Last week, Paula Abdul told David Cook she admired him for taking it to the edge without going overboard.

Seems like his performances aren't the only things he takes risks with.  During last night's episode, the medics on hand told Cook he needed to be treated for high blood pressure.  Cook didn't want to leave until the show was over.  He waited to go to the hospital. 

The 25-year-old was given medicine to lower his blood pressure and was released after a few hours.

This idol contestant has been under a lot of stress lately and it doesn't all have to do with competing.  David's brother Adam was diagnosed with cancer.  It's been said, the letters -- AC that you see on David's guitar - is a tribute to him.

On another sad note, Season five finalist, Elliot Yamin is mourning his mother's passing.  You'd see Claudette Yamin rooting on her baby each week until he got cut at third place.  The sweet lady died Monday night.  She was 65.  The cause of death is not released.  Over the past year, she's had complications from a hip replacement.
