TV Recap: Desperate Housewives
The question of the night is: Who set fire to Rick’s? Tom is the obvious suspect, and since Lynette usually knows when he is lying she keeps baiting him to trip up. It doesn’t work though, and he stands firm that he didn’t do it and doesn’t need an alibi. Dylan gets pulled over and questioned by a suspicious cop. He claims she didn’t slow for a construction zone (which she didn’t see a sign for). He wants to know where she went to school and checks her ID. After letting her off with a warning, he gets back in his car… where the newspaper is with Dylan’s picture circled.
Bree is packing up to move out. Susan is having a hard time with her leaving—she’s overly emotional and blames the hormones—and Bree tells her to stop it and deal with it like a lady.
Carlos brings home Roxy, a seeing-eye dog. Gaby is not impressed with its limited range of skills (it can’t retrieve or clean up things while she's doing her nails). The dog is not too fond of Gaby either, and it starts barking and growling at her when she’s not so nice to Carlos.
Mike finally returns home and Julie snags a moment alone to tell him what Orson said. They both decide it’s crazy, but the wheels are turning in Mike’s head. He heads over to confront Orson, who doesn’t even try to hide it—he breaks down crying! Mystery solved.
Katherine tells Bree that she got a call from a couple who loved their work at the Founder’s Ball. Bree is not enthused about taking on another project until Katherine tells her she’ll be using her ideas and recipes… which makes her change her mind. So they’re starting up a catering business of sorts… we’ll see how long the battle of the extra-nice neighbors will last.
Gaby tries to go to bed, but finds Roxy on her side. She gives Carlos an ultimatum and he picks the dog. Let the games begin. She tries to get rid of Roxy by driving her back to the guide-dog school where she tells Steve that she got Carlos a seeing-eye monkey. Okay… Gaby takes off and Roxy follows her… all the way home. Carlos is not fooled.
Mike tells Susan about Orson’s confession and she Susan bursts into Orson and Bree’s house and rips into him in front of Bree. Susan is emotional and hurt and says the worst part is that he went on pretending to be their friend. Mike gets her out of there before she can do any more damage, but Bree is speechless. This should be an interesting fallout.
The cop comes over to see Dylan in the park and asks her about her mom. He tells her he followed her. He’s Wayne Davis (her father) apparently. I’m not sure if I believe that. Isn’t he supposed to be dead? And more importantly, isn’t this guy the annoying boss from the movie Office Space? Anyway, he says he had to meet her. Dylan questions him about beating her mom and he admits it, but says she gave it out too. He says he should leave, and doesn’t want to bother her mom by wanting to be a part of Dylan’s life. She says she doesn’t have to tell anyone. He gets a sketchy smile on his face and perks up. Something is just not right about this situation. I’m thinking maybe he’s a brother of the real Wayne Davis? Is that possible?
At the Scavo’s restaurant, Andrew can’t find any candles. Is that the arson connection? Rick swings by and tosses a book of Scavo Pizzeria matches at Tom. He found them by the back door. Andrew announces he’s still looking for candles. Tom and Rick start fighting and Lynette gets in the middle and ends up on the ground. She breaks things up, but they just start up again.
Andrew calls the police, and everyone heads into the station. Rick tries to butter up Lynette, but she goes to bat for Tom. She even says she saw him listening to the game in his car (though we know she didn’t). The fact that she backed up his story for the police in front of Rick should have helped prove to Tom where her feelings were at, but he still doesn’t believe her. In the car she tells him once again that nothing happened and he tells her he didn’t do it, and then he bails out and leaves. He has lost it. Insecure, anyone?
Edie comes over with dog treats for Roxy. Gaby tries to complain about her “troubles,” but Edie says her abuse of Carlos needs to stop—and says to watch herself: Other women like will gladly take her (Gaby’s) place.
Susan wants to move. Mike has decided to forgive Orson, but she’s having a hard time. Susan goes and tells Bree she is working on forgiving Orson, but it will be tough. She shouldn’t take anything personally. Orson walks out the door with a suitcase. Bree says it’s admirable, but she can’t forgive him. Even Bree shows a brief flash of emotion this time.
Lynette’s boys want to know why Tom is sleeping on the couch, and they tell her they overheard the fight the other day… and went over and torched the restaurant while they were at the ball. Tom’s innocent!
Dylan offers to help Katherine, but she is really sneaking out to meet up with “Dad.” They go on their way to dinner. This seems suspicious. Why is he getting close to her, and who is he really? Could he really be Wayne?
Next week: Now that Gaby and Roxy have made up and there’s room for everyone in bed, Carlos and Gaby take in a boarder—played by Justine Bateman. She’s going to cause more drama for these two. Plus, Orson drowns his sorrows in… Edie? That’s right, Wisteria’s queen of sloppy seconds is on the prowl again.
