Hell's Kitchen Recap - Family Night!

Immediately after last week's elimination, Chef Ramsay continues to spew insults as the chefs head back to the dorms. The chefs think they can relax and head to bed, but Ramsay doesn't let them. He sends them back to the kitchen to clean it. Corey (who is still on bad terms with everyone since she tried to eliminate two strong team members a couple of weeks ago) leaves early before all of the cleaning is done. Clearly she's not winning any points with her teammates.

The next day Chef Ramsay informs the teams that Hell's Kitchen will be opening up for a special family dinner service with a new menu. He then shows them how to make fresh pasta for the new menu, which just so happens to be the teams' first challenge. They have twenty minutes to make the most pieces of perfect pasta they can. After Chef Ramsay inspects the pasta, he weighs it. The women beat the men by over a pound of pasta, sending the men into the kitchen for prep work. The women, on the other hand, get to spend their day at the amusement park.

At the beginning of service Chef Ramsay tells the teams that whichever team completes the dinner service first automatically wins. Should be some incentive to finally finish a service!
The women manage to get their tickets out quickly and perfectly, while the men don't do so well. Matt serves a a raw chicken wing - to a little boy. Ramsay was infuriated. Not a very good start for the men.

Back on the women's side, an oil fire starts while Shayna is cooking the entrees. Vanessa tries to move the pan and spills extremely hot oil all over her hand. Let me just say from personal experience: oil burns are excruciating. Vanessa runs out back and gets thrown into an SUV to be driven to the hospital. The red team is now down a member.

In one of the funnier moments of tonight's episode, Ramsay notices how small the hamburgers are as they come out and sees Matt cooking them early, resulting in overcooked, hockey puck-like burgers. Ramsay starts chucking them around the kitchen and we giggle seeing them bounce off the wall.

Despite being one team member down, the ladies manage to serve all of their tables before the men, giving them the win. Chef Ramsay then sends the women to the men's side to help them finish up their service. Craig doesn't seem to want the help and shoos away Shayna - with a lot of attitude.

After service, Ramsay picks Bobby as the best of the losing team and is asked to pick two chefs to be put up for elimination. Bobby chooses Matt for his raw chicken mishap and Craig for his disrespect and his troubles at the pasta station; however Ramsay says there is one more chef he needs to hear from. He asks Ben to step forward and expresses how disappointed he was in him at service. After he hears from each chef (and Craig's lack of math skills), Ramsay quickly picks Craig without hesitation. I guess Ramsay is the only one allowed to have attitude in this kitchen.

Until next time, Happy Eating!
