TV Recap: Ugly Betty
Now that they’re officially over, Henry and Betty try to completely avoid each other to ease the pain- but it seems to be no success as work keeps them bumping into each other.
Meanwhile, badass Justin is still hanging out with the wrong crowd (see last episode recap- the pre-pubescent J.Lo) and has plans to steal the family car for a ride.
Alexis and Daniel are freaking out at Mode, after having learned that over 52% of the advertisers pulled out following Atlantic Attire. According to the numbers, if something isn’t done fast- Mode could be out of business in 90 days!! Wil suggests changing the layout, and lowering costs by using rice paper and soy ink. Anything she can do to bring Mode closer to its death!
In an effort to help Betty get over Henry, Christina suggests internet dating. Things Betty can’t live without according to her profile: donuts, family, and eyeglass cleaner…sexy!
Wil sends Marc to supervise a high profile photo shoot. Sparks fly between Marc and the photographer, Cliff- but Marc has his eyes on the hot, but not so bright model. Cliff casually suggests a movie to Marc who seems excited about the outing.
Hilda bonds with three grandmas she brought back to the Suarez home, all of whom she met at the cemetery. They make quilts together using their deceased husband’s clothes, and occasionally forget their fake teeth in glasses of water.
A million new messages overflow Betty’s inbox from the internet dating site. I love tacos, I love churos, I love….Amanda giggles in the background. Oh. But wait! Nice guy 47 says he likes bowling and wants to meet with her! “Yes, I like blowing” writes Betty…oops typo!
Kenny (guest star John Cho) lets Henry in on the scoop that Betty scored a date. At the bowling alley, Betty meets Niceguy 47, real name Steve. He is clearly not impressed, commenting on her adult braces and that her picture was a really good one. As he sneaks away to the bathroom, we see Henry hiding behind bowling balls and watching him leave. Betty sees him and he covers by lying that he’s here with his team of accountants, and that he heard her date in the washroom saying he had to leave because his pet…bird… is sick? So it’s decided that if they can’t avoid each other, they can just be friends. That shouldn’t be too hard- until the lights dim at the alley for cosmic bowling and nonstop PDA surrounds them. Umm… dinner anyone?
So dinner turns out to be pretty chaotic as well, when a violinist tries to serenade Betty and well, Henry – known as the guy who got another girl pregnant. It ends with Betty leaving the restaurant, and Henry on his knees being mistaken for proposing to her.
As the photographer guy (Cliff) gets pumped for his date with Marc, he is totally pumped for another date- with the hot underwear model. Heartbroken, Cliff leaves… and comes back to give him a piece of his mind. He rants that Marc only thought that their movie was not a date because he’s not good looking. Marc is only dating the underwear model because he’s good eye candy, and Cliff thought he was more than that – ouch!
Soy ink is definitely not the answer to saving Mode, so Alexis and Daniel decide to ask Bradford for the money at their Sunday family dinner. Claire Meade hides in the bushes outside, aiming to shoot for Wil’s head. She changes her mind when she realizes that Wil brought the entire family together, something she wasn’t able to do all these years.
Daniel tells Bradford the bad news and he is not pleased. The argument leads Alexis to having memory flashbacks of how Bradford rejected her and is faking the family love act. What’s more? She remembers that the accident was her fault- she had somebody slash the brakes in Bradford’s car. Daniel is furious- she wanted to murder their own father? Who is she?!
When Justin crashes the car and brings the police to Hilda’s door, this is the last straw. She has a heart-to-heart with Justin, a little bit of crying here and there, and Justin seems to have let go of the bad boy act. Thank god! I missed my fabulous little elf! Somebody needs to run Mode now that Marc is a little pre-occupied...
Marc ends up at- Cliff’s apartment! Looks like he traded the hottie for someone with a brain. Cliff may not exactly be underwear model status, but he tones Marc down a bit and they’re kinda cute together!
Christina gets a sketchy message from her dating site- the guy claims that she’s not single. The sketchy guy claims he is Christina’s husband! What?!
Henry follows Betty home from dinner (he didn’t want her to walk alone, how sweet!) Avoiding each other didn’t work, being friends didn’t work, the only solution to their problem is if Henry leaves Mode. “I’ll give my notice on Monday”, he says… *tears welling up in my eyes* As Henry walks away, Betty storms out of the door and says there may be another possible solution. She knows he’s only going to be here for 5 months, and that despite what everyone thinks of her decision, despite knowing that her heart is going to be broken, she knows it’s worth it! The passion breaks out and Betty and Henry start making out! YES!!!!! So much for the sandwich guy… TEAM HENRY all the way!
Did Alexis do the right thing in slashing the brakes? Thoughts on Henry and Betty getting back together? They're so sweet together, but I don't know if i'd ever be as ballsy as Betty to take someone who got another woman pregnant back! What about Marc and the photographer...cute or not? DISH everybody!

LOL. Team Henry all the way? Hmm. I don't know about that. I don't think Henry and Betty will have it that easy in the future...
Doesn't look like we've seen the last of sandwich guy either.
I love Alexis and Daniel bonding, so I hope they will be able to patch up their rift. I'd love to see them join forces against their idiotic father.
Loved Marc and Cliff. Cliff is such a sweetie. I think they're great together. Can't wait to see more of him in the future.
