Big Love Recap, 8/6/07

finalimage.jpg I was wrong. Roman Grant is alive! Only just barely. Somehow, even though he's in ICU with a 106 degree temperature and is completely loopy, he still controls the compound and most of his family’s actions. Bill attempts to usurp Roman’s power at one of their held meetings, but he is eventually shut down by Albie, who illegally takes on all of Roman’s responsibilities.

As Roman’s state declines, life in the Henrickson homes goes down hill too. First and foremost, a mourning Nicki takes out her anger on Barb and wrecks Margene’s freezer. Second, Margene’s attractiveness takes an unexpected toll on Ben when she flirts with an ex-lover at Bill’s store. And finally, the wives cannot agree on buying the video game business, which Bill is eager to do. All is very messy for this lovely family. Moreover, a needy Lois, who will use any tidbit of information to get Bill to talk to her, divulges the age of Sarah’s boyfriend. Uh no! Look out, Sarah; you know your parents do not approve of pre-marital sex, especially with men a decade older than you.

Here is where this show gets extremely tricky. Is Lois good, is she bad, or is she just insane? I want to know more of her story! So far all I have seen is erratic behavior and no sense of moral judgment. And I keep wondering how Bill stays so calm. With all that goes on around him, I’d think he would have had a coronary by now or need intense therapy! Bill deserves a medal...

This week’s episode left many doors open about Bill’s future business encounters, Roman’s dwindling health and its lasting impact, and Rhonda’s future debauchery. Yes, Rhonda is back and on a talk show no less!! I really hate that bitch; she makes me very uneasy. I think she's capable of just about anything. What do you think?

Watched the show last night for the first time and really liked. I was kinda surprised -- didn't think a show about mormon love would be must-see TV. I was wrong. Excellent cast. Excellent recap.

I like your recap too...I think every character on this show has a moral dilemna. Barb is becoming a bit of a jerk, wouldn't you say? going golfing...and thinking she was perfectly justified...Bill lying to her outright about being the first to know about the gaming...I think Sarah is the only one who really truly knows what's up.

Lois has no moral compass. She is a really a good passive-agressive manipulator on a show that has several Nobel prize winners in this category. I will miss seeing the Greens. They sound like Moses and Richie Aprile rolled into one: "You shall immediately disgorge your holdings." "Gimme the f&%$#n money. And if you don't disgorge or if you cross them they way Roman did, their Squeaky Fromme wives come crawling out of the woodwork.
