TV Recap: Ugly Betty

A sleepy Betty refuses to get up from under the covers when Papa Suarez is trying to wake her up for breakfast. When he leaves the room, Hilda pops up from under there, sneaks out the window and back to her own room. Just when the coast was clear, Papa Suarez returns to Betty’s room which Hilda makes it in time for, but Betty climbs through the window as Pops was trying to wake who he thought was her up. Busted!

Pops is clearly not pleased. He gives her the speech of how silly she is to be dating a guy who got someone else preggers, and how upset he is that they were hiding it from him. He forbids her to see him (psh, forbidden love never stopped anybody! Re: Romeo and Juliet). When Ignacio tells her she is living under his roof and his rules, she tells him that he’s right, and she’s going to move out! We all know Betty has been the glue to the family since forever, and the girl just feels she deserves a little more credibility here- she should be allowed to go a little crazy this time!

At Mode, Daniel finds Bradford and Alexis toasting to her successful attainment of advertisers. Daniel tries to give himself some credit for the jewelry store account (aka the old lady from last week) he pulled in, but Bradford sees the ad is small in size and not making that much of an impact. He ignores Daniel’s success and asks Alexis to be his best man at the wedding. Daniel is annoyed, and Bradford tells them to split it. Alexis tells Daniel he should do it, When Daniel complains, Bradford suggests they split the job. Alexis offers it back to Daniel but Daniel refuses. Ok, so after all of that babble, the point is that Alexis is the best man, and Daniel is obviously bitter.

A special guest appearance is made this week by America’s fav, POSH SPICE! It seems Posh is getting more of the spotlight than Wil is and even promotes her new energy drink while being interviewed. That’s major! Wil is pissed, more so that her plan to kill Mode failed and even has them bouncing back with ads.

A man with a thick Scottish accent appears at Mode, snooping around for something in the Closet. The mystery man it turns out, is Christina’s husband! Apparently, Christina left him five years ago- she never came back from the dog food run. Christina ultimately faces her fear and speaks to him (Stuart). Turns out he has come by to apologize to her, and he wants to be friends.
Meanwhile, when Daniel notices her suitcase, he asks Betty what’s up. She proceeds to tell him about the fight, and Daniel, as we saw last week is clearly on her father’s side. The two start complaining about their Dads, and make the same decision “You now what? I’m not going!” Daniel isn’t going to the wedding of the century, and Betty isn’t going to the citizenship ceremony.

The amazing Vera Wang makes a special guest appearance for Wil’s dress fitting. Just when all eyes were back on her again, Posh struts in wearing an even hotter bridesmaid’s dress VB. "I have a new muse" Vera Wang declares! Even Marc got all warm and tingly inside when he saw Posh! Upset that Posh upstaged her, Wil orders a loose fit dress for Posh, and flats! Wil sure knows how to do up revenge.

Henry heard about Betty’s big decision to move out and asks her to live with him. Betty is more weirded out than happy, it seems.

The wedding day is here- Wil is still sleeping with Duane. The ugly bag dress that Wil had ordered to make Posh look bad has turned into a totally cute outfit.

Christina and Stuart are found together in bed. While in the bathroom, she finds a needle in his bag. Ew. She confronts him about it, and he claims the needle is his meds for some sort of liver disease that is not curable, and a ridiculously expensive treatment that is his only hope. He tells her he’ll die in six months. Christina tells him she’ll find a way to help him raise the money, and asks him to stay in New York. Umm- how sketchy is this!

Ignacio gets ready for his ceremony and is clearly affected by the fact that Betty hasn’t called after all he’s done for her. At least Hilda’s got it right- she subtly implies that Betty has done a lot more for him than he knows…
Henry tells Betty that she really should go to her father’s ceremony, but she wants to do something for “us” instead. Oh how I love the new rebellious Betty.

Daniel shows up at Wil’s hotel room to hand her a jewelry box, and pass the word along that he’s not coming. He gets a little suspicious when he hears the sound of a flushing toilet, Wil covers and says it’s Posh and closes the door on him. As he lurks behind a corner, he sees Duane leave the room soon after.

Henry and Betty are back at the office and find Daniel looking bummed in his. She tells him to speak to Bradford, and he decides to confront Duane instead.

At the wedding, Marc is totally worried about how Cliff is going to look and what the guy is going to wear. Cliff shows up looking hot in a new suit, and getting rid of his nasty shaggy hair. "Who knew there were hardwood floors under that shag rug?" Hahaha, oh Marc! The new and improved Cliff doesn’t seem to be making things better- in fact, Marc gets so jealous that Cliff is talking to a model, that he dumps him! Marc is threatened by how hot Cliff is now, and notices that every man in the room is paying attention to him. Amanda offers him sound advice, “Show that fatty how much you care”.

After Henry’s convincing, Betty shows up at Papa Suarez’s ceremony. She arrives just in time to watch him finish the oath. He is sorry for how he reacted towards her, and she is sorry for hiding it from him. It seems that Pops knows what Betty went through to get his citizenship. Meh, too late now right, he’s already an American!

Daniel goes to find Duane to get dirt on Wil. The ever so bright Duane thinks Daniel is hitting on him, and the equally as bright Daniel offers him a blank cheque but forgets his cheque book. Wil finds out what is going on, and tells him that there’s no proof to whatever it is that he thinks he knows.

Wil walks down the aisle alone (Posh got locked up in a room, I wonder who did it) towards Bradford, just as Betty bolts through and objects. Betty tells Daniel to speak with his father, and tells him what she knew months ago. Without listening to her explain why she hid the situation, he fires her!
Just as the couple are about to finish their vows, Daniel cuts in and tells Bradford what he just found out. Marc desperately is trying to salvage the situation by having Amanda (Sommers) make her musical debut. Bradford is pissed- at Daniel. There’s no proof to back up what he’s saying, and where is Betty?
Bradford is sweating intensely as he goes back to the altar while Amanda finishes up singing “Milkshake”, a classy song appropriate for every wedding.
As the priest continues, Bradford looks into the crowd and sees Duane hitting on a woman sitting next to him. He rubs at his chest, and his heart is beating really loud at this point. Suddenly, he falls to the floor! Wil begins pounding on his chest and Alexis pulls her out of the way and Daniel employs his CPR skills. Lights are flashing everywhere and the episode ends as Betty watches the event broadcast live in Times Square.

Holy! Intense episode! Will they kill off Bradford? Is Daniel going to forgive Betty? Will Posh emerge from the locked up room to save the day? Comments, predictions, rants- keep them coming!
