Welcome Back Montgomery

Addison is back.  Looking great!!!  She looks on at the hospital…almost looks like nothing has changed.  Bailey walks up to say hi and give her some items she’ll need for her visit.  Apparently Addison is just back for a surgery.  The Chief comes over to say she’ll be back…she’ll fall back in love with surgery.  But Addison is convinced she’s an LA lady.

Dr. Hahn and Callie walked in after yoga, and of course Christina, trying to scrub in on her surgery, interrupts Dr. Hahn’s morning chi. Hahn is completely un-phased by Christina’s motivation and she blows her off.

Meredith comes in excited for the first day of her clinical trial.  Izzie and Christina could care less.  They think she’s wasting her time when she could be in surgeries.  They think anyone can start a clinical trial…not everyone can operate.  Wow, the competition is stiff around here.  Even amongst friends.  The women are getting saucier with every episode.

Christina tries to steal Meredith’s sparkle pager.  But Meredith says no.  She’s not wasting her power with the clinical trial.  She is hopeful and she is more positive than I’ve seen her in awhile.  So more power to her.  Maybe therapy is working.

Derek and Meredith talk about Philip’s chart.  She gives the stats and Derek tells her not to get her hopes up.  Addison runs into them…awkward hugs around.  She tries to pretend how cool she is.  She calls Derek and Meredith a happy couple.  Then runs away flustered.  Meredith and Derek kinda chuckle at how much she missed by calling them a happy couple.

Addison goes over to McSteamy who is growing skin for a baby.  He begs for sex…but Addison turns him down.  Ha!  It was pretty awesome.  The “player” can get no play.  It’s perfect.

Izzie and her interns are going into the clinic.  All of them want the excitement of the pit, but Izzie says the clinic is valuable in learning patient care.  They continue complaining.  She tells them to suck it up.  Behind the first curtain, a couple wants a pregnancy test.  The interns all groan and Izzie closes the curtain. Izzie goes to scold them…and she finds out they reek of boozing from the previous night.  George and Lexie had a party for the interns at their new place.  Everyone had quite a good time looking at their current state.

Going into Philip’s room (the guy from last week…bear…tumor…ya know…if not read my post from last week), Meredith warns her interns about the clinical trial.  Derek warns them that he could be aggressive/emotional.  They go in and Philip is crying and laughing.  Then he’s trying to fix O’Mallie up with his wife. He’s acting like a total nut job…but he does have a tumor.  And Jennifer, Philip’s wife, agrees…it’s just the tumor talking.

Addison and Alex run into each other.  She hugs him.  Apparently he’s her resident on the case.  Then Ava, Rebecca Pope…whatever…I’m calling her Ava…she walks in.  Alex goes over to her and asks why she hasn’t called.  He tries to blow her off, but then she blurts out that she’s pregnant.  Alex asks if she’s keeping it or having an abortion.  Ava looks shocked and Alex walks away saying he has a really big case.

Back in the Game

Christina and Alex give Addison an update on the baby.  Hahn and Addison are doing the surgery…they talk about how much work they have ahead of them.  Meanwhile, McSteamy strokes his ego about building the baby’s skin.  The team seems pretty large.  Hahn’s resident is Christina.  Addison’s is Alex.  Bailey is helping out and the Chief is there…for support?  Not sure.  Probably because he’s in charge.  I’m guessing this baby is still in the womb…since Addison is there.

In the Clinic, George comes over to the other interns and they all start laughing about the previous night.  Izzie looks on very annoyed.  George strolls up to her.  Apparently, Izzie paged George to ask why she didn’t get invited to the party.  George continues joking around with the interns and doesn’t see a problem.  Why would Izzie want to hang out with interns?  Lexie comes over to ask George about their evening plans.  Izzie inquires.  And Lexie says it is just darts with the interns.  Izzie looks sad so George invites her…obligatory.  She gets super excited.  Lexie and George walk away, and she says George “coded.”  New intern slang.  LAME!

Addison asks Bailey what has happened since she left.  Bailey says there is so much Addison’s head will spin.  The clinic is making money.  Adele left the Chief.  Meredith and Derek broke up.  Addison is shocked.  She can’t believe Derek and Meredith have ended.  I guess she thought they would end up together.  Or something.  She must really be over him…she doesn’t seem like she’s excited at having a renewed chance with him.

All the doctors on the baby heart surgery case talk to the parents.  The father is so excited about being a parent and he spins everything into a positive light.  Their child is special.  Everything will turn out okay, etc.  The doctors explain the procedure step for step, and the father still looks at the mother with happiness and hope.

After leaving the patient’s room, Alex talks about how the father annoys him.  He really wanted to punch him in the face, and Addison praises Alex for his restraint.  Christina tries to get acceptance from Hahn by lamenting over the father’s doe-eyedness, but once again, Hahn blows her off.  Those two really have more in common than they think.  They’re both talented and completely cocky.

Callie comes over to Hahn and Addison after the residents left.  She wants to know how they are getting along.  Hahn and Callie continue to laugh and smile…and Addison looks at them like something is up.  After asking what’s new, Addison learns that Callie got a divorce from George.  Each little nugget of information Addison acquires leads to shock and awe.

Meredith does a check up on Philip and she tells Jennifer how well she’s doing with this.  Then Philip starts making fun of her.   How well she’s doing?  And Philip goes back to talking about how hot he thinks Jennifer is and what a great prize she will be for someone else.  Suddenly Philip is blind.  He laughs about how he can’t see anything.

Baby Boom

Derek looks at Philip’s eyes.  Now Philip wants to set his wife up with Derek.  Apparently the tumor has hit the optic nerve.  They must move up the surgery.  He starts asking Grey if he thinks Derek and Jennifer would be a good couple.  Jennifer leaves the room.  Meredith follows her into the hall.  Jennifer laments that she doesn’t want her last memory of Philip being him calling her a hot piece.  She understands it’s the tumor, but its ruining their last possible moments together.  The romantic in me thought…”aww…that is so true.”  No one ever wants to have the last words they hear from a lover/partner to be sexual…they should be sweet and endearing.

Izzie and her intern go into a room for an ultrasound.  And it’s Ava.  She seems shocked by her.  Ava says she doesn’t need an ultrasound.  She needs prenatal vitamins and a pill to control her morning sickness.  She starts asking about Alex’ shift and availability.  So Izzie tries to cover for Alex.  She acts like she hasn’t seen him all day.  I swear Izzie and Alex are meant to be.  It will happen….oh yes…they will be together.  Stupid Ava…leave!!!

Addison asks Derek about what happened between him and Meredith.  He would rather talk about his clinical trial.  He tells her how scared he is.  He’s just groping around and hoping to do the right thing.  Meredith is expecting greatness from him.  Addison asks what he’s doing.  And he says he’s seeing someone else.  Geez…that was a conversation with Tourettes.  Subject to subject without transitions.

Alex goes into the locker room.  Ava is there, and she wants Alex to figure it out with her.  He pushes her away.  He doesn’t care.  He doesn’t want to deal with it.  He seems upset and hurt by her pregnancy.  And I really don’t blame him.  He lets her in…just a little bit…and she runs away.  Now she dumps all this information on him…. what does she expect.  It’s Alex…not exactly Mr. Emotions.

In the parent’s room, Bailey and Addison go over the procedure and all it complications again.  Alex freaks out on the father.  He wants him to know the exact dangers of the surgery and stop seeming so stupid about it.  Addison and Bailey call Alex on his behavior.  In the hall, Bailey says Alex is wearing his feelings on his sleeve and he needs to shove them back inside.

Christina runs over to Callie outside while Callie is eating lunch with Addison.  Christina has refused to allow Hahn in the apartment anymore.  Hahn is not being the mentor she should, and Christina won’t have the woman in her home with that attitude.  Callie thinks Christina should just say how she feels.  Christina says she doesn’t speak girl and storms off.  Addison asks if Callie and Hahn are an item.  Callie freaks out over it.  Too the point of almost awkward embarrassment.  Like…maybe she could be.  She talks about being a huge fan of penis.  Callie has a bit of a girl crush.  There may be a lesbian story coming our way folks.  They are close, but I never saw them as lesbians until this episode.

In the caf, the interns and residents battle it out for George to sit at their tables.  Izzie calls out George, and Lexie runs over to George.  She explains that the interns won’t be playing darts if Izzie comes.  They don’t want their “boss woman” hanging out with them during their free time.  George wanders over to the residents’ table.  Then Christina rushes over to sit down.  She asks everyone to share their feelings. She asks Alex his thoughts.  He slurps his straw.  Izzie starts to bring up the topic of Alex and Ava.  She hints at Ava being in the hospital with a pending pregnancy.  But no one seems to care.  Everyone is too self-involved.

Meredith asks what’s wrong with Christina.  Christina reveals she must talk “girl” to get in on a surgery with Hahn.  Callie comes over and asks if Meredith and Christina have ever been mistaken for a lesbian couple.  Bu Meredith says they screw like whores and drown in tequila.  So no…they don’t have that problem.  Then Christina says either Callie needs to get Christina in on Hahn’s surgery or Callie must move out.  She’s at her wits end and must use crazy tactics.

Izzie tells the original clinic couple that they are pregnant (the ones coming in for a pregnancy test…not the people having their baby’s heart worked on…or Ava).  Izzie is happy but they are clearly sad.  The woman wants to schedule an abortion.  She starts crying and the guy apologizes.  The woman is HIV positive, and the condom broke.  The man is fine…for now.  And she just wants to get it over with…today.  Izzie says she’ll see what she can set up.

Rising to the Task

Callie goes over to Hahn and says to do her favor by putting Christina on her surgery.  Hahn says only if Callie buys drinks tonight.  Then they agree it’s done.  Callie can’t believe how easy it was and seems a little shocked by the quick results.  No explanation needed for Hahn.  That’s my kind of friend…and possibly Callie’s kind of girlfriend.

Izzie hides behind a counter she eats chips.  Addison walks by to find Izzie literally eating her feelings.  Izzie asks Addison to talk to the HIV positive pregnant woman.  And Addison says she doesn’t work there.  It’s not her responsibility anymore.  Izzie is perfectly capable of explaining the great breakthroughs in babies born to HIV positive parents.  Addison tells Izzie to be the fighter she used to be.  No matter how many times she lost.  Then Addison quotes Ghandi and walks off.  Izzie recognizes the quote, but doesn’t seem very confident.

Alex goes to the father of the baby with the heart issues (still in womb).  And the father says they heard Alex’s negative speech before.  They don’t want to focus on the bad.  They need to keep hope.  Because with every thing in life there is hope.  His wife sleeps, and obviously the man is staying strong for her.  Alex seems a bit moved…and for once keeps his mouth shut.  And boy does Alex have a mouth on him.

Derek goes to Philip to give him a check up before the surgery.  Jennifer isn’t in the room, and Derek gives Philip relationship advice.  HA!  Of all people… Philip says he wants to see so he can see Jennifer.  He says the one thing he can’t stand is he doesn’t want to leave her alone.  Derek says Philip needs to remember this conversation and he needs to tell her that.  Meredith listens from the door and storms off after the men finish speaking.

Where does Meredith run?  To her therapist.  Of course.  Her new BFF.  She explains how Derek hurt her feelings.  He told her not to have hope…but there he is with plenty of hope.  She then immediately leaves the room for her surgery.  So Meredith.  Spills it then runs away.  It’s her thing.

During the surgery of the pregnant woman (baby with heart issues), Addison asks Bailey about Derek’s rebound chick.  She starts making fun of the poor girl.  Guess what?  Rose is right next to her.  So Bailey explains to Addison that Rose is the woman handing her the medical tools.  As Addison turns to see Rose, Rose talks about her “heavy petting” and tonguing existence with Derek.  AWKWARD!!! Poor Addison…like she knew.  Someone should have given her the full skinny before she came to the hospital.  Seattle Grace needs its own Gossip Girl blog.

In the clinic, Izzie explains how HIV parents won’t necessarily have HIV positive babies.  The father is very excited by the news, but the woman goes off on Izzie.  Izzie didn’t listen.  She wants to have an abortion.  She doesn’t want there to be any chance the baby has the disease she has been fighting since the age of 19.  It won’t happen.  And then the woman says Izzie needs to schedule the abortion and assign a new doctor to her case.  GEEZ!  Izzie just backs down like a scared puppy.  I miss pre-George Izzie.  The one who took Denny through a very scary experience to save him.  Risking her medical career.  I miss THAT Izzie.

On the way to the OR, Jennifer walks alongside Philip.   Derek reminds Philip of their conversation earlier.  Philip calls out Jennifer.  She leans down over him, and they get a little touchy.  Then he makes Jennifer promise to try to meet someone else if the surgery doesn’t turn out well.  He says he hopes he’ll make it.  They hold hands…and as he’s wheeled away, he laughs maniacally.  Poor guy with tumors.  If that has to be Jennifer’s last memory…so be it.  It’s better than all his other acts of the day.

In Addison’s OR, she delivers the baby with the heart condition.  She hands the baby off to Alex and suddenly the mother starts hemorrhaging.  Bailey and Addison work on the woman while Alex works on the baby who’s also having issues. EEEK!  Nothing can ever be smooth can it.  Perhaps Callie’s line of work.  We rarely see her in the OR.

Flat liners

Alex and some interns wheel the baby past the Chief.  He asks where Addison is.  Alex explains the mom is coding.  The Chief was in some other kind of surgery or something because he just seems shocked…no assistance necessary.

In the hall, Izzie complains about the year she had to George.  Saving a deer being my personal favorite low point.  Then George just disinvites her to darts.  Izzie is disappointed, but he explains that she’s a resident and he’s an intern.  There are some things they can’t do together. She is the boss of his friends.  She has to realize that. And then Izzie has a EUREKA moment.  Rushing off into the sunset, she leaves George.

Where does Izzie go?  Back to the clinic of course.  She rounds up her interns like troops and they storm the HIV positive woman’s room.   The woman tries to get rid of Izzie, but old Izzie is back.  Sharing her opinion has become her business if the woman is having medical concerns.  Religious and otherwise is none of Izzie’s business, but it’s Izzie’s job to confront medical issues.  She confidently tells the woman there is 98% chance the baby won’t have HIV.   Izzie says this is the woman’s chance to be a mom.  Izzie’s refusal to butt out made her a better doctor.  And her interns were impressed.  Go Izzie…glad to see you back in top form.

Alex, Christina and Hahn are in the baby’s OR.  Hahn gets upset saying the baby’s heart is slowing down and Addison isn’t there.  The baby starts crashing and Christina steps forward asking to be told what to do.  She takes charge and pumps the baby’s heart.  The baby is stabilized and Alex shares how he pushed X amount of CCs.  This gets a compliment from Hahn…and Christina looks flabbergasted.  She just massaged the baby’s heart and Alex barely did anything.  I’m there with Christina.  Hahn needs to share if she has a problem…communication needs to happen.

Derek works on Philip and Philip starts flat lining.  Meanwhile the mother in the OR is flat lining.  Then Bailey and Addison work on her until Bailey has it under control.   Addison rushes out to go to the baby.  At that surgery, McSteamy strokes his ego over the condition of the skin.  Just as everything is fine, Addison rushes in to see the baby has pulled through.  Alex is moved.  I see an Ava/Alex reunion.

In the other OR, Meredith calls Philip’s time of death.

Love Labour’s Lost

Addison and Bailey talk about the mom and baby both being okay.  Addison can tell something is wrong with Bailey.  Acting strong, Bailey declines to say anything.  Addison pushes Bailey to share.  Bailey pushes her away.  She says if she shared that Tucker moved out and now she is heartbroken.  She would fall apart if she acknowledged all of this in front of Addison.  So now Addison must go away.  So sad.  Poor Bailey.  Love lost.

In a waiting room, Derek hugs Jennifer while Meredith looks on from a glass window.  N the hall, Meredith admits to Derek that she got her hopes up.  And Derek says he did as well.  Then Meredith shakes Derek’s hand…calling him Dr. Shepherd.  She says it was a pleasure working with him. Can’t they try friendship?  This is just painful.  It’s actually real-life-ish.  Working with an ex…hard times ahead.

Addison admits to the Chief she does miss Seattle Grace.  He offers her a job immediately.  She said she needed to come back to see if it was right to leave.  And now they need to find a new OB-GYN.  She’s going back to LA (duh…her show is doing decently well…).  Izzie runs by and thanks Addison for her confidence building speech.  And Addison smiles, realizing the positive affect she has.  Good for her.  I really like her.

Izzie stands around and George comes by to say he’d rather hang out with her.  He says he always looks around to see if she’s there when someone tells a joke.  Oh…he’s admitting to missing her.  They need to be friends again.  It was better when they were BFF.  They really understood each other.  Now Izzie is pretty much alone.  She tells George to go be with his friends.  So he leaves and she stays to do work.

Getting on the elevator, one must realize it’s a hard place.  No escape when someone uncomfortable steps on.  Derek Rose, Meredith and Addison all got into the same elevator. Then McSteamy gets on laughing at the situation.  He tells Derek that he should have taken the stairs.  Geez…3 women he’s “heavy petted” (since we can’t say he slept with Rose).  One confined space.  Luckily, no emergency buttons were pulled.

At Joe’s bar, Meredith and Christina hold counsel at the bar.  Callie, Addison and Hahn are laughing at another table.  As they laugh, Hahn takes a piece of hair off Callie’s mouth.  Apparently it was stuck in the lip-gloss.  There was a moment.  Just then.  The tension was palpable. McSteamy asks if someone wants to dance.  And they all say no…except Callie literally jumps at the chance.

Addison and Hahn watch, and Addison calls Callie beautiful.  Hahn longingly agrees.    Paging Lesbian romance.  See you in the coming issues of G.A.  And by the way, Callie is really sex-ing it up on Sloane.  She is proving she’s not in love with Hahn.  HA!

Christina goes over to Hahn and confronts her.  She asks if Hahn is racist against Asians.  And if that’s not it…then why does she treat her like crap.  Hahn lectures Christina on not needing reassurances.  She ‘s a good surgeon and she should know it.  Christina accepts this and walks away.  Addison says Hahn was a bit harsh.  And Hahn said it’s only because Christina reminds her of herself.

The interns are laughing at the bar.  And George randomly looks out looking for Izzie.  So cute.  He really does miss her.  This is why they need to be friends again.

At the hospital, Izzie gets Avas labs and says they can’t be right.

At the bar, Addison says bye to Meredith.  Then she confesses she wants to kick Meredith’s butt.  Addison gets angry saying Derek can’t ride off into the sunset with that doe eyed thing.  Meredith needs to win Derek back.

And Izzie tells the lab technician a mistake has been made.  The lab insists the paperwork is right.  AVA IS NOT PREGNANT!!!! HOLY CRAP!!!

Meanwhile Alex is in a room touching Ava’s stomach.

Final Thoughts

Quick rundown.

Lesbian story line…how far do you think it will go?  And why is that the curvy character and older female doctor must be lesbians?  Why can't the cute normal girls be lesbians?  Such a cliche...

Is Ava a conniving byotch or does she have some medical issue that will cause her death?  Sorry, we all know I hate Ava.  Derek and Meredith…back together this season or next?  Why is there a picture of Burke hanging up in the hall?  Don’t tell me we are bringing him back too.  Though I do miss him a bit.  McSteamy…will anyone ever really sleep with him or will he continue pretending he’s hot stuff?  Bailey and Tucker need to get back together…they are meant to be.  Am I right?

And I’m exhausted kids so I’m out.  The board is pathetic from last week.  Let’s get some comments up.

Meredith and McDreamy that would be really perfect. I nearly thought when Addison said to Meredith that he Derek Christopher is such a great guy, well I thought she would help Meredith and Derek to get back together which I really, really hope because these two have this connection...

And for Ava and Alex I think Alex needs some body he can trust, he need to leave this big hospital to find peace somewhere in the countryside. But thats only me...

And please dont let Burke come back, I hated the guy.
