TV Recap: Project Runway

Project Runway ChristianWell, Jack is gone. He was a great asset to the project runway team, and it's really unfortunate that this is the way he had to go. An infection on his face was only getting worse, and his doctor said he needed to come in right away for medical treatment. These are the times when life is unfair. We'll miss you, Jack!

This week's challenge was fun and different. First, the models are brought out. From her shadow, the first model was immediately mind-boggling. Some designers thought she looked like a monster. But as the models came out, everyone realized it was just a middle-aged everyday woman wearing her wedding dress.

Here's the catch: all the women (the models) had recently lost a significant amount of weight, up to 160 lbs. Each woman was wearing her favorite outfit from before she lost the weight. The designers were instructed to create a new look for these women using their old clothes as the material.

Christian's immediate reaction was, "I'm going to die, this is so not me."

Though this challenge may seem fun, it's not as easy as it looks. As the designers were randomly paired up with the models, each designer was praying to the fashion goddess that he or she didn't get the wedding dress woman. Steve was the unlucky one.

"It feels like death on a stick," he said.

The look the designers created needed to be suitable for their clients' everyday life and also needed to show a little bit of the designer in the outfit, as well.

The designers had 30 minutes to meet their new client and get to know what they're into as a thin middle-aged woman.

They were given an extra budget of $10 to purchase any extra fabric that was needed.

After Jack's departure, everyone was somber. Until, another surprise was given to them. Chris, who was voted off last week, was asked to come back to replace Jack, in effect. He was also given all night to work on the project since he came back so late into the challenge.

"We want to assure that the competition is high," Tim explained.

The next day, the designers walked into the design room to see Chris passed out on the couch with only 2 hours of sleep in his body. Rough night!

Stephen's time was running short, so he made a decision for the first time in his fashion career- use glue, the cop-out time-efficient alternate to sewing.

Turns out his glue idea just didn't cut it for the judges. Judge Michael Kors said Steve's model looked like "a French maid at a funeral."

Kevins model Elise was sexy and loving herself, confident and comfortable. Plus for Kevin.

Christian, who went the commercial route but he and his model really shined through the outfit, won the title of winner.

Steve's bad luck got the best of him, and he was asked to leave.

"Just because the judges don't like it doesn't mean it's awful," were some of his last words.

I loved both Christian and Kevin's designs. Out of the two of them, Christian's is the one I would actually wear, so I think he was rightfully chosen as the winner.

But more importantly, the resignation of Jack. Despite the fact that we knew something was up (it was obvious with the previews), it was a sad time when he had to leave. His heath is more important and at least he left on a good note. It begs the question though...could Jack have gone all the way?
