TV Recap: Ugly Betty
We return this week with Bradford still unconscious after suffering a massive heart attack. Betty returns to Mode to collect her belongings on the weekend, only to find Lamanda (guest star Mo’nique), a security guard who shows a liking for Betty’s “sugar stick” boyfriend Henry at the front desk. Maybe it’s trauma from getting fired but Betty hallucinates a bit and sees her old self on her first day of work. The Old Betty tells Betty that she’s changed- which leads Betty to question the things she’s done during her time at Mode and where her morals are now. Who are you Betty?
At the hospital, everybody is stressed and upset, especially Amanda- “Don’t you hate it when bad things happen to good looking people?” (All the time Mandy, all the time) He may be in a coma, but Bradford is still handsome in “a Sean Connery kind of way”.
Back home, Betty opens her closet door to find fugitive Claire Meade in it, and Yoga in her bed! Claire needs a big favor from Betty- that is, to find out if Bradford changed the will for the sake of her children. She guilt trips Betty into doing it, and once again Betty puts her morals on the line. When Betty gets to Mode, Lamanda freaks out and tells her that since she is no longer an employee, she is not granted entrance into the office. What next? Henry is all up on Lamanda- who knew he was such a gangsta? He pretends Betty is not his girlfriend so that she can sneak in, while busting out the line “I’m sweet like sugar and soft like suede, but unlike a piano I never get played”!
Outside of the executive suite the doors open already inside are Marc and Wil, also looking for the will. They look for “mementos” to remember Bradford with (even though he’s not dead yet), and after some beating around the bush decide that they will just find the will and read it aloud to serve everyone’s purpose. The will is in the wall safe and Betty has the combination- they open it and… it’s empty! “Balls!” Where could the will be? None other than… the “secret” room! It was the secret sex room that Bradford and Fey Sommers used to do the dirty in. Wil and Marc lock Betty and Henry up in the exec suite and run for the will. According to the will, Wilhelmina will get the estate and company upon the pronouncement of their marriage. Betty and Henry plot an escape Prison Break styles and crawl through the vents to get out of the office. Henry drops out from the vent thinking he has reached the secret room, but falls into the arms of Lamanda instead. Poor guy takes one for the team and makes out with Lamanda so Betty can escape. While writing a mean note to Marc, Betty accidentally finds out that Marc is now ordained as a minister. The Devil is always one step ahead!

Papa Suarez and Hilda catch Claire and Yoga in Betty’s room and learn of their plans for escape that night. Claire’s passport picture is definitely not going to pass- so Hilda puts her skills to use and gives Mrs. Meade a makeover.
At the ICU unit, Bradford awakes from his coma. Daniel wants to tell Bradford how much he really loves him, but is lost for words and mutters “You’re gonna be ok” instead.
Claire cannot go through with leaving to Italy, and decides to go to the hospital one last time to see her children. In the elevator, Claire tells Daniel the real reason behind why Betty lied about Wil’s affair.
With cell phone wedding music in the background, Marc works his new magic as a minister- but Bradford confronts Wil about sleeping with Duane. He realizes how foolish he’s been and asks them to leave. Instead, he wants to speak with Claire. Ditching the 80’s wig, Claire braves it and walks out to see Bradford, ignoring the press and public eye. “I’ve never loved anyone more than you” he says to Claire. After learning the truth, Daniel offers Betty’s job back to her, but she decides that she is becoming someone she doesn’t want to be. As the cops take Claire away, Daniel asks Betty to keep her eye on Bradford. Brad tells Betty that she has been the only one able to keep Daniel on his path, and that he’d be lost without her. And those- where Mr. Bradford Meade’s last words. When Betty returns with a cup of water, publishing tycoon Bradford Meade is pronounced dead.
We end off with a scene of Wil and Bradford’s body. She has some freaky proposition to for the doctor and Bradford’s dead body?
Final Thoughts:
1. What kind of freaky things does Wil want to do?!
2. Is Betty really leaving Mode? What will Daniel do without her?
3. Has Betty changed? I mean, I think she’s grown up and has done many things that she may not have thought she would do in the past- but is that necessarily bad?
4. What will become of Mode without Bradford? And without Betty?
