I'll be the first to admit how emotional I was when I watched Meredith Vieira's first appearance on The View as a guest instead of a co-host. And now, it's Lisa Ling's turn.
Lisa, who currently works with National Geographic and Oprah, will return to The View for her first-ever guest appearance on the show, live Thursday, March 27 at 11 a.m. on ABC.
I had the privilege of interviewing Lisa when Meredith was leaving The View. My favorite thing about Lisa? She purposely joined The View so she could gain popularity in order to attain her dream job - a job at a network like National Geographic where she could take part in more long-form, educational journalism.
Not many people would leave The View for National Geographic. Pretty impressive.
The first time Lisa watched The View (which was when she heard they were looking for a co-host to fill the spot of the "young one"), she said she found it to be empowering to watch five generations of women talking about everything from politics to Tom Cruise. She said, "At the time I loved Tom Cruise, before he got weird."
Then in statement that proves why she left The View, Lisa added, "I like pop culture as much as anybody, but it felt weird to do it as a job."
I can't wait to set my TiVo to see Lisa's View appearance. Will you watch?

To make it up to him, Ellen invited the reality tv star on her show to apologize in person for misjudging him for jilting not one but two women on the show's season finale last week. Ellen told her audience that after calling him a jerk, she realized she had no idea what his side of the story is, so that's why she invited him on to set the record straight.
On the show Brad said he did regret telling finalist DeAnna Pappis that the proposal day would be a "good day," for her and made it clear that he never told the producers of the show to fly in her father, which got DeAnna's hopes up that she was definitely getting a ring.
I'm glad Ellen is so open minded about admitting her mistakes. Now only if she cared so much about her striking writers as she does about Brad who she had never met before and will never see again.

I actually feel for Meredith, that's not an easy thing to go through. And I love her on The Today Show, she's just a breath of fresh air. How do you think Mer is doing in the hottest hosting chair?
Our very own gossip queen Suzy's crush is celebrating a very big anniversary today. David Letterman arrived on the late night TV scene twenty five years ago today. Audiences originally didn't know what to make of the smart ass, many celebrities didn't even want to be a guest on his show because they thought he was "mean." Now that he's become a household name, people are tripping over themselves trying to get on the show.
On tonight's episode, in honor of his twenty-fifth anniversary, Dave will have Bill Murray on as his guest who was his very first guest back on February 1st, 1982.
I wonder what Suzy is going to get Mr. Letterman for his big day. Traditionally it's silver, Suzy.
Do you hate Rachael Ray? Well, if you do, you’re not the only one . More than 1,000 people have joined the livejournal anti-Rachael Ray community . The first rule of the community is, “you must be anti-Rachael.” I’m not sure I have an opinion either way. I saw her on Oprah once and she taught me to make a nice lemony cocktail that went over big at a party I threw, but other than that, I know nothing about this woman, but now I’m so curious about her.
How come she’s so hated? What has she done to garner an entire website dedicated to hating her? What are your thoughts on Rachael Ray?
I watch Larry King every night, I don't know why, but I like that old guy, even though he cut me in line at the local Beverly Hills coffee shop a few months ago. But last night Larry had on Clay Aiken and I totally missed it. What did Clay say on the show? WHAT DID I MISS? Did Larry ask any hard hitting questions? Someone please tell me!
If you're a real Oprah afficianado and can't seem to get enough of her just from her daily show you're in luck. She has launched a new talk show on XM satellite radio and she's bringing a bunch of her friends with her. They include her best friend, Gayle King, Dr. Robin Smith who always knows what’s going on in the heads of every Oprah guest, Dr. Oz who can answer any health question and Nate Berkus, decorator to the stars. They're all going to be on Larry King Live tonight to promote the show so tune in to find out more about it. And if you have a burning question for Oprah or need tips on how to turn a bedroom into an office, drop them an email and your question might get answered on air.
So I just got some Tyra Mail in my inbox. Apparently Beyonce Knowles, all around superstar and girlfriend of producer Jay-Z is going to be on The Tyra Banks Show today for a rare one-on-one hour long interview. She has a lot of interesting things to say starting with her relationship with Jay-Z:
“We never consciously talk about anything… Everything we do is natural. We just live our lives and we never say, ‘Ok, now we are going to go to games…’ We just live our lives.”
Say what? Does anyone speak Beyonce because I’m gonna need a translator to understand what the even means.
She's also going to open up about her alter ego, ‘Sasha.” HER WHAT?!
“It’s just something that takes over me and we named it ‘Sasha’ because it is like two different people for me and I love performing, but I think I am a little boring in real life So I’ve kind of created this character and I lose myself completely. I don’t even remember what I do when I am performing.”
So the last time I went to her concert Beyonce wasn’t there? It was Sasha? I’m not so sure ‘Sasha’ was worth my 65 bucks.
But it does not matter, just from the quotes I’ve read, I need to see this interview today. Nothing I like more than when celebs don’t have their publicist by their side to stop them from talking crazy. Anyone remember a Couch Jumping Tom Cruise?
