What did you think of last night's MTV Movie Awards? Better yet, did you even watch?

I'll admit that I totally forgot the awards were even happening until I caught them while flipping through the channels.

It was a pretty lackluster awards show, except for a few highlights:

tomcruisemtv.jpgWhat was up with Tom Cruise referring to Adam Sandler as "Adam Richard Sandler"? Since when does he go by his middle name? He's not Jennifer Love Hewitt.

lindsaypdiddymtv.jpgP. Diddy and Lindsay Lohan pretending to be Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama? Not really that funny.

pussycatdollsmtv.jpgOnly two musical performances (by Coldplay and The Pussycat Dolls)? I know it's not the Music Video Awards, but still, I expect more from MTV.

sethroganjamesfranco.jpgUm, did Seth Rogan and James Franco really smoke weed on live TV? Anyone else notice how the camera wouldn't zoom in on them at all? Shocking!

zacefronmtv.jpg
Zac Efron totally didn't thank girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens. I bet they had a major fight when they got home that night!

sarahjessicaparkerjenniferh.jpg
Sarah Jessica Parker's head was the same size as Jennifer Hudson's boobs.

johnnydeppmtv.jpg
Johnny Depp could barely give either of his acceptance speeches because the audience was going so crazy over him. I know he's hot, but c'mon, let the man speak!

To gear up for next week's big Primtime Emmy Awards show on Sunday night, here's a little taste from the "Creative Arts Emmy Awards" that were held Saturday night. Bum deal to have to go on the weekend as the VMAs, huh?

While Justin Timberlake was off winning his Quadruple Threat Moonman in Vegas, he and Saturday Night Live funnyman Andy Samberg were being awarded an Emmy for most Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for their hit "Di*k in a Box."

E_RyanSeacrest_136.jpgDude, this guy just doesn't stop! Ryan Seacrest has been tapped to host the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards in September. This is less than a week after Fox announced he would also be hosting the Super Bowl. Oh yeah, and that little show hardly anyone has heard of, American Idol.

"Ryan Seacrest appeals to a broad audience, including the highly desirable young adult demographic, so he should serve as a magnet for attracting a diverse array of viewers to our Emmy telecast," said Dick Askin, chairman and chief executive officer of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, according to People.com.

So, who's going to (wo)man the red carpet for E! now? Somehow, I don't think even Ryan Seacrest can do that, too.

E_JoanRivers_210.jpgTMZ is reporting that Lisa Rinna who I love from Days of Our Lives, but the rest of America knows from Dancing With The Stars has signed a multi-year contract to cover all of the TV guide's channel's red carpet coverage starting with the Emmy's this September.

Lisa will be replacing Joan and Melissa Rivers who have been with the network since leaving E! in 2005. According to the official TV Guide channel statement: "TV Guide Channel is very appreciative of Joan and Melissa Rivers' contributions to the success of our Red Carpet programming over the past three years. We wish them the best in their future endeavors."

Which is entertainment industry speak for: SEE YAAAA!

The hair and make up is done, dresses squeezed into (after weeks of cardio and weights) and the awards have been divvied up. Now it’s time for all the nominees, award winners and fans to hit the parties. I headed for the NBC-Universal Cartier party where I spied a ton of NBC stars schmoozing and here’s the gossip I got for you guys:

  • Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, two of movies biggest stars, holed up in the corner with the cast of The Office. Jennifer was animatedly chatting up Jenna Fisher and Rashida Jones while Ben was kicking it with John Krasinski. I guess I know what show is a TIVO season pass at the Garner-Affleck house.
  • Scrubs star Zach Braff, with an unidentified blond, complaining as he exited the bash that he wasn’t given any free Cartier jewelry… perhaps to give to the unidentified blond? I think I just started a rumor.
  • In the middle of the room, Cartier had a huge display of various vintage diamond necklaces, bracelets and tiaras. Queer Eye For The Straight Guy’s Jay Rodriguez was admiring the collection as was Heroes’s star Greg Grunberg.
  • hayden.JPG
  • Heroes’s Cheerleader, Hayden Pantierre taking pictures with a fan. She was also checking out the jewels at Cartier presentation.
  • I spotted Perez Hilton gawking at all the celebs.
  • greggrunberg.JPG

  • Heroes’s star Greg Grunberg with his wife.
  • SNL alums Chris Kattan and Tina Fey catching up in the corner.
  • David Denman who plays Roy from The Office cutting it up on the dance floor with young Maria Lark from Medium.
  • Jenna Fisher and B.J. Novak from The Office at the People Magazine photo shoot tent hamming it up for the camera.
  • alecandoffice.JPG

I would vote Alec Baldwin from 30 Rock as the most popular guy at the party. Here he is with Creed bratton and Kate Flannery from The Office. Everywhere Alec went, there was a video camera on him, except of course when he came over to the dessert table and was checking out the build your own sundae bar and the cookie and brownie assortment next to yours truly. He restrained himself and didn’t indulge, unlike me.

Build your own Sundae bar, how can you pass that up, Alec?

    etrump.JPG

Donald and MelaniaTrump holding court. (Well, Donald was holding court, Melania was just… there. No surprise) He was probably talking about, what else, Rosie O’Donnell.

I also spied Donald Trump Jr. checking out of the party pretty early. I like to think he was going home to be with his pregnant wife and not heading to the HBO party next door.

E_Greys_Derek2.jpgDid any of you catch the Grey’s Anatomy love fest over on the People’s Choice Awards last night? Patrick Dempsey won best male star for his Dreamy role and Grey’s Anatomy won Best Drama. All is right in the world!

Check out all the photos, winners and gossip from the kick off of award show season!

So I’m a lucky girl. I got to be on the Red Carpet for all the Emmy arrivals on Sunday with Suzy, my gossip gal pal extraordinaire of Daily Blabber fame. Suzy and I both looked fab in our very fancy green dresses -- it’s always so fun to play dress up.

    TinaFey.jpg

Anyway, the highlight for me on the TV front was when Suzy scored a great interview with Tina Fey. She was in town from the Big Apple to promote new NBC show, 30 Rock, which I’ve seen and it’s hilarious by the way. In it Tina plays the head writer of a sketch comedy show, for which Tina is a natural since she was the head writer on Saturday Night Live for years. What I love about this show is that it’s so refreshing to see a strong, funny female character on TV as opposed to always having to watch some hot wife play second banana to a funny, fat guy, I’m looking at you According To Jim. I don’t even like bananas, so who needs two of them. I don’t know who did Tina’s make-up for the red carpet (I leave those details to Suzy and the gang at iVillage's Beauty & Style department, but even though it was as hot as the surface of the sun on the red carpet, it looked flawless as she made her the way down the press line. My make-up on the other hand, was running into my eyes and melting off my face, not a great look when you’re anxiously awaiting the arrival of Grey’s Anatomy’s sexy doc Justin Chambers. byphoto_sarah.gif

janncarl.jpgIn the “You’re No Better Than Me,” department, one of the best moments on the red carpet involved Entertainment Tonight correspondent Jann Carl. While Jann was interviewing people she was standing out on the actual red carpet, which apparently is a major no-no. She was supposed to stand behind these three foot high shrubs with us and lean over to talk to the celebs. So security came over to move the media diva behind the potted plants barrier. Well, Jann was none to pleased to have to be corralled back there next to me and Suzy -- my guess is because we looked so great, she paled in comparison. So there was all this commotion and drama because while security was trying to move her, Jann was all “the show much go on,” and she was still trying to get interviews. Meanwhile, one of her handlers set up a step-ladder, which seriously appeared out of thin air, for her to use to climb over the bushes so Jann didn’t have to straddle the trees in her red gown. Oh, how I wish she did straddle the trees, because I was right there at the ready with my camera and what a great shot that would’ve been.byphoto_sarah.gif

E_HughLaurie2_136.jpgThen it was off to the TV guide party where I got to meet my celeb crush Hugh Laurie from Fox’s House. The highlight of the evening was watching Hugh’s band, BandFromTV perform. It’s the band made up of a bunch of TV stars including James Denton (Desperate Housewives) and Greg Grunberg (Felicity, Alias).

E_ZachBraff_68.jpgWhile Hugh was jamming on stage to "Mustang Sally," I spied my other favorite TV doctor Zach Braff from Scrubs -- sorry, Noah Wyle, you’ve been replaced- enjoying the show. And by “enjoying it” I mean he looked like he would have rather been playing in the band instead of watching it. So many TV doctors, so few TV bands. byphoto_sarah.gif
