TV Recap: Desperate Housewives

A New Face in the Neighborhood
Bree and Orson are dividing up their belongings (deciding who gets to keep the pewter cat figurine) and Orson is still begging for forgiveness. She tells him to turn himself in… but he’s not willing to go to jail.
Gaby and Carlos decide to take in a boarder in their spare room to help out with their financial troubles. They interview an art student named Ellie (Justine Bateman aka Mallory Keaton), and decide to offer her a lease. Little do they know, she’s a businesswoman as well.
Susan’s sleazy ex-husband Karl and his new girlfriend (now wife) Marissa show up at Susan’s Lamaze class. Marissa is pregnant too. Karl is a jerk, going on and on about his law professor wife and saying to Susan: “Look how fat you are!” I’d have punched him.

Gaby/Carlos/Ellie/Lee/Bob
Gaby stops by Ellie’s room and she has a guy in there. Apparently there was another one n there earlier that day. She heads to the stairs and spots her counting some cash after the guy leaves. Certain that Ellie’s a prostitute, Gaby solicits Bob and Lee’s help to bust her. Lee goes over and tries to proposition Ellie, but she kicks the crap out of him. She’s offended by the accusation, and tells Gaby she’s running a tattoo parlor out of the upstairs. Hmm… tattoo parlor? I don’t think so. How about drugs? That’s more like it.
Tom/Lynette/Kayla/The Twins

The twins are doing penance for setting the fire. Tom doesn’t think that dishwashing is enough punishment, but Lynette is not about to take them to therapy. She overhears the boys talking about how unfair things are because Kayla suggested it. She asks Kayla and finds out that it was her idea to begin with. Lynette (I’m sorry, but that new hair growing in is scary) tells Tom and suggests more punishment. Tom doesn’t react well—saying that she’s making different rules for his daughter. She thinks therapy would be good because Kayla was so calm and unfazed when she tried to explain why it wrong. I agree. Lynette brings Kayla to therapy, but she blackmails Lynette by saying that she’ll talk to the cops if she has to talk to the shrink. Tom flips out again because he didn’t know Lynette was taking her. Kayla looks on eerily and heads outside to try to get the boys to jump off the roof. Preston does (and needs to go to the hospital), and Kayla stands back and admires her work. That child is pure e-vil.
Bree/Orson/Edie
A drunk Orson tells Bree he’ll confess, using the sleepwalking as his get out of jail free card. Edie drives by and Bree asks her to drive him home. The next day, Bree goes to Edie’s and is flustered to find Orson is still there. Bree reminds her of all the leftovers she has cleaned up and Edie is pissed and says Orson is staying. He decides to get a hotel, but Edie convinces him to stay and make another martini. He breaks down and the booze kicks in and she makes a move. Bree is waiting outside the window—spying on them.
Susan/Mike/Karl
Susan heads to her second Lamaze class, only Mike is able to come this time. She makes him dress up and Karl starts railing on Mike about plumbing. All is going well until the whole rehab deal comes up. Susan tells Mike she wishes he would’ve kept quiet about rehab. He tells her it’s about being honest and it’s part of who he is, whether it makes him look good or bad to Karl. Can’t fault him for that. She ought to feel about 2 feet tall. Later, Susan confesses her insecurity about Mike to Karl, and Karl tries to stick up for him.

Dylan/Katherine/Wayne
Dylan’s been seeing Wayne by telling her mom she’s dating some new boy. Wayne tries to convince Dylan to come clean with her mom, who spies on them from the street… After she gets home, Dylan tells Katherine, who is very calm and eerily cool about it. She sends Dylan upstairs so she and Wayne can catch up. She just stands there, kneeding dough… It’s been 12 years since they’ve seen each other and he claims he’s changed. She says she has too. She’s not scared of him anymore. She tries to anger him and he decides to leave. I don’t know who’s scarier. She reaches down and shuts a kitchen drawer… with a gun in it.
Next week: Happy Mother’s Day! Susan’s mother-in-law, Adele, rolls into town. Gaby finds out Ellie is dealing cocaine. Bree outs Edie for kissing Orson. So, what’s everybody think of the season so far? I know you ladies are watching, so let’s get some discussion going! What do you think of Katherine? Will she send Wayne away for good? Will Gaby and Carlos last? Can Kayla tear the Scavos apart? What’s on your mind?
