Obsessed with Real Housewives

Did you know that American Idol was on last night?

Who am I kidding? Of course you did. Everyone did. And while all of America was stoked on its return, there was another show on TV last night that I can't stay away from: Bravo's The Real Housewives of Orange County.

I have an addiction to the show. I mean, it must be an addiction, considering the show is absolutely ridiculous, but I know I'd lose my mind if I ever missed an episode.

So as I was basking in the delight of watching The Real Housewives, while my boyfriend did the dishes (I'm lucky, I know -- he cooked dinner too!), something made me jump.

At first I had no idea what it was. Then I realized it was my boyfriend yelling something. Something totally inaudible. I asked him what just happened, and he repeated, "We're going to Mexico!" in the most high pitched, whiny, annoying voice.

Of course! He was referring to a little freak-out Miss Housewife Vicki had when they were going to Mexico a few episodes back. And in that high pitched, whiny, annoying voice, she kept yelling, "We're going to Mexico! We're going to Mexico!" (How absolutely crazy is she???)

The surprising part was that my boyfriend remembered this. He hates this show. Tells me all the time. Can't stand how these rich women flaunt their money. (I love it. I think it's hilarious.) And yet The Real Housewives still rubbed off on him.

Who else loves this show? Have you convinced your guy to watch it with you? Who's your favorite housewife?

I LOVE this show! My husband also hates to watch it. But he watched it last night with me. Vicki cracks me up! I kinda feel sorry for her husband...poor Don! And Lauri's top lip doesn't even move. Can you say too much Botox?!?!?!

You should post a disclaimer that iVillage and Bravo are owned by NBC. Otherwise people won't realize this is clearly a promotional piece for NBC - like most of this site.

I love this show - it's like a train wrecked you have to stop and watch. Vicki is entertaining but annoying - Jeana is the least annoying - Lauri just married George because he is rich -Tammy is boring - Tamra & Quinn I could live without - I turn the channel when Quinn is on she drives me crazy - my husband thinks I'm nuts when I watch this show but I LOVE IT!!

Wow, I have super addiction to this show as well. I especially like when they run the episodes marathon style. I feel bad for Vicki's husband as well, he seems sweet and she mentioned she wished she was single. I am also intrigued by Quinn. I wish they would mention more about Lauri's son. Whats up with that?

I love this show too.
I have been watching since season 1.
I live in San Diego so I see this stuff all the time, though not quite as over the top as these gals.

I find it funny how the rest of the nation probably watches this show and thinks "wow are there really people out there like this?" and Coto is only like 40 miles North of me.

Such a fun guilty pleasure!

On another note, whatever happened to another fun Bravo show Blowout?
I loved that one too.

I love this show as well! Who's also going to be watching Real Housewives of NYC with me? Woohoo!

So glad I'm not alone in loving this show!

Tamara, I LOVED Blowout - how hilarious was Jonathan Antin? So incredible that these people are actually real!

Yvonne, I'll totally give Real Housewives of NYC a chance, although I'm not sure they'll compare to the OC ladies. They're just a whole different breed!

I love this show also. It's the first real guilty pleasure I've had since Sex and the City. Hope it stays on air for a lot longer.

Lauri is the WORST!! Her face is getting less and less human-looking all the time! I'm surprised that with George's money, he didn't want someone more REAL! Fake extensions, boobs, collagen, botox, etc., etc! (She's really got the trout-pout now!) And EVERY time she mentions him, her first descriptive word for George is "SUCCESSFUL!" That about sums things up for Lauri...she leaves NO doubt that she's into George ONLY for the money, and she BRAGS about that! Is he clueless or what? Or is he just as shallow as Lauri (hard to believe!) I'll never forget when she was soooo flattered to be a MILF!! Grow up, lady!

Yes, I'm another one hooked on the Housewives. I hope they will be on for another season. Jeana is the least annoying to me. eI can't imagine how she has stayed married to her husband for as long as she did. It's time they separated and I wish her the best. Vicki is a character and could really get on your nerves after a while. She's lucky to have friends who tolerate her. Tammy - she's kind of sad and I don't quite know what to say about her. She's not typical of the other women, acutally one of the least interesting. Tamra is a quite a girl, she's got some problems with her son and her husband and the fact that she's so self-absorbed and fascinated with herself and her looks does not bode well with me. Quinn - I wasn't impressed with her in the beginning and I'm still not really, but now I see where she's coming from and having known women like her, I can only hope she wises up soon. Bur I'll keep on watching. I only hope that the Housewives of OC are not replaced with the Housewives of NY!

Quinn is really boring, all she does is talk about her many boyfirends, nothing really sets her apart. Vicky is funny, she always makes me laugh!! All the young girls are good examples of what spoiled rich girls do!! Jennas daughter seems to be really down to Earth, anc cool.. I to wish they would show Laurie dealing with her son better, but I guess that is the way she handles it... Does anyone know if last seasons Jo do anything with her career?

Debi said:

I hate to admit it but I like to watch this show.
Jeana-most down to earth and caring. My favorite.
Vicki-zany and loud, but like her,
Tammy-she's ok.
Lauri-fake,fake,fake,fake,fake. Want to turn the channel when she is on. Don't think her face can move! If I hear how much she is in love with George again, I will scream.
Tamara- you are not the hottest housewife.
Quinn-all I have to say is that you need to get them girls up!!

Sheridan it is very simple, just fill in the blanks. I had trouble at first. It's takes a bit of getting use to. I think they could have made it a little more user friendly.

My favorite is Jeana. I feel sad for her when she talks about Matt not liking her. She can find someone better who will appreciate her. Vicki can be funny sometimes. How does everyone like her new assistant? I don't know about Quinn. She seems like she is chasing Billy and he doesn't seem like he feels the same way about her. I think that Tamra should accept that she is 40 which isn't old. It's too bad that Jo isn't on the show anymore. I'd like to see how Tamra would react to Jo.

Mindless entertainment at its best! I love it!

The Housewives are amazing. My partner and I cannot wait for the episodes. But we can't believe people think Laurie isn't in love with George...Is it just because she got lucky and fell in love with a guy who has money and treats her well? Jealousy is an ugly thing, ladies. We were just talking about how we are reality showed out of our minds, but this one is a keeper. Women just living out the values of our society, honestly.
it's great!

I feel sad for Jeana; she's my favorite, too and is going through some very rough personal problems. Vicky gets on my last nerve. And she'd better own up to the fact that she DOES have a drinking problem. My question is this: WHY to they call this show the Real HOUSEWIVES? Most of them aren't even married; not one of them does their own housework; at Vicky's party last year she had a caterer operating the grill, for God's sake, and bitch-slapped him the way she does her own husband (whom I feel so sorry for). Quinn is just embarrassing the way she isn't taking the rather loud hints from Billy. For such a religious person, her character leaves a lot to be desired. Unfortunately, though, I also developed and addiction to the show. I, too, wonder how the Tamra/Jo thing would go down. It'd be funny to see. As for Lauri, I can't tell if she's sincere or not, but George is a cutey pie and seems to love her, so what the heck? I don't feel jealous, just sickened by their excesses vs. all the poverty.

I love the housewives and my boyfriend mocks them profusely yet will still sit and watch them just to mock "supposedly" but the other week he caught em up to speed when I was sick and missed the episode and is looking forward to the wedding to see how much cash they will blow on nothing LOL

I grew up in Orange County, but don't recall women like this. I love this show though! I never knew Moms like this growing up, and had no idea Coto De Caza was like that! I think it's fun to watch, but just see how poorly their kids are growing up. The parents on the show love their children, but they also need to show them how to live their life by example. The kids are only learning to love money and not work for a living because their parents are doing it all for them.

Hi everyone, I love this show. I don't like vicki, she is too weird, she needs to mellow out. I like jeana, sh's real, tama.... take her or leave her. She's not all she brags to be. Laurie, fake as they come. I like gretchen. She is a fun girl, she knows how to have fun.
