I need to know - what did everyone think of ABC's new show Castle?

Castle
, which airs Mondays on ABC at 10 pm, stars Nathon Fillion as Richard Castle, a crime story writer who is called upon by the NYPD to help them catch a killer who has been staging scenes depicted in his novels. Castle then stays on to help/annoy/shadow the cops, including Kate Beckett (Stana Katic), with whom he works most closely.

Considering there are so many crime shows on TV, a new show has to be incredible to get me to watch it. And unfortunately, Castle didn't do it for me. The premise was too close to The Mentalist, yet the storylines and characters were nowhere near as smart.

The show couldn't end soon enough for me, though I did get a laugh when the promos for this Monday's show came on. While describing the episode's case, the promo used the line, "The ink's not dry," which set my boyfriend and I off on a rampage of coming up with new corny lines they could use. Here are some of the ones we thought of:

"Another page can still be turned."

"Don't close the book just yet."

"Some stories don't have endings."

"Don't judge a case by its cover."

"You might want to bookmark this chapter."

"The cops and the killers aren't on the same page."

That said, I asked my Facebook fans and Twitter followers how they felt about the show, and much to my surprise, they seemed to like it. Andrew Hofstetter wrote, "I thought it was good -- a little predictable at times -- but it's a great premise." Jessica Kuhn added, "I love Nathan Fillion and it seemed like it could be interesting -- a little predictable but good characters."

So, everyone seems to agree on the predictable front, but what did you all think?

LipstickJunglepumpkins.jpgAs we head into midseason TV (yes, we're almost there!), you might just be wondering what TV will still be around. Midseason is usually a time where some fall shows are canceled and the midseason shows return.

For example, the fabulous Damages returns to FX on January 7. Fan favorite Lost hits the small screen on January 21 with a three-hour premiere. (Yes, three-hours! Woohoo!)

Not every show is so lucky. NBC has pulled the plug on its freshman series starring Christian Slater, My Own Worst Enemy, as well as the sophomore drama, Lipstick Jungle. Both shows' ratings had dropped considerably in the past few weeks.

Fox has also canceled one of its longest running shows, MADtv. According to the show's co-creator, David Salzman (who wants to shop it to other networks), the comedy was becoming too expensive for its time slot and ratings.

And then there's the ill-fated Pushing Daisies. It's one of the most unique, colorful, entertaining shows on television, and yet it can't seem to catch a break in the ratings. Producers were told to make their last episode a possible series finale. But show creator Brian Fuller has other plans in mind... if the show does meet an early end, he said at the Paley Center for Media that "the idea would be to finish out the season's story arcs in comic books."

So, what do you think?

Courteney Cox Arquette's tabloid drama on FX, Dirt, has not been picked up for a third season.

This might just be music to some people's ears, as many viewers didn't think the show about Lucy Spiller, the ruthless tabloid editor, should have even received a second season.

Personally, I'm happy about the cancellation. For some reason Dirt was one of those shows that I couldn't stand, and yet I felt a need to watch it week after week. Now I'll have more time on my hands to read the real tabloids.

For those Courteney fans out there, don't fear: Courteney has said that she and hubby David Arquette will be producing much more stuff together. However, now that we've seen Dirt, maybe that's not a good thing?

Bad news for all you Men in Trees fans: the ABC drama has been canceled.

As Jenny Bicks, creator of the show, told TV Guide's Michael Ausiello:
"I wish the show had not been moved six times and put onto two long hiatuses. No show could survive that."

So true.

It seems to be a trend these days... if a show doesn't get excellent ratings after it's first two airings, it gets moved to another -- usually worse -- time slot. And if the show still doesn't do well, but is somehow luckily enough to stay on the air, it might even get moved a few more times.  Apparently it's supposed to help the show -- but really, how can even the loyal fans keep track of when it airs?

Men in Trees will return to ABC with its last few episodes on May 28. If it's any solace to viewers who don't want to be left hanging, the Men in Trees team prepared for the possible cancellation by shooting an alternate season finale that will now work as the series ender.

The AMAZING comedy How I Met Your Mother returned to the airwaves last night. While it wasn't one of their funniest episodes (it was more introspective), it still had that great How I Met Your Mother vibe that is what draws us all to the show.

And, next week, Britney Spears will be on! Fingers crossed that millions of people will watch because of Brit Brit, realize how fabulous the show is and then become lifelong How I Met Your Mother fans so that it stays on the air forever.

Until then, for some crazy reason, the show has yet to be renewed.

Do you think it should be? Vote now!
