It's Official: The View Makes Whoopi
Say hello to the newly announced View cohost: Whoopi Goldberg!
Even though I'm not the biggest fan, sources have told TMZ.com, "View execs wanted a black woman who was funny. They also wanted a funny white woman but Roseanne (Barr) was too expensive and they felt she was past her prime. And as for Gayle King, we're told, "it just wasn't happening."
Whoopi will officially join the cast the day after Labor Day. Reports of comedian Sherri Shepherd joining the show weren't even mentioned let alone substaniated. Whoopi told her new colleagues she doesn't have any interest in starting a celeb feud a la Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Rosie O'Donnell -- saying she's too mellow for that.
And that is why I think she's wrong person for the job. If there's one thing The View needs, it's drama. What do you think?

Joy is still my favorite. And I agree - we need some drama 'round that table! I love Sherri's stories about her husband & the baby that was conceived while he was cheating her, & how she forgives him, etc. I'm counting on her to finally snap one day and THEN we'll have some View drama!!

BabaWawa saying she doesn't remember Obama coming on her show, is a really calculated low blow to show her audience that Obama is not worth remembering. Of course BabaWawa's real motive in supporting Hillary is to get a free nights sleep in the Lincoln bedroom.
can not believe whoopi even accepted the job? big fan of hers, but no one will ever get me to watch the VIEW again. they should have fired E>H> she was totally out of place with rosie, plus shes an imbacile.
NO ON could ever replace Rosie. Whoopi is TOO mellow. Sherri Shepard would have brought more excitment to the show. EH is a snot nose who isn't dry behind the ears yet and ought to be let go until she grows up. Joy is terrific.
Whoopi?? Sure hope she isn't too mellow. Love Joy's smile and the humor she brings to the show. EH is a Judas; I wouldn't trust her any further than I could throw a bull by the tail.

Thank goodness Rosie is gone, I think that show could do will a lot LESS drama, not more.
I think the ratings will take a nosedive a few weeks in. While Whoopi and Sherri are very talented, I think people really enjoyed Rosie. It was a guilty pleasure. I disagreed with a lot of what she said, but admit it, Rosie is a magnetic personality. I never watched the view before Rosie was on! Who doesnt like a little drama???
EH needs to be kicked off--she is so annoying-(she should stay at home and be a mommy)barefoot and pregnant is her only role I can see her playing lol---Rosie was the best....I liked her outspoken nature----Whoopie is mellow but I have always liked her---but it will loose ratings--Rosie and Joy made the show!!!!!
I like Joy she stays the same and is not faded by all the changes and as far as Elizabeth is can be replaced by any blond twit she stands by her beliefs, but sounds so ignorant doing it, and I think is pathetic that they hire whoppi to get more black ratings, whoppi is the wrong one for that. It's clear it's all about the ratings and not the substance.
E.H. has some good points,BUT she has to be toned down when she gets on her political high horse. She shows immaturity.

Why ABC should fire Whoopi immediately !!! It seems everyone has conveniently forgotten that several years ago Whoopi Goldberg totally TRASHED the National Anthem on an HBO special by inserting profanities (like M_____F____) nearly every other word throughout the song. In my opinion, this was a million times more offensive than what Don Imus did. ABC needs look into this and after reviewing the HBO Special for themselves, they need to immediately fire Whoopi from her new position on The View. Honestly, I donât think ABC has enough courage to do so.
Whoopie's so called mind is always on sex -gets boring after awhile. Love Sherri and Joy and didn't mind Rosie.
