TV Recap: Gossip Girl
Blair and Little J are still battling for control of the popularity crown. Now with her new boyfriend, Jenny has a slight edge—especially since she and Asher are throwing a huge bash for everyone tonight. Eric gets upset when the two of them are making out, and he tells her he has a weird feeling about Asher. She thinks he just has a crush on her, but really: what is his deal? Does he know something about this guy?Georgina a.k.a. Sarah chats up Vanessa. Apparently Dan and V have sort of adopted her. Since when did they all become such fast friends? Dan’s been talking to her about Serena and they agree the girls should meet. Michelle Trachtenberg reminds me so much of Sarah Michelle Gellar in Cruel Intentions.
Serena suggests Dan get to know Asher a little better instead of just being so overprotective of Jenny. He goes over to talk to him, but catches him making out with someone else… who is not a girl! Busted! Dan confronts him later and gets shut down. Jenny is in denial and turns on Dan. What is her deal? I feel like she’s taking this boyfriend thing way too seriously. I mean, really, they JUST started dating. Puleease.
Gossip Girl is all over the guy-on-guy rumor. B thinks Dan was responsible, and asks him for the dirt to cause a breakup. He tells her she’s on her own. Meanwhile, Asher breaks the bad news to Jenny. She’s just a cover for him, like he’s a status symbol for her. She agrees to lie about her V-card to keep their situation under wraps, but clearly she seems like she had no idea the rumors were true until now.
Meanwhile, Jenny lies and tells the girls Asher went to third. Right. We all know that’s never happened. And why is Nelly Yuki hanging out with the girls now? Did I miss something? I thought she was the enemy. I guess just for the SATs. The girls give Blair Asher’s cell phone and she starts going through messages.
Serena gets a racy video from Georgina. Wonder what that’s all about? It sounds X-rated. She hides it and leaves, only to find G at the house—she invited herself over for dinner. She proceeds to “out” Eric at the dinner table as Asher’s boyfriend. She claims she saw them, but really, how does she know this? Lily is shocked, but Serena does not seem surprised. Eric has apparently been confiding in Chuck, who is sadly absent from this episode.
Serena apologizes for Georgina, and Eric seems okay, he is going to crash the big party. Ugh, what’s with the so-overplayed Finger Eleven song? B also came to crash the party. She hands over Asher’s cell and says he’s lucky that Eric is Serena’s brother or she’d tell everyone. Eric shows up and does it for her. Asher (of course) denies it, and J sticks up for him. Eric gives Blair the go ahead to alert Gossip Girl. Man, I feel bad for Eric—that’s the last thing he needs.
After the truth comes out, the girls switch back to Blair’s camp. They make plans to go for dinner and drinks with her instead because lying to your girlfriends about sex is apparently unforgivable. Jenny goes over to Blair’s and says she gives up. She’s done with everything and everyone. Blair tells her she put up a good fight, but not to expect a hug or anything—ha! She goes home to grovel to Rufus.
Dan thinks Serena is jealous of Sarah. She finds out that he’s been telling Sarah (Georgina) about all their problems. What is his deal? They just met and he’s acting like they’ve been best friends for years. Georgina is still on a mission. She keeps saying she wants things to go back to the way they were. Why does she have it in for Serena?
Serena is at a loss. She goes to Blair’s and breaks down. She needs to talk to someone, but doesn’t want Blair to be part of it for her own good. Finally she tells her: she killed someone. And that’s it! We’ll just have to wait until next week to see what that shocking drama is all about. Plus, it looks like an intervention is in order. Serena gets out of control and Dan says he’s done. Oh no! I wish that wasn’t case, but I have to say, I’m much more excited about this storyline than all this drama with little J, so bring it. What do you all think? Who did Serena kill? Will Gossip Girl find out? And, what about Nate and Vanessa? There was no action at all this week—what’s the deal with them?
