laughed. He clearly trusts Amanda over Jayanna. Jayanna fought for her cause to no avail…what did she think, he would turn around and kick someone off the RV?
THOUGHTS?!?
I would love to hear your thoughts. Can you believe Mark’s anger at Jayanna? Who do you think will win his heart now? I’m actually in disbelief still. Someone give me some feedback so I can analyze this tug of war.

I was pretty surprised that Jayanna was eliminated, but In a way it's also hilarious. She was so cocky and determined that she was going to end up the victor. The whole thing is pretty lame in general. Lets face facts, Mark is famous, good looking (sort of), and rich yet he needs to go on a reality show to find "love" Please! He is as phoney as Amanda's boobs. Ultimately I think he is going to choose her because she is so naive/delusional about him. I think he is the type that really wants a weak woman so he can be in control.
I admit I have gotten sucked in by the drama of this show as I watch it on the treadmill at the gym.
I wasn't expecting Jayanna to go.
Man what a waste, I love this show and it totally turned. Amanda was pathetic to wander in the woods like the Blair Witch Project on a Mark and Jayanna witch hunt. Jayanna got hoodwinked, she was my favorite but drinking made not only the ugly but the true colors come out, Amanda has been conceited and playing on her own emotions with the Yes and No and even a maybe he likes me? wishy washy. She needs to put her game face on and fight for that man and quit worrying about the other girls. I did find her crawling in Marks tent quite hilarious indeed. Maria I disliked for some reason and that reason showed she came off to me like a ticking time bomb that had to be defused. Megan is a ditz.Jen would be my second fave to Jayanna so its any womans game I suppose, it is turning into an episode of the three stooges and Shemp is about to slip in a puddle of Amandas tears.
I can't believe Jayanna is gone. Mark should have called her aside to discuss what Amanda told him...not just take it as fact. By the time he did talk to her, Jayanna didn't have a chance. I think Mark is so hung up on Amanda that he has already made his mind up -- so get rid of Jayanna since she seems to 'treaten' Amanda.
I was not surprised that Jayanna was eliminated after Amanda tattled that Jayanna was playing head games with her. Mark has already made up his mind - "one of these women could be the mother of my children" - please.....I just can't decide if it will be Amanda or Megan. He was previously engaged to a 17 year old and Amanda has shown that she can plays games. My bet is Megan....childlike, seeminly innocent, brainless and easily led.
I am glad Jayanna went. I think we started to see in the past few episodes how mean she really was. And that's with the producers trying to make the 20s look stupid (as if they needed any help). Imagine how nasty she must have REALLY been. I loved her in the beginning, but she showed herself to be just awful.
Of course, now I don't like ANYONE except Jen. Maria is crazy as crazy can be, Megan is a moron (I always forget important things!), Amanda is a stalker . . . so Jen is it.
But, really, I think Amanda is going to win -- I think Poo just wants someone who's in love with him (think about his response to Megan's mixed feelings -- he wasn't concerned about whether HE liked HER, just that SHE didn't like HIM). It's not like he's sporting the highest IQ, so who would expect him to make a reasonable choice . . .
Oh, and I should point out that I actually had respect for Mark for the very first time when he called Jayanna out on her behavior. It was pretty funny to see him mad!
I was freakin glad to see Jayanna go. She was such a BITCH to evryone. I couldn't believe it! I like Jen. She is such a swetty and she knows what she wants. I like that Maria is truly knid to all the girls. Except Jayanna, which is cxool by me! Although, Maria does have some psycho tendencies... Megan is hilarious! She's just cute young girl having fun. Honestly, don't think he will pick her. She dosen't seem to serious about the whole competion, but I do like how laid back she is. Now for Amanada. She is totally my fav. I really don't know why, but I just love her. I think she will win this thing!!!!!
The young girl, is it Megan, should go!!! She is a total idiot. But weren't we all at 21???? I think Jayanna was just telling the truth. People don't want to hear the truth. They only want to hear what makes them feel good. So, there is no way this show can be happy. They are fighting over one man!! Men don't realize the competition betweeen women. It wouldn't matter if he had no teeth, no hair and no money they would fight because he is the ONLY man!!
Wow, I'm glad that Jayanna is gone! She was such a manipulator. I have to say one thing though, I think Maria should have gone too. This wishy washy stuff of I'm going, no I'm staying, no I'm going has got to stop! She said that she didn't feel a connection with Mark the first time she said she was going to leave but changed her mind when he asked her to stay. I really don't think that age is a factor because my husband and I are 15 years apart in age, him being older, but Mark keeps saying that maybe one of the women is the future mother of his children and quite frankly I don't see either of the 40 year olds having children at their age, don't even know if they can or can't have children anymore. I'm really rooting for Amanda even though she gets a little emotional over him sometimes I just think that Megan is an airhead and hasn't really shown how she feels for him the way that HE wants her to. I can't wait for the next episode!
Mark is the man for trusting his gut and eliminating Jayanna, who exposed herself as a ruthless bitch to the younger women. I think its between Jen and Amanda, they are both sweet and attractive.
Personally I think Mark showed his immaturity last night. To put any value in what someone is telling you instead of going directly to the source is absolutely ridiculous! Janyanna is now the second woman Megan has whinned to Mark about and he has eliminated the following day. Mark and Amanda deserve each other!!
Correction on earlier post:
Jayanna is now the second woman Amanda has whinned to Mark about and he has eliminated the following day.
I think from the get go, Mark was never into Jayanna period. That's why she's out. Since most of that evening date is planned by the show anyways, I don't think it mattered to him. I think he used what Amanda said as an excuse to get rid of Jayanna.
I personally don't think he's into any of them; if anything he'll choose Amanda because she's extremely codependent, needy and fuels his ego.
All the women are expert manipulators and make that very evident througout the show. I found Jayanna's attempt to excuse herself at the end as pathetic. She should have just said "look buddy, seems to me like you've made up your mind, you CHOOSE to believe Amanda, who for all you know is playing you like a drum; it's obvious it's not meant to be with us- so move on!"
Mark has stars in his eyes for Amanda. End of story!
I was totally shocked that Mark eliminated Jayanna. The episode was hilarious, especially when he got upset with Jayanna and accused her of playing games. Mark, wake up. I can not believe he does not see or realize what Amanda is doing. She whines on two people (who were clearly her competition) by putting them in a negative light and they get eliminated. I agree Mark showed his immaturity last night.
Jen is the only lady left that I like. Although sheâs 48 (thatâs a bit too old for Mark) she has more to offer Mark than the other three when it comes to character, emotions, beauty and overall goodness.
Megan is way too young. Sheâs not completely out of the adult similac stage.
Mary looks her age. I like her confidence, but I donât see her and Mark lasting.
Amanda is a stalker and manipulator of words. She appears to be emotionally unstable.
Jayanna, sorry to see you go. If you want to try an older (more experienced) tennis player that is also geographically desirable, I am here for you;)
I AM SO HAPPY JAYANNE LEFT!! SHE SAID EVERYONE ELSE IS JEALOUS BUT SHE WAS THE ONE PLAYING MENTAL GAMES!!
I AM SO HAPPY JAYANNA LEFT!! SHE SAID EVERYONE ELSE IS JEALOUS BUT SHE WAS THE ONE PLAYING MENTAL GAMES!!
I AM SO HAPPY JAYANNA LEFT!! SHE SAID EVERYONE ELSE IS JEALOUS BUT SHE WAS THE ONE PLAYING MENTAL GAMES!!
BYE BYE BABY BYE BYE
I think that Mark probably wanted to eliminate at least 3 of the women last night. Jen's my fav, but I don't see her having any more kids in the future at her age. I don't think that any of these romances will last. I think that it will be down to stalker Amanda and Jen. FAKE MAMBO BOOBS VERSUS BOTOX.
I really thought it was hit on the nail when it was written that neither Amanda nor Jayanna were humble. I think they need a dose of "reality" on this reality show, and that's what Jayanna got. Perhaps she will never be humble, but it would behoove her and everyone to be more humble. Some people simply believe they are "all that" and that the world revolves around them. I almost hope he does not pick Amanda, am fairly certain he will not pick Maria, but think it's possible with Jen or Megan if he gets to know Megan more. I think the only reason Megan doesn't know how she feels is because she hasn't gotten to spend any time with him and that's not her fault - it's his fault as he just started spending time with her 2 weeks ago which is not fair to her really. But Jayanna was playing games, so good riddance to her!
I am glad Jayanna is gone. I have no idea who he should end up with, but my money is on Amanda. I got the feeling during the tent scene last night that when the behind the scenes truth comes out it will be that he planned on picking Amanda all the time. (Could her boobs be any more cantaloupe like?) Even with the fake boob thing, I think she and Mark are a good match. Age appropriate, emotionally compatible---I am so damn glad I'm 42! I am a non-television watcher and my 15 year old daughter go tme stuck on this show. The making out definitely grosses me out in light of the multiple partners within an hour thing. EEEwwwwwwww. Oh well, can wait for next week.
I liked JAYANNA in the begining but she quickly showed her controling side. I
think MARK always liked her as a friend but was never attracted to her.
MARIA needs to go. They have nothing in common and I think her wishy washy behind is next.
I hope he'll pick AMANDA (if I could choose amongt many suitors, I'd certainly pick the one who loved me the most).
MEG... Boring......
My fave is JEN but for heaven sake, why would a 30 year old man looking to start a family marry a woman knocking on menopause door ? They are too many young, fertile, and childless women available (to a rich athlete) to end up with a woman whose son could be your brother. Yikes.
Shakespeare said it best: "Much Ado About Nothing." TV reality shows are, in effect, a manifestation of the inane consumerism and empty image projection which is contemporary America. We're suffocating in fake boobs, Botox and faces made monstrously tight like masks. "Age of Love" - ah, let me quote Shakespeare again, "What's in a name?"
I agree with the last poster. Jen has been my favorite, hands down. My Lord, when I first saw her I thought she looked like Vanessa Williams! However, she is 18 years older than him. It's unfortunate, really. It will probably be Amanda. I also have to say I just turned 30. I am no closer to 20 than I am to 40. This show has made me excited about getting older, b/c in almost every light the 40s look better than the 20s.
Every single one of them, including Mark, is either delusional, totally sadistic or a closet masochist. The very fact any of them are crazed and / or pathetic enough to go on the show pretty much says it all.
That said, glad Jayanna (queen psycho) is gone. Did anyone else find her bizarre way of speaking really creepy? She sounded like she was on some serious drugs.
In the end I think he'll go for Amanda the sad little stalker, or Jen who looks like she has one of those face lifts where the skin is pulled too tight.
The whole thing keeps me up at night, its that disturbing and I cant seem to stop watching.
Does anyone think Megan looks a little like Jessica Biel? Sorry if someone already pointed this out!
Also, Jen looks her age. I can see her wrinkles when she laughs but that's a good thing...makes her more attractive.
I TOTALLY agree that Jayanna acted like a diff person around Mark then around the girls.
At first she seemed real, but as the show went on, it became clear that she knew how to turn it on thick around Mark, but her true colors came out around the girls.
Glad she is gone.
Really there is no one there that I think is all that great.
But Mark is not that great either.
There are women writing Mark in Greek on his blog! pathetic. http://groups.ivillage.com/ageoflove
The game is over: Mark has likely chosen Amanda, which is pretty funny. She's as fake as her "hugely unreal attributes", which make Pam Anderson look "au natural." While Pam is known to be nice, Amanda is a ruthless, amoral little girl. I sure hope Mark enjoys it while he can, cuz her "attibutes" will fade fast when he has to deal with stalking, immaturity, whining, baby-talking, backstabbing, lying, pettiness, manipulation, etc. - all strong Amanda traits readily displayed on the show! Poor Mark. So snowed! Why can't he see beyond the huge headlights and fake personality? There are scores of women like her: Amanda will likely be the same ruthless, manipulative, shallow little girl at 50! Can you imagine how unnatractive that will be? Realizing that the show must have been shot some time ago, I fear that Mark has already chosen Amanda, and I can't imagine his relationship with her succeeding. It will be fun watching that car wreck happen. And it will be carnage. I just hope there will be no kids involved...
I think that it will come down to Jen and Amanda and Mark will ultimately choose Amanda because although I beleive he really likes Jen, she is way to old to be the "mother of his children" and being the competitor that he is, he probably wants a trophy-looking wife and Amanda fits that bill.
That was sorry how Jayanna was stabbed in the back with lies from Amanda..and Mark was stupid to let her go..Jayanna would have been the best out of them all, if I had a chance I wouldn't mess it up..Jayanna IM me on Fubar.com..I'll be glad to talk to you...I'm 43, and I'm happy where I am at my age too...well, take care..and Mark was the stupid one and he'll find that out the hard way when he picks one of the disturb emotionally girls that are left..it seems all of them were crying or complaining at one point about stupid stuff..at least when you spoke, you were trying to help them with advice..not some stupid crap...I'm not watching anymore anyway after the back stabbing I believe in fair play..not underhanded crap Amanda whinning little ass pulled..
I am hooked on this show but I don't want to see Mark with any of them! I love Jen, but being 43 myself and having had 4 kids the thought of starting over gives me nightmares! Mark needs to get with Consuelos and have him on the other show he hosted where the computer picks the girl for you. i think he'd have better luck than with the group he has to work with now. I'm sure when this is over Jen will have men knocking down her door and Amanda will appear on an episode of Dr Phil with Maria there for moral support. Megan is still young and will find some nice guy once she matures a little-I think Mark would be biting off more than she could chew.It will be interesting to see how it all turns out, but I'll certainly keep watching!
I think that Mark let the wrong women go in the first place. I don't think that in the long run he will be with the woman he picks. The only really mature and decent one is Jen and I really think she is to old for the long haul, especially if he wants children.

This show was one of the most hilarious - my favorite part being when Amanda went looking for Mark and Jayanna on their date, then, when she couldn't find them, went back to the camp and plopped herself in Mark's tent, waiting like a jealous wife. That whole act was rather amusing and it gave me a giggle.
I agree with previous opinions on Jayanna on Amanda, they both seem to be rather catty and just so sure of themselves, bashing the competition. I like Jen the most - she doesn't really bother anyone or express that she thinks she's on top of the world. Neither does Megan or Maria; Megan's cute and dinky at times, Maria may be a bit serious for Mark. *shrug*.
To the first commenter, Carter, Mark was actually asked by the producers of this show to be on this. It's all in the world of marketing and entertainment.
