TV Recap: Dancing With The Stars, The Results
Oh, no. Disaster has struck again (it was only a matter of time with the way this season has been going. I'd stay away from that ballroom floor if I were asked to perform). Marie Osmond was not present last night because her father, George Osmond, passed away yesterday morning. On Monday, she and Jonathan dedicated their army-inspired quickstep to Marie’s parents, who met after George’s return from World War II. Jonathan said last night that George was aware of the dedication and was for sure watching, and that Monday’s quickstep was a good way to say goodbye. I’m sure everyone’s thoughts are with Marie and her family in this time of loss and grief, and that everyone sends their best wishes for healing and strength.
Onto another contestant who faced one of life’s greatest struggles: Jane Seymour, who lost her mother the second week of the competition. Jane lacked enough votes from the fans to be sent home last night. Even in defeat, Ms. Seymour was gracious and well-spoken. Is anyone seriously that perfect? Regardless, Jane is gone, leaving more breathing room for contestants who can actually keep up with the rigorous requirements and ever-climbing expectations (I, of course, don’t mean everybody).
Last night’s results show was a little strange towards the end. The bottom two were not announced. Instead, Jane and Tony, Helio and Julianne, and Jennie and Derek were all left standing before the final break. When the show returned, Helio was announced safe, leaving Jane and Jennie to face their fates. Even though Jennie stood next to Jane in the final moments of the show, she may not have been the other star in the bottom two; it could have been Helio. I think that’s mean (to freak out two competitors), but at the same time, now Jennie and Helio will have to work even harder to evade the actual bottom two next week.
The extras last night were entertainment at its finest. LeAnn Rimes has such an amazing voice. You know it’s talent when a singer sounds as good live as she does on her albums. She looked incredible last night, too. Both of her dresses were highly flattering, they went perfectly with her impeccable pitch. Tony and Julianne’s dance to LeAnn’s “How do I Live?” was absolutely beautiful. When do they have time to practice extra dances on top of their weekly ones? High fives all around to the pros for being winners at life. Even though I still have no idea what the lyrics are for “Nothin’ Better to do” (other than those), LeAnn rocked anyway, and so did the half-naked dancers. (I smell next year’s Halloween costume...). If you like LeAnn, you can catch her on the CMA Awards tonight on ABC.
DanceCenter was hilarious. Season two contestants, Kenny Mayne and Jerry Rice (decked to the fab nines in full makeup and snazzy shirts), joined head judge Len Goodman to dish on the final six. In a nutshell: Helio smiles a lot, Jane is elegant (and old), Jennie was the first to cry (because Derek intentionally tripped her for sympathy) and has a weird mouth, Mel is the most versatile, Cameron is a “Greek god,” Marie lights up the room with her natural air of performer, and, bonus tidbit, Carrie Ann is a hater. There was mention of Sabrina (whom I just learned is dating her Dancing partner, Mark Ballas), which was a little awkward. I don’t think it had quite the effect the producers were hoping for, I think the wound is still too fresh. I did love how Kenny snapped Len quiet for talking too much several times. Take note, Bruno...
The Stars of Dance portion of the show highlighted Rock Steady Crew, a hip hop dance group famous for their battle-style performances. What a talented bunch. It was kind of like watching You Got Served (minus B2K and all the drama). I dig those kinds of performances. Good stuff.
So no one is safe. True that. Mel, Jennie, Marie, Helio and Cameron, better bring it on. Mediocracy is unacceptable at this point. I can’t wait to see what unfolds next week! I’m also pretty stoked to learn more about the Dancing tour, scheduled to run mid-December through mid-February. Tickets go on sale this weekend.
Blooper alert: I claimed yesterday that Len gave Jennie a 10 when it was, in fact, Bruno. I read my notes wrong. My bad. Now Jennie just needs to win over Carrie Ann and she’s golden.

Great show last night! Loved the DanceCenter with Jerry Rice and Kenny Mayne and Len! It was fun and sooooo
much better than Jimmy Kimmel and his sidekick.

I wonder if Marie was supposed to be in the bottom two and that is why they did it the way they did last night. Obviously, without her being there, they couldn't play up the drama of the bottom two with the red lights and all that.
Just a thought.
I think Jane looked beautiful and did a great job, but it was truly her turn to go.
I thought the same thing, Marie def was in the bottom 2 and DTWS decided to do the classy thing and not disclose that.
There has been no mention, was Marie's dad sick? Or was it a sudden death?
Kind of a bit cheesy for them to show Marie talking about dedicating the dance to her mom and dad the night before and how they danced for money.
Milking it a bit.
Dance Center was funny,
Unlike most of the filler stuff on the results show.
Usually I FF my TIVO thru the performance filler stuff, but Dance Center was cool.
