An American Idol Feast

by Jacki Garfinkel

Don't be jealous, but today I participated in a David Cook and David Archuleta sandwich.

Okay, not really, but I did eat two sandwiches inspired by the two American Idol contestants.

You see, this afternoon I headed over to Fireside Restaurant in NYC to try out their Sex and the City-inspired menu, as well as their American Idol one.

First I chowed down on Cook's Rockin Kansas City BBQ Soft Shell Crab Sandwich. It was just as delicious as David Cook, and had just as much spice as he does. (Yes, I'm a Cook fan.)

Next up I had Archuleta's "Sunnyside Over Utah" 5oz Kobe Ballad Burger. Oh, and it not only was made of Kobe beef, but it also had truffles and brie on it. Yup, it was as amazing as it sounds. And while I always voted for Cook, I can't deny that young Archie had talent, and this burger was the perfect representation.

While Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell were left out, Randy Jackson did get some kudos, as the restaurant cooked up Jackson's Smoked BBQ Brisket Sandwich, with a side of mac n' cheese, of course. Extremely reminiscent of the dawg.

These sandwiches are only available until May 26, so if you're in NYC, run to Fireside now. If you can't make it there, here's my question to you...

What meal would you make to represent your Idol favorite? Or, if you're not an Idol fan, is there a meal you make that totally reminds you of your favorite TV show? (Need some ideas? Check out our Food channel for recipes.)
