Warner Bros. Television and the CW announced Thursday that female fave the Gilmore Girls is ending its run after seven seasons. The final episode of the mother-daughter dramedy will air May 15 -- Mother's Day.
According to TVGuide.com, Lauren Graham, who plays Lorelai Gilmore, taped a segment for next Tuesday's Ellen DeGeneres Show in which she said she's not surprised by the cancellation.
"It was a conversation that was going on for a long time," she said. "I think it's really a good thing.... It's the best thing for the show, and I feel really good about it."
She may feel good about it, but we'll be sad. Lorelai and Rory are like old friends and we're sad to see them fade into TV history.
Gilmore Girls is the only show I got on the bandwagon from the start. All my other fave shows I've joined late in the game and had to play catch up. So I have an incredible fondness for Rory, Lorelai and all the nutty residents of Stars Hollow.
Much to my dismay it appears that the show might not be returning for an eighth season! According to reports, Alexis Bledel is done-zo playing Rory Gilmore and doesn't want to come back for another year. So just continue on without her, you're saying to yourself. Wrong! Lauren Graham says she won't come back unless Alexis Bledel does. Love the solidarity ladies, but this is one of my favorite shows you're playing with here and after the sudden loss of Everwood last year I'm not sure I have it in me to continue on if Gilmore Girls goes off the air as well.
But don't pull out your tissues just yet because I've heard that the CW president is going to do "whatever it takes," to keep the ladies firmly planted in Stars Hollow. Just an FYI, I'm available if anyone needs me to help out in the negotiations.
Hello all my fellow Gilmore Girls Fans, have I got a delicious spoiler dish for you they will not be serving up at Luke's Diner (or Kirk's Diner for that matter). TV Guide got an exclusive interview with Gilmore Girls Executive Producer David Rosenthal where he reveals some of the upcoming plot details we fans can look forward to in November sweeps. The big bombshell is... drumroll please... Lorelai and Christopher take a trip to Paris and ELOPE! That's right, the high school sweethearts finally tie the knot and now Rory, at age 21, finally has a family.
Now I'm a Luke and Lorelai fan, but I'm not devastated by this news because I think it will be really interesting to see how it all plays out. First of all, I'm curious to see how the town of Stars Hollow will react to Christopher's arrival, they all love Luke, except Taylor. And of course how will Emily and Richard feel that they weren't invited to the wedding, you know Emily loves a good society event and finally Rory, will she be too wrapped up in her Logan drama to even care? More Logan I say, in case you people over at Gilmore Girls are reading this. So looking forward to tonight's episode.
So for the past three months I have been completely obsessed with the McDreamy/McVet/Meredith Grey’s Anatomy love triangle that I’ve totally forgotten about the love triangle going on over at Gilmore Girls which premieres tonight at 8 p.m. on the CW.
For those of you who have forgotten, here’s a little recap of the finale: When last we saw Lorelai Gilmore she was bearing her heart and soul to fiancée Luke, begging him for answers about when they were going to get married. Luke had no answers, so Lorelai said she deserved some because for the past year she’s been letting him figure things out, giving him space, biting her tongue. I hate it when I bite my tongue, I always re-bite it over and over in the same place, man that hurts, but I digress.
