Anything Can Go Down in Hell's Kitchen
Welcome to this weeks recap of Hell's Kitchen!
As we start this week's episode, we get the feeling that the teams don't seem to like each other very much. Jason says he will not lose to girls again and the girls say it was nice to cut some of the dead weight (i.e. Dominic). Can't wait until these teams join up and we see some real fun!
The next morning the chefs are pulled out of their beds at 5:45 a.m. to dig through the trash and really take a look at all of the amazing food they tossed at the previous night's dinner service. It amounted to thousands of dollars of waste, according to Chef Ramsay. Not a smart way to run a kitchen.
Back in the kitchen (after a shower), Chef Ramsay shows both teams how to fillet and cut up a rather large halibut. For the challenge, each team has twenty minutes to follow Ramsay's example and make the most perfect six ounce portions of the fish as possible.
After twenty minutes of slicing and dicing, both teams come out with 41 sliced portions of fish (coincidence?). A tie for the first time in Hell's Kitchen history. The tie breaker: each team needs to pick a member to go to the front and pick a piece that they believe is closest to six ounces. The team's portion who comes closest to six ounces wins the challenge. And let me tell you if you missed it, it was very, very tense... (Kidding, but don't you love how they manage to make halibut weighing so suspenseful?)

The males manage to pick a 5.9 ounce piece, giving them the win.
Their reward: a luxurious lobster lunch on a super yacht with Chef
Ramsay while the girls have to fillet halibut and make fish stock. A
stinky job to say the least.
When the men return for dinner service, it appears the lobster and champagne might have gone to their brains. Ramsay asks Petrozza the five appetizers for the night and he is unable to list them. As a result, Ramsay tells him to get out of the kitchen and go back upstairs to study the menu. Meanwhile, his station will remain unmanned until he gets his act together.
Apparently studying a menu is not as easy as it seems. Petrozza almost quits right there. But, through the help of Bobby, he pulls it together and manages to finally list the menu to Ramsay. Phew.
For this challenge one member of each team is sent out on the floor to help John Phillipe take orders. Ramsay picks Craig and Rosanne for the tasks. At service Rosanne has a tough time and takes about 45 minutes to take orders. That's quite a wait.
The
men manage to get out their appetizers fast, but can't seem to get the
entrees right. Probably because last service they didn't get past
appetizers. Hey at least we got progress!
A few manage to make it out, but the final straw comes once a raw fish entree comes back for the blue team. Ramsay flips out and shuts down the kitchen.
After service Ramsay chooses the red team as the loosing team for not even getting to their entrees. The Chef chooses Corey as the best of the worst and asks her to pick two of her teammates to send home.
In front of Ramsay, Corey chooses to put Christina and Jen on the chopping block for strategic and personal reasons, respectively. It's interesting that she admitted that to Ramsay. It's also interesting because the person who is put on the chopping block but who is not kicked off will almost certainly want to see Corey gone next week.
After Christina's water works (which cracked up the guys)
and Jen's never-ending rant, Ramsay disregards everyone's wishes and
kicks off Sharron for her poor performance. Now Corey will have two people coming after her. Smart!
Just goes to show you who really calls the shots in Hell's Kitchen! Until next time, happy eating!
