Lost Got Even Crazier!

A Girl Named Emily
We start off with a young girl, Emily, in a '50s outfit dancing to music in her room and putting on makeup. When her mom asks if she's going out with "him," she says yes. Mom is not happy that this "him" is twice her age. When Emily runs outside away from her mother, she gets hit by a car.
Next scene she's in the hospital being rushed into surgery. Emily tells the doctor she's pregnant, and all of a sudden they're doing an early delivery. She's told her baby is a boy and that he's okay for now. The baby is immediately taken away. She yells out, "His name is John!"
John Locke, maybe? Whaaaat?
The Cabin and the Boat
Neither John nor Ben know where the cabin is, and they think Hurley is leading them. When they realize how lost they are, they decide to make camp. In the middle of the forest. Where the scary monsters are!
Back on the boat, Sayid wakes Desmond up, because they hear the helicopter. They've brought back one of the soldiers who was attacked by the smoke monster. Then head soldier man (Keamy) tells Sayid that he needs to know exactly where each of "their people" are on the Island.
Keamy then holds a gun to one of the men on the boat, because he thinks he gave him up to Ben. When the Captain says he didn't do it, he takes him to Michael and says he was the one who did it. Keamy starts to beat Michael up. Michael admits to giving Ben Keamy's name. Why???? When Keamy goes to shoot Michael in the head, he's unable to. (Because Michael can't die yet, remember!) Then Captain Gault tells Keamy they need Michael, because he can fix the engines. Why? Because he broke them.
A Man in the Forest
John Locke comes upon a man cutting down a tree. Who is this man in the Dharma suit? Apparently his name is Horace? He tells John that he's building he and his wife a place to get away. Then when he says he's probably not making any sense, he turns around, with a bloody nose (sign of time traveling???) and says, "That's because I've been dead for twelve years." Right, because that makes so much more sense.
Then, as dead man disappears and appears, he says, "You gotta find me John, and when you do, you'll find him."
Him, as in Jacob. Then he says, "He's been waiting for you a real long time."
Then John wakes up. What the heck just happened? (Lost makes me say that a lot.)
Locke tells Hurley they now know where they're going and Ben says, "I used to have dreams." Thanks for clearing that up, Ben.
Emily Again
Well Emily is John's father, because the nurse refers to her mother as Mrs. Locke. John is the youngest preemie to survive in their hospital. "He's a fighter, you're little John."
When the nurse tells Emily she can hold John for the first time, she runs out of the room saying she can't do it. The mother (John's grams) then asks the nurse who she can talk to about adopting. Grandma Locke then looks out the window into the hall and sees a man staring at her. The nurse asks if it's the father and she says she doesn't know who it is. Riiiight. He's still staring and Grams looks mighty uncomfortable. Ah! That is totally Richard (from the Island) - he seriously never ages!!! What is going on here?
Travel to the Cabin
Hurley thinks only he and Locke can see the cabin because they're the craziest. Locke says they're going to make a pit stop before going to the cabin. He explains that he wants to find out what happened to the Dharma Initiative - how they all disappeared in one day. Well, we know the answer to that - Ben (and Richard) helped kill them. Ben does not look pleased. They then come upon the ditch (the one Locke was shot in) filled with the Dharma skeletons. How lovely.
Hurley is not stoked.
Hurley: "Whoa, what happened to them?"
John: [nodding to Ben] "He did."
Priceless.
Richard
It looks like John's been adopted, when Richard shows up at his new house. (Why does the woman let a strange man in?) John is, of course, playing backgammon. Richard tells John that he runs a school for kids who are extremely special, and he has reason to believe that John is one of those kids. Okay this is just too creepy.
Oh. My. God.
There's a drawing on John's wall (by John) of someone being attacked by what looks like a black smoke monster. Holy $**&!)*%.
Richard then takes out a baseball mitt, a book (Book of Laws), a vial filled with what looks like little pebbles, a compass, a comic book and a knife, and asks John to think about them. "Now, tell me, John, which of these things belong to you already?" Little John thinks about it and then settles on the knife. Richard is pissssssed. He picks up all the items, quickly puts them away and walks out.
Back to the Ditch
John is going through all the Dharma skeletons while Ben tells Hurley he should have realized it was pointless to shoot Locke. He also said it wasn't his decision to wipe out the Dharma Initiative. Hurley said he thought Ben was the leader, and he replies, "Not always."
Locke finds the skeleton whose suit reads "Horace" and under that, "Mathematician." He then pulls blueprints of the cabin and a map out of Horace's suit. In turns out Horace was building the cabin.
On the Boat with Keamy
Keamy has anger management issues. He rips a key off of the Captain and uses it to open a safe. Inside he gets the "secondary protocol." Apparently this paperwork (with the Dharma logo on the cover) tells Keamy where Ben is going to go next. (I'm guessing the cabin.) Turns out Charles Widmore knew that when they torched the Island (apparently that's the plan), Ben would go to one place. Captain Gault really thought they were on an extraction mission. He had no clue about the torching.
Is it going to be a race to the cabin?
The Captain tries to save Sayid and Desmond by saying they need to hide from Keamy. Sayid tells him that they need to get their people off the Island.
Oh Locke...
Locke tells Hurley how to return to the coastline. Now that Locke has the map, he doesn't need Hurley anymore. Hurley, however, doesn't think it will be any safer to walk through the jungle at night, so he says he'll stay with them. We think that's that, until Ben looks at John and says, "He actually thought staying was his idea. Not bad John, not bad at all." So they do need Hurley. Such tricksters! (Of course, John says he's not like Ben, but I don't believe it.)
Back in High School
A high school John Locke gets stuffed in a locker and is humiliated in front of his classmates. Who would ever think this is the same John Locke!?!
The principal (or teacher) then tells John that he spoke with a laboratory who is interested in having young, bright minds work with them at their science camp. The man at the laboratory? Mr. Alpert... aka Richard Alpert. This guy is everywhere. Little John Locke doesn't want to go to science camp -- after all, that's the thing that really gets you stuffed in a locker. Locke starts yelling that he's not a scientist. He likes sports. Though Mr. Principal tells him he can't be the prom king or quarterback or super hero -- he's the guy who likes to be surrounded by test tubes in a lab. John's not having any of it.
Michael is Hurt
Frank (helicopter pilot) wants to know why Michael didn't tell him that he was a survivor. Michael says it's because Frank's part of the conspiracy (putting the fake plane under water with the fake dead passengers), but Frank adamantly denies it. Michael flips out, saying that Frank can not fly Keamy back because he'll kill everyone on the Island, and Frank does not want that on his conscience. What will Frank do?
When Frank goes to walk outside, we see Keamy being fitted with some sort of scary looking device. What the heck?
Then Desmond and Sayid get some stolen backpacks from Captain Gault, and are about to jump on a life raft. But Desmond says he can't go with Sayid. He was on that Island for three years and is "never setting foot on that Island again. Not when Penny's coming for me." (I reallllly hope Desmond is with Penny. Even though he's not part of the Oceanic 6... he was never part of the Oceanic flight. So couldn't he still be alive and well?)
Sayid hops on the raft and floats off into the distance to save the day.
The Search for the Cabin
Ben tells Locke that he'll learn soon enough there are consequences to being chosen. (He also said that his tumor and Alex's death had to happen because they were his destiny. Think destiny is a big part of this show?) And, just as I finish writing that, Ben says, "Because destiny, John, is a fickle bitch."
And then Hurley finds the cabin.
Random note: This scene where they first see the cabin? Totally reminds me of when the Narnia kids first see Aslan.
John's Actually John in His Flashback
And we're back to Terry O'Quinn playing John Locke in his flashback. John's also paralized at this point. Thanks to his pops, of course. The man pushing the wheelchair tells John not to lose hope. He survived falling eight stories out of a building, and that's a miracle. Ahhhh, the man pushing the wheelchair? Scary guy -- Abaddon -- who made Naomi go to the Island. Wowza.
Abaddon asks Locke if he believes in miracles. Locke says he doesn't, but Abaddon says he should. He then wheels Locke to the top of a flight of stairs. We think he's going to push him, but instead he tells Locke he needs to go on a walkabout... where you go into the Australian Outback. Holy crap! Abaddon was the one who convinced Locke to go to Australia in the first place. They wanted Locke on the Island. But why??? This episode is getting more intense by the minute. So many questions, and so many answers.
Ah, Abaddon says when he and Locke run into each other again, Locke will owe him one. And we know they'l run into each other again.
Fifteen Minutes Left...
One of the soldiers tells the doc that they got a message from the beach saying the doctor washed up on the beach with his throat slit.
Frank tells Keamy he won't take him to the Island. Keamy says he'll kill him, but Frank says if he does that, he'll never get back to the Island. Keamy then slits the doctor's throat and throws him overboard. He asks if that changes anything for Frank... and Captain Gault fires a bullet into the air. He tells Keamy to stand down, or he will fire. Something bad is about to happen.
Keamy totally has some sort of bomb or something on his arm... and when Captain Gault goes to ask what's on his arm, Keamy shoots him dead. Um, yeah, Frank will fly him to the Island. Hey, it was a good try. Frank should really fly away without Keamy. Too bad he didn't. It does look like Frank has something up his sleeve though.
The Losties Are In this Episode?
For the first time this episode, we see our old friends, Jack, Juliet, Sun, Jin, Kate and the rest of the crew. Looks like Jack survived his surgery. While Juliet goes to yell at Jack about not resting, they suddenly hear the helicopter. Again, the Losties think they're going to be saved, but instead a backpack is thrown from the plane. Frank's backpack? Is he doing something to save them? Yes!!! The signal/walkie talkie thing. Jack says, "I think they want us to follow them." Whaaaat?
Arriving at the Cabin
Ben is not going in the cabin. "The Island wanted me to get sick. It wanted you to go well. My time is over," Ben tells Locke. Scared Hurley is totally cool with Locke going into the cabin alone.
Eight minutes left... so much can happen!
Ben wishes John good luck, and John goes to enter the cabin. I honestly cannot interpret Ben's facial expression. Is he being evil? Jealous? Sad? Creepy?
John lights a lantern and goes inside. "Are you Jacob?" Locke asks. The body says no, but that he can speak on Jacob's behalf. Who is it???
IT'S CHRISTIAN. JACK AND CLARIE'S DAD.
Christian tells Locke he knows why he's here, and Locke says he's here because he was chosen to be. And then.... creaking noises, and we see.... Claire.
Claire says she's fine. The baby is fine too. Christian tells Locke to ask the one question that does matter, since his other questions (Why is Claire here? Where's Aaron?) won't matter once the boat people come back to the Island.
What's the one question?
"How do I save the Island?"
Claire and Christian seemed pleased. I just seem shocked!
Meanwhile, outside the cabin, Hurley splits his chocolate bar with Ben. Locke finally exits and tells Ben and Hurley, "He wants us to move the Island."
My reaction? Oh. My. God. Wow. Holy Whoa. Lost is insane.

Hi. I like to see Locke is more than just another one "815 Oceanic Passenger". He was always one of my favourites there. (Then Desmond, Sayid, Sawyer and Dr.-messiah-complex). This is getting really interesting, but I hate the idea that Claire could be dead. I'm glad that she's with her father, but I would like she be with his brother. And what the H. is Desmond doing? I know he can't stand the island anymore, but I think the freighter is going nowhere! Then I was asking to myself... will we find out who the hell is in the coffin before this season ends ???
Oh Claire HAS to be dead... esp for Aaron to be with Kate later.
I was really "lost" and confused from this episode. Thanks for all your recaps and comments.. Some of the things I was confused about are cleared up in your column. Lets hope more things are cleared up before the season ending in a few weeks. Love all the recaps and comments. Till next week!!!
I was really confused with this episode. I'm so grateful for your recaps and comments. Lets hope we learn more and understand more about the island before the season ending in a few weeks. Till next week!!!
