Back With a Bang!
After a 2-week hiatus, our favorite doctors returned well rested and ready to rock. Last nights episode was a good mix of sex, lies and drama. Lots of unexpected twists and turns and one shocking finale.
All in a Days Work
Meredith’s mom has been cremated and is in an urn in her closet, she says she’s fine and needs to get back to work. Bailey however doesn’t put her on a case since she feels she needs to take it easy. Meredith’s near death experience has left her feeling it’s all about people and she’s ready to be more open.
A renowned surgeon Dr. Marlow is visiting and all the docs fall over themselves trying to impress him in case he becomes Chief. He, however is more delighted to see Christina and squeeze her butt in full view of everyone including Burke. Apparently she was the student who slept with the Prof in medical school. Only we learn later she was in an intense three-year relationship with him that she ended. Nice, who knew Christina was such a heartbreaker?
On the medical front, Mc Dreamy has an old friend with a brain tumor removal. She’s almost lost in the OR and he has to open her up and massage her heart, but instead of calling Burke, he tries to impress Marlow and does it himself. He and Burke end up fighting.
Alex convinces Jane Doe to go in for eye surgery with Mc Steamy and she almost loses the baby, so Addison and McSteamy end up arguing in the corridors. The Chief is naturally upset to see all his top docs behaving like kids.
Meredith hides in a broom closet to avoid her dad, and Christina pops in to avoid her old lover. Her dad and mom have stopped by to check if she’s doing okay after her moms death. Meredith’s step mom convinces her to have dinner with them and Christina tells Marlow she’s engaged to Burke.
Much Ado About Nothing
Pretty much sums tonight’s episode. Did you really think for a minute Meredith was actually going to die? C’mon it’s not called Grey’s Anatomy for nothing… I was hoping for a prolonged coma, amnesia even, but nope, she’s back. Here’s what went down.
Ghostbusters
While the Chief, Bailey and Burke kept pumping at her heart and trying to raise her body temperature, Meredith was having a shrink session with a bunch of ghosts. Denny was there, the dude who saved her life in the bomb blast, a friend of her mom's and some girl who kept erupting blood. While Meredith plays doctor to the blood spewing ghost, Denny and the rest (didn’t think she was close to Denny) concluded that her drowning was no “accident," and she didn’t have much time, so she better ‘fess up. Denny also tells her that McDreamy believes in soul mates and begs her to go back so he doesn’t stop believing. In the end after much psychobabble, a formerly perky Meredith breaks into hysterics when she realizes her time is up. And in a befittingly absurd twist, her mom shows up, hugs her, tells her she’s far from ordinary and she should “run” back.
What’s the rest of the gang doing while Meredith is on her self-induced deathbed?
Dealing With Grief on the Cheap
Instead of staying by her bff, Christina decides it’s all over anyway and deals with her grief by going to the dollar store and picking up a bunch of crap. She’s later seen in the bar, with her tacky purchases. Burke comes by asking to keep the faith, and she admits she was there for him only when she knew he would survive. Ouch. And though she seemed to be ready for Meredith’s funeral, she showed up in her room when the docs had given up, and yelled at them to try one more time. That’s the time Meredith decided to return from the land of the dead, and friggin’ Christina gets all the credit though Dr Bailey did all the work. But maybe she’ll make Chief, she seems to be vying for it now. Oh and as soon as Meredith opens her eyes, Christina tells her she’s marrying Burke. Seriously girl, there’s a time and place for everything.
