E_LeePacePushingDaisies.jpgLittle known fact about TV star Lee Pace: His after school job in high school was working at Gallup Poll, doing surveys for Citibank. He made so many phone calls during his time there that if you tell him an area code, he'll know what city it belongs to. While that's quite the talent, it probably doesn't compare to bringing people back from the dead, right?

In the fantastical, hit ABC dramedy, Pushing Daisies, Lee, 29, stars as the endearing Ned, a pie maker whose touch can magically bring life to the dead. Of course, it's not that simple—if Ned touches that person a second time, they will be dead forever.

That brings us to Ned's current predicament. He brought his childhood sweetheart, Chuck (Anna Friel), back to life, and to keep her alive, he can never touch her again. Their chemistry is undeniably palpable and adorable, but their physical separation breaks your heart.

Upcoming episodes, however, might help piece your heart back together. Though Lee admits he's not very romantic in his own personal life (damn!), he says that not only is Ned "insanely romantic," but he "is much more romantic this season than he was last season...This year he's a little more enthusiastic about making the changes that he needs to in his life, like being a better man for Chuck." Hint: Lee said his most romantic Pushing Daisies scene to date will take place in episode five. And, in episode eight, Ned comes up with a new invention: "There's a spooning contraption so that we can spoon. It's like a plastic screen with a big arm sleeve so I can wrap my arm around Chuck." Can we all say, "awww" in unison?

Unfortunately, this season Chuck decides that she should live her second chance at life to the fullest. Will that mean becoming involved with a man she can touch? According to Lee, "It's a big possibility, but we haven't shot that yet. She's headed down that road... but the thing about Chuck and Ned is that they're soul mates. It's not going to be easy for them to split up."

For all you Ched/Nuck fans out there, don't fear. Lee knows that everyone wants to see the couple together. "It's more fun to watch Ned and Chuck against the world versus Ned and Chuck against each other."

E_DavidArquettePushingDaisi.jpgAs fans of the show know, it's not always just about Ned and Chuck. They round out their posse with Pie Hole waitress Olive Snook (Kristen Chenoweth) and private investigator Emerson Cod (Chi McBride). Expect some new faces though, as the cast will be getting bigger. David Arquette is joining the show to give Ned a friend. Of course, to be on Pushing Daisies, the character has to be quirky, and with Lee's description of David's part, he's sure to fit right in. "He has a fun hobby that's similar to Ned's hobby. He taxidermies animals, so he brings animals to life in his own way." (Notice the eyeball in David's hand in the photo on the right.) I'm getting excited just picturing these two in action together.

Be sure to check out Pushing Daisies on ABC, Wednesday nights at 8 pm.
jaclynsmithsheargenius.jpgThe second season of Bravo's Shear Genius premieres tonight at 10 p.m.

The reason I watch Shear Genius? Former Charlie's Angel Jaclyn Smith hosts the haircutting competition. And, little known fact, I, Jaclyn (Jacki) Garfinkel, am named after the angel herself. (Which is also why the picture on the left excites me so much!)

The reason you should watch Shear Genius? First, if you like Top Chef or Project Runway, there's a great chance you'll enjoy Shear Genius, as Bravo seems to know a thing or two about turning a reality show into gold. Second, the cast is a bunch of characters—all creative, all artists, all people who think their hair designs are the best. This, of course, equals drama! Third, so many of us ladies are our hair, and the show will give you tons of tips and ideas for how you may want to make over your style.

Yesterday I attended the Shear Genius event in NYC with Ysolt, the Beauty & Style producer/my event buddy. At the event, each stylist had their own mini hair boutique set up (with some crazy chairs -- see the photo after the jump), and they gave blow outs to those lucky fans who waited in line in the rain and sun.
Last week I spent some time with all the Design Star finalists of season three. When the event started, host Clive Pearse introduced each of the finalists to the audience in New York City's Greeley Square.

Though these intros did nothing to test the designers' abilities, it was a very interesting way to see how the designers were with a microphone in hand when they had to engage an audience.

Here's the rundown (in the order they were introduced), with additional comments from my interviews:

designstarjennifer.jpg Jennifer: Very spunky. On marrying a British man, she told the audience: "I suggest everyone try it." Had a lot of energy but stumbled a bit on the mic, and didn't speak very eloquently, as a host must. Later on I joked to her that I had no idea how she and her husband stayed together after only one of them was chosen to be on the show. "I'm so lucky. My husband is the coolest guy ever and he just totally supports me," she said. But if she were the one staying home? "Oh it'd be totally different," she laughed. So why did Jennifer get chosen over her man? "I think it's maybe the bubbly personality versus his. He was all mad that I didn't make him get a haircut and a shave before it. Who knows, maybe it was secret sabotage!" Jennifer said their dream would be to have a show together.

designstartricia.jpgTricia: Well-spoken, though her vocabulary could use some work. Used the word "fun" about five times during one answer she gave, and then used the word "passion" just as often in another answer. However, she did engage the audience. She's in amazing shape as well. Plus, Tricia has three kids and talked about juggling work and home life, which is appealing to people.

designstarstephanie.jpgStephanie: Very perky. When she was introduced, the song "I Will Survive" played, and Stephanie danced her way onto the stage. Had tons of energy. Surprisingly enough, she said to me, "I like the attention, but not really. I would rather live on a farm with a bunch of cows." But the reason she wants to be on TV? "It's for me to get out there—little old me—I'm not that seasoned in the design field yet. It's hard to get your name out there, especially as a young designer." What's she say to Michael then? "That's just him. I'm amazing too." And lastly, "I saw some previews of me crying... so I'm realllly excited to show everyone how upset I was," she joked.

torianddean.jpg

Tori Spelling is back in the spotlight. First, her reality show, Tori and Dean, returns to Oxygen tonight. Second, she's going to guest star on the new 90210. And third, she just gave birth to her second child, daughter Stella Doreen McDermott.

Now, when most people think of Tori Spelling, they immediately yell, "Donna Martin graduates!" (At least that's what I do.) And now that Tori is reprising her role on the 90210 spinoff, we can all rejoice in Beverly Hills happiness... except for one thing: Brian Green is busy on the Fox show Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and has no plans to return to 90210. So does that mean that Donna and David are no longer living in holy matrimony?

We spoke with Tori during a conference call recently (right before she gave birth), and she had no dish on the Donna and David relationship, except to say, "I see her as - you know, Donna was pretty determined so I see her as a hardcore, you know, career woman that's been pretty driven all these years. So it'll be interesting, at least for me, to see how that affected her marriage and where she stands with that, if they have kids and stuff. So I'm just as interested as the fans are to know where she's at."

So who do you want PJ (Jordana Spiro) to take on the plane to Italy?

I'll admit that I already know who the mystery man is, but since I don't want to ruin it for you, let's just chat as if neither of us know, okay?

First, let's go over PJ's plane choices:
  1. Evan, the botanist
  2. Thorn Packer, the globe-trotting reporter
  3. Matt Dougan, the Cubs player
Or, maybe it's a member of PJ's crew: Bobby, Brendan, Kenny, Mike, or even brother Andy?

Let me just say this, Jordana told me, "Well there's a wedding… I'm not going to say if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but there is a wedding."

A wedding!? Between whom? I can't imagine any of those guys (except Andy) settling down just yet. Maybe it's Stephanie? My guess is that it's not PJ in the white dress.

It's not that I don't think PJ will get married at some point, I just don't think the time is now. First, Jordana said, "I think I know in PJ's mind the perfect guy would really actually be a combination of all of the guys around the poker table"... and that's not an easy guy to find! Second, Jordana joked, "If Johnny Depp wanted to do a little arc, we'd be cool with that... I mean I'd have to audition him, but I think we could make it work." Sadly for the ladies on the show, I'm not so sure Mr. Depp will be stopping by any time soon. Third, I wonder if the show can really go on if PJ finds Mr. Right?
masioka.jpgWhat do you think Masi Oka is like in real life? I see him as this quietly funny guy, who can totally let loose with friends.

Who knows if I'm correct, but since I've decided to find him a lady, I figured I should get to know the guy, right?

You see, awhile back I saw Masi on Ellen and she totally made a fake classified ad for him. Well that was back in September 2007, so I figured I should update it for all the ladies out there. It'd be a mitzvah of sorts.

First of all, the good news is that Masi told me he "could still use a classified." That means he's single! (Who's swooning?)

Now, before we get to what Masi's looking for in a woman (suspense!), here's why you should want to date him.

1. He's totally modest. He still has the same car he had before he got famous. It's his way of staying humble.

2. He cares about the environment. Masi's old car (see #1) is starting to break down, and since he needs a car that actually functions, he "might be getting a hybrid very soon."

3. He's chill. "I'm not into big, flashy kinds of stuff," Masi said.

4. He's really great at yelling "Yatta!" in a really goofy, yet cute, way (Heroes fans know what I'm talking about). Plus, Masi said that this season "they want him to be more goofy again. It's a hard balance to make him grow but still be fun." And if anyone can do that, Hiro Nakamura can.

Now that that's been established, here's all you have to do to score a date with Masi Oka. You must be "someone who's grounded and smart and has a great sense of humor."

If only I didn't have such a huge crush on Milo, I'd totally apply.
miloventimiglia.jpg
I never really had a thing for Milo Ventimiglia. I definitely liked watching him as Jess on Gilmore Girls and I love when he flies on Heroes, but it ended at that.

Well, all that quickly changed the moment I saw him in person on the NBC red carpet. I kid you not, I saw Milo from afar and I started to get butterflies. I immediately blurted out to the reporters around me, "I think I have a crush on Peter Petrelli." (Peter, of course, is the character Milo plays on Heroes.)

Luckily I was able to keep my composure during our interview, but that didn't stop me from running home to my boyfriend to tell him I love Milo. Plus, I even think I may take down my Robert Downey, Jr. computer background and replace it with Milo.

Anywayyyyy, being a massive Gilmore Girls fan (I totally bought my mom a GG card for Mother's Day), I had to ask Milo if he cares that so many people still refer to him as Jess.

"You know what, that's all part of my upbringing. There's been a lot of work that I've done and I don't deny the fact that Jess was my first real thrust into the public eye. But I appreciate it. I enjoy that people are fans of that. And I'll tell you what. That was an amazing show. A great show."

realhousewives.jpgDoes that picture make you laugh? Or is it just me?

Anyway, the Real Housewives of NYC were out in full force at the NBC red carpet. You could tell they've been trained well, because when anyone asked them for scoop, they chimed in with the Bravo line, "Watch what happens!"

First things first, I wanted to know how Alex felt about what went down at the reunion show, when the other housewives were totally attacking her.

Her reaction?

"You know what, it is a reality show. It's not brain surgery. It's meant to be entertaining. It is meant to provide people with a little bit of an escape when they turn on the tube at the end of a long day. And if us doing what we do can provide that, then really what's the harm?"

Okay, well that didn't really answer my question, so I pried some more. Her answer this time?

"If someone came up to you and said you are a fire truck, would you suddenly believe that you were one?"

Oooooh, well in that case...

Moving on, Ramona had on so much makeup. It must have taken 50 hours to put in. Scary. Jill said her stepson is out of the hospital, and, "We're about to have a baby in the family. I don't want to say who, and it's not mine." (Any guesses?)

Lastly, I told Bethenny she should be a standup comic. I also told her it seems like she's only on the show to promote herself since she is so not a typical housewife (heck, she's not even a housewife). Bethenny totally agreed. She's not acting—she's the same in person as she is on the show. "You went to lunch with me," she said (about a lunch the two of us had a little over a year ago). "You know exactly what I'm like."

And that is why Bethenny is my favorite fake housewife. Who's yours?
mollyshannon.jpgFunny lady Molly Shannon will be gracing our TV screens once again, when her new comedy Kath & Kim premieres Tuesdays this fall on NBC.

Kath & Kim is based on the Australian version of the show about a dysfunctional mother and daughter who move back in together. Molly will be playing mom Kath to daughter Kim, played by Selma Blair.

The first thing I wanted to know: How the heck is Molly playing Selma's mom? Plus, you'd think most actresses are too vain to do that. But not Molly.

"The two women in the Australian series are the same age. People don't know that. They play mother and daughter, but they're from a comedy troupe and they're the same age... So I don't mind. I'm like if the part's good, I don't care about that. I feel like comedy kind of frees you from that."

For those of you who loved Molly's comedy on Saturday Night Live, you won't be disappointed, as she'll definitely have fun getting into character:

"She [Kath] wears jumpsuits and thinks she's sexy and wears leotards. French manicures with diamonds. All about the nails. She's a hairdresser so she has two different hairstyles. Always changing her hair. Different tones of color in her hair. Maybe two different cuts together... She thinks she's stylish."
kathygriffin.jpgEveryone knows you can't talk to Kathy Griffin of Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, without hearing her bash celebrities. But, that's why we love Kathy.

While chatting with Kathy on the red carpet, I asked her about her day with Adnan Ghalib, you know... the paparazzo that Britney Spears was/is dating.

"I was in the Britney scene because we were in the same car that he used to take her around in... or does. I don't know if they're still together. He says they are but I don't know if they are."

See, no mean jokes! That is until Kathy mentioned what she'd talk about if she had to do standup tonight:

"Miley being a slut."

As for the upcoming season of D-List which returns on June 12, Kathy will "start my own line because every reality person has to start their own clothing lines. And mine's a f--king disaster. I cannot give it away."

There will also be a ton of celebrity guests on the show, featuring everyone from Rosie O'Donnell (in her "craftroom where she does the blogs from") to Olivia Newton John ("who is like the Pope").
tinafey.jpgWhen I last spoke with Tina Fey about Baby Mama, everyone wanted to know how she's able to juggle all her jobs while also being a mom.

Well, I got a chance to chat with Tina again at last night's NBC red carpet, so this time I asked her about a time when all that juggling just didn't do the trick.

First Tina explained that she can't do it alone, and she has a great momtourage to back her up:

"I gotta be very honest and say I have a really great nanny and then I also have my nanny's daughter who also works for us. It takes four adults a lot of times to cover taking care of one little kid."

Then the fabulous 30 Rock star shared a little story of when she just couldn't get the job done:

"The other night I had this whole thing where I was like, 'We're going to have family night and we're going to make pizza.' We went to make the pizza and my husband turned on the TV in the middle of it and I got really mad because I was planning to show my daughter an educational DVD after the pizza. And then she just wanted to watch SpongeBob and she didn't want to make the pizza anymore. So he turned it off and she cried and I cried. It took us like ten minutes to rally and get pizza night back on track."

See, even the stars aren't perfect!

timgunn.jpgYesterday I spent my afternoon at the NBC Universal Experience. It was AMAZING. I did over 25 interviews for you folks, with everyone from Christian Slater to Molly Shannon to Donald Trump, and oh yeah, the cast of Heroes, plus many others!

Stay tuned for more scoop on my convos with the stars throughout the week.

But, in the meantime, I have to explain the headline of this entry.

You see, I have an obsession with Old Navy shoes. I knew I'd be standing for hours at the NBC red carpet, so without thinking twice, I threw on my Old Navy flats. No heels for the red carpet! What I didn't realize was that I would be interviewing Tim Gunn of Project Runway and Tim Gunn's Guide to Style.

Well, when my buddy at TV Guide asked Tim what the "it" accessory is for summer, he started to say:

"Summer is a time to be relaxed, to not take yourself too seriously. Have a wonderful ballet flat that you love. It could be metallic. It could be some crazy wonderful stripe. It could be embellished with something..." and then he looked down at our shoes and noticed we were both wearing flats.

And he said our shoes were cute!!!

So what did I do? No, I didn't just say thank you. I told him they were Old Navy shoes. Not many people would admit the brand of their shoes to a fashion guru unless it was Prada or Gucci or something crazy expensive. But, Tim Gunn, bless his heart, said, "You don't have to spend a lot of money for fashion!"

So today, here I am back in the office, sporting another pair of my Old Navy flats, with great pride. Because, hey, Tim Gunn approved!

If you're a Trading Spaces fan, you know how great the news is that Paige Davis has rejoined the show as host once again.

For those of you who watched TLC's Trading Spaces when Paige was on the show, you know that once she left, everything changed. Paige added a spunk and fervor to the show that only she could muster.

iVillage talked to Paige to get her take on returning to the show, her fun with the cast, and scoop on future episodes.

On Returning to the Show…
"First off, I had to be asked," Paige laughed. "That was a surprise and a shock in itself. But the first question I asked in return was 'Which Trading Spaces are you asking me to return to?' Since I had left, the show had morphed into many different versions, most of which I didn't recognize as Trading Spaces anymore.

Paige's goal? To bring back to the "old school Trading Spaces." Though Paige admitted, prior to be asked by TLC, she hadn't even thought about returning.

On Why She Left…
Why was Paige Davis asked to leave Trading Spaces? "I really have no idea. I speculate as much as anyone else," Paige responded honestly. She added, "The decision to no longer use me and to no longer use the host was one in a list of many, many decisions to try to keep the show fresh, keep Trading Spaces new and fresh in a day of so many other shows that we inspired and then became our competition. Personally, I think that particular decision was the worst in the list, and I was actually very hurt by it. It came very suddenly and was done very swiftly. There was a level of cruelty that came with it. It was really mean and weird and it came out of left field."
