Great Depressions are caused by the huge transfer of wealth to a tiny minority at the top of the pyramid, which as Einstein put it, causes 'instability' in the 'utilization of capital' which then results in 'increasingly severe depressions' correlated directly with the degree of income inequality that has developed in a society. In other words, greedy millionaires and billionaires are going to cause the worst economic and cultural crisis of all time. Money does not grow on trees. The government can't just print up more on a whim. So when too much wealth accumulates at the top, the middle class go further into debt and the lower class further into poverty. A similar rule applies worldwide. So what can we do about it? We can stop directly supporting high profit low labor industries (Hollywood, pro sports, credit, cell phone, pharmaceuticals, gambling, jewel trade, high fashion, ect). but that would only slow the transfer of wealth. I'll put it this way. Lets say that you have $10 on the table. That represents the wealth of the lower, middle, and upper class. Lets say that they can get by with $8. The other $2 should go to LEGITIMATE HUMANITARIAN EFFORT. That would gradually make the world a better place. But thats not what the super-rich want. They want us to get by on $5 and give the other $5 to them (they use every psychological tactic in the book to get it.). They keep $4, spend $1 on legitimate humanitarian effort and say "Look at me! I'm a hero!.". IT CAN'T WORK THIS WAY. Any progress made in one area will be lost in another. By taking so much to begin with, they bankrupt the middle class and drive the lower class further into poverty. THEY CREATE MORE SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC PROBLEMS. As the wealth accumulates at the top, more people go further into debt or poverty. The government then needs MORE TAX REVENUE to fight crime and fund the growing need for financial aid. Meanwhile, more wealth accumulates at the top. THE CYCLE CONTINUES.

Now consider the banking industry (endorsed by Oprah), the pharmaceutical industry, the insurance industry, the energy industry, and the richest 5% who primarily invest in them. My problem IS NOT with the upper class in general. In fact, I believe that we need a reasonable scale of wealth. But its gotten way out of hand. THE RICH GET RICHER AND THE POOR GET POORER AS A DIRECT RESULT. If this cycle is allowed to continue (it will), then our economy will go down in a ball of flames by the year 2020. Now, try to imagine the effect that will be had on global economy and crime worldwide. One injustice will lead to another. Civility will spiral out of control worldwide. Its just human nature. The fall of modern society is only a few decades away. and GREED is the single greatest factor. When you concentrate the wealth of ANY society, you cause a domino effect of social and economic problems. So what can the rich do if they TRULY care? They can start by NOT GETTING ANY RICHER. I'll admit right now, I admire Oprah and I am definitely impressed by her support of Mr. Obama. Will it decide my vote? No. But I will weigh it along with other things, and it is something that affects my feelings about Obama in the positive.
