"I am so very excited," Vanessa told People. "I can't begin to think how much fun we'll have."
She might not be having as much fun as she hopes as the one person not so sure about committing to the film is her co-star and boyfriend, Zac Efron. Since his debut in the hit movie Hairspray, Zac's stock has risen significantly and has only agreed to do the movie "if the script is good."
Hey, Zac, this is Hollywood, baby. The script being bad has never stopped anyone before! It's a paycheck, probably a big one, so here's my advice: DO IT!

According to OK! Magazine the starlet will not be getting asked back to do High School Musical 3 and will likely be replaced by one of the Cheetah Girls — Adrienne Baillon or Sabrina Bryan.
"Disney finally decided that they don’t want her back,” an insider reveals to OK!. “They feel that as long as Zac Efron is in the movie, all will be fine. He’s the real star — the household name — and, most importantly, he comes without baggage."
Sure, Zac Effron has no baggage... yet. I'm sure Perez Hilton is furiously working to out him. They better start filming HSM 3 today.
Update: Access Hollywood is reporting that Vanessa's people have denied the rumor that Disney fired her and in fact they are still in negotiations for the upcoming High School Musical 3. Stay tuned!
What is it with starlets thinking that it's ever okay to be photographed with their clothes off? I don't get it! They know they're going to wind up on the Web. The latest casualty of this never-ending trend? None other than Vanessa Hudgens of High Musical fame. It's a Disney movie for crying out loud. She should know better! Does she want to end up like Paris Hilton? I certainly hope not.

Once the pictures were released, Vanessa's camp did some major damage control, with her releasing the following statement to TMZ.com:
"This was a photo which was taken privately. It is a personal matter and it is unfortunate that this has become public."
No, Vanessa, what's unfortunate is that you chose to take the picture in the first place. And what's even more unfortunate is that your pretend man-candy/costar Zac Efron will probably have to find a new costar to pretend to date, since you're going to hurt his "It" boy status with this bad-girl rep.
Weigh in on Vanessa's lapse of judgement below. I know you want to.

I'll be honest with you: I have not seen Disney's High School Musical 2. (Insert gasps and "how could you's?? here). But apparently, I'm the only one.
According to the latest ratings, the premiere of High School Musical 2 brought in 17.24 million viewers on Friday. That's crazy. Like really, really, ridiculously crazy. As in, it brought in almost the same number as the season finale of Fox's House, which had 17.26 million viewers. As in, the original movie made record-breaking history by being the "most-watched basic cable telecast of all time," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

For all of you HSM lovers, get excited because plans are in the works for two more made-for-Disney movies, as well as a big-screen version of the movie and a stage adaptation. As long as Zac Efron (here with costar and possible gal pal Vanessa Hudgens) signs on, instant hits are sure to follow.
For those of you, like me, who somehow missed out on the phenomenon, catch the next replay Thursday, August 23 at 8pm.
So tell me, why do you like High School Musical? What am I missing out on?
