Remember how sad everyone was when Sex and the City ended and then all those rumors about SATC movie started circulating? Oh wait... they still are...
Anyway, I'm predicting the same thing is going to happen with The Sopranos. David Chase, the big boss from show, says there are no plans for a big-screen hit now, but he's open to the idea in the future. He told the Newark Star-Ledger, "I don't think about [a movie] much. I never say never. An idea could pop into my head where I would go, 'Wow, that would make a great movie,' but I doubt it."
He continued, "I'm not being coy. If something appeared that really made a good Sopranos movie and you could invest in it and everybody else wanted to do it, I would do it. But I think we've kind of said it and done it."
Still, I don't think we've seen the last of Tony and the gang. There's too much money to be made by doing a film for these gangsters to dismiss it. What do you think?
Last night's series finale of The Sopranos ended without bloodshed, without any major character hits... Just Tony eatin' some onion rings. For all of you Sopranos' fans, were you surprised? Outraged? Disappointed? I sure as heck was! I've invested waaay too much time into the show to not get some kind of resolution. Agree? Disagree? Weigh in below!
If this season could be summed up in one word, I'd call it unhinged. Despite the various scenarios Tony has found himself in through the years, the mafia boss always had control. This season, he lost it with his "family" connections called into question. Suddenly he worried people were being disloyal, which made him lose is footing. He never would have killed Christopher, who was like a son to him. But there he was stealing Christopher's last breaths. Last week, his closest goombahs, bro-in-law Bobby and right-hand man Silvio, were whacked. Well, Silvio is still alive, but he's a vegetable. I consider that whacked.
The last we saw of Tony, he was laying on a bed in a safehouse, clutching an uzi and trying not to fall asleep. It seemed his days (hours, ninutes) were numbered. Or will Carmela get it? Meadow and the troubled AJ? His widowed sister?
I can't wait to see it.
Tune in on Sunday night at 9pm on HBO.
The Sopranos return from a ten year hiatus (at least it feels that long) for their final nine episodes this Sunday night. I cannot wait. These episodes are going to be oh, so good.
In last season's premiere, Tony got shot by Uncle Jr. I wonder what they have in store for us this year!
Are you a fan of the show? Are you sad it's ending this year? Talk back about The Sopranos below.
Sopranos fans will be happy to learn that HBO has set a rough premiere date for the final episodes of the hit drama. According to the Sopranos homepage, “the show’s final season will start sometime in April.” Sure they haven’t nailed down a specific date, but it’s much better than the ol’ “The Sopranos will return sometime in the future,” information we usually get.
The show was scheduled to premiere next month but had to be pushed back because of star James Gandolfini’s emergency knee surgery that stopped production. HBO will start re-airing season six sometime in mid-January for those fans who may have missed the twelve week run earlier this year.
