I'll be the first to admit how emotional I was when I watched Meredith Vieira's first appearance on The View as a guest instead of a co-host. And now, it's Lisa Ling's turn.
Lisa, who currently works with National Geographic and Oprah, will return to The View for her first-ever guest appearance on the show, live Thursday, March 27 at 11 a.m. on ABC.
I had the privilege of interviewing Lisa when Meredith was leaving The View. My favorite thing about Lisa? She purposely joined The View so she could gain popularity in order to attain her dream job - a job at a network like National Geographic where she could take part in more long-form, educational journalism.
Not many people would leave The View for National Geographic. Pretty impressive.
The first time Lisa watched The View (which was when she heard they were looking for a co-host to fill the spot of the "young one"), she said she found it to be empowering to watch five generations of women talking about everything from politics to Tom Cruise. She said, "At the time I loved Tom Cruise, before he got weird."
Then in statement that proves why she left The View, Lisa added, "I like pop culture as much as anybody, but it felt weird to do it as a job."
I can't wait to set my TiVo to see Lisa's View appearance. Will you watch?

The View co-host gave birth to son "No Name Hasselbeck" Friday morning at an Arizona hospital.
"Elisabeth and I are happy to announce the arrival of our son and we're thrill he arrived safely," Tim, Elisabeth's not really good enough to be an NFL quarterback husband, said in a statement. "Both mom and son are happy and healthy."
The name of their son wasn't disclosed because Elisabeth is planning to officially announce his name this morning on the The View. That's how my parents announced my name too.
Elisabeth is currently on a two and half month maternity leave from the daytime all-gal gab fest. In case Elisabeth is reading this, don't be afraid to take some more time off, seriously, there's no point to come back until the spring... you know what, make that the summer. Oh, but then it's almost the holidays, why don't we just see you sometime on 2009.
UPDATE: Elisabeth announced this morning by phone call to The View that her new son's name is Taylor. That's a sweet name, I'm not even going to make fun of it. See? I can be nice.
Good News: Elisabeth Hasselbeck has announced she's leaving The View sometime around November 8th or 9th.
Bad News: She'll be back.
The preggers co-host intends to work right up to her due date and is then reportedly going to follow her hubby, on again, off again NFL quarterback Tim Hasselbeck to Arizona where he is about to be offered the backup quarterback job with the Cardinals.
Celebrity co-hosts will be sitting in Elisabeth's chair until she gets back. Please let Donald Trump be one of those celebs, then I'd finally start watching the show again.
Well, the long awaited return of Meredith Vieira to The View is finally upon us! I love Meredith but man, you have no idea how badly I wish it was Rosie returning! Especially since her announcement last week that Babs fired her from the all gal gab fest .
I digress. Meredith’s appearance on today’s show is to promote her Who Wants To Be A Millionaire game show and the new DVD game. I guess it does need a little promoting seeing as I didn’t even know that show was on anymore.
Since Mer’s June 2006 departure from The View, the roller coaster ride I’ve been on what with the constant drama these ladies drum up every week has been like a drug I just can’t quit! Although if anything makes me stop watching the show it’s gonna be Whoopi, she bugs big time!
Yay! One of our favorite bloggers -- and Today show host -- Meredith Vieira is returning to The View. No, she's not replacing new cohosts Sherri Shepherd or Whoopi Goldberg already, but she is going to make a guest appearance on October 8. Marking my calendar now...

Her return will be the first time she's joined The View gals since she left the show in 2006 to cohost Today. Because she's such a fabulous multitasker, she also hosts the game show Who Wants to be a Millionaire? and will be promoting some kind of video game version of the game show.
If Barbara Walters really wanted to shake things up, she should invite Star Jones and Rosie O'Donnell back, too. And hey, while she's at it, why not tack on a segment or two with Donald Trump? Kidding.
Unsurprisingly, comedian and sometimes guest-host Sherri Shepherd will officially be joining the ladies at The View. In the beginning of the summer, she was rumored to be taking the spot but then ran into problems during salary negotiations. Those snags have apparently been worked through as sources are confirming to People.com that Sherri will absolutely fill the fifth and final seat on the talk show, joining newbie Whoopi Goldberg, who began her tenure as the show's moderator this week.

I really thought Whoopi Goldberg was going to make The View even more boring that it already was, but she's gone all Sister Act (loved that movie) and surprised me! On her first day, she brought about major controversy regarding the Michael Vick dogfighting charges, saying his, um, hobby was "not that unusual" in the South, where Vick is from. PETA's freaking out, people from the south are freaking out, we love it (not the dogfighting, obvi., but the drama!). Even fired cohost Rosie O'Donnell thinks Whoopi did good.

So, this season of The View appears to be off to a good start. Plus, Barbara Walters announced on air that the other empty seat (vacated when Meredith Vieira went to the Today Show last year -- love your blog, Mer!) will be filled next Monday, September 10.
Let's have it: What do YOU think of Whoopi's first two days on the job, and -- here we go again -- who do you think will be the next cohost to join The View? Sherri Shepherd? Kathy Griffin? Plus, what's your take on Whoopi's comments about Michael Vick?
Say hello to the newly announced View cohost: Whoopi Goldberg!
Even though I'm not the biggest fan, sources have told TMZ.com, "View execs wanted a black woman who was funny. They also wanted a funny white woman but Roseanne (Barr) was too expensive and they felt she was past her prime. And as for Gayle King, we're told, "it just wasn't happening."
Whoopi will officially join the cast the day after Labor Day. Reports of comedian Sherri Shepherd joining the show weren't even mentioned let alone substaniated. Whoopi told her new colleagues she doesn't have any interest in starting a celeb feud a la Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Rosie O'Donnell -- saying she's too mellow for that.
And that is why I think she's wrong person for the job. If there's one thing The View needs, it's drama. What do you think?
Naturally, ABC isn't admitting anything just yet, but the L.A. Times is reporting that Rosie O'Donnell's replacement on The View -- or should I say two replacements -- have been chosen. And they are... (drum roll, please)
Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd!!!!
Crickets, anyone? Could they have picked two more boring people to bring on the show? You know things are bad when suddenly Kathy Griffin seems like a really good idea. ABC is expected to make the official announcement sometime next week.
What do you think of Whoopi and Sherri? Do you disagree with me and think they're a great fit for The View? Or are you as bored to tears as me?
The big announcement gossip blogger Perez Hilton has been teasing all week? He's getting his own show on VH1. What Perez Sez is scheduled to begin airing in September and is essentially going to be the TV version of his blog. Congrats, Perez!

***Photo taken of my TV while watch The View today***
One suggestion, though: Don't keep that orange 'do you had going on during your appearance on The View today. It's not working so well for 'ya. Just trying to help! Call me if you need a suggestion for a new colorist. I can help!
Does anyone like Perez's pumpkin head?
Despite rumors earlier this week that Ivanka Trump might be filling Rosie O'Donnell's seat on The View, The Donald's daughter says it's completely untrue.
"There's zero chance I would do that," she told Ryan Seacrest during his KIIS FM radio show. "I'm working on the sexiest projects around the world," said Ivanka, who is the Vice President of real estate development and acquisitions for her father's company. "So to me to be on a television show every single day at a designated period of time just wouldn't work for my schedule."
She is, however, still open to some guest appearances on the show and says she has no bad feelings toward Barbara Walters, even though her father has openly feuded with her.
No, not that Trump! Remember The Donald is going to busy not getting ratings for his seventh season of The Apprentice. But a Page Six source says The View is looking to daughter Ivanka Trump to fill Rosie O'Donnell's seat.
It's an interesting idea, but I'm not sold on her being the right person. For one thing, I think she's too close to the likes of Elisabeth Hasselbeck. For another, some are saying that Barbara Walters is refusing to hire anyone related to Donald because of his feud with Rosie last season. Still, I think she's a better option than, say, Kathy Griffin.
What do you think? Would Ivanka make a good addition to The View?
They say time heals all wounds, but apparently not enough time has passed for Rosie O'Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
Last month's hatchet that sparked us to form Teams Rosie and Elisabeth has not yet been buried, according to an interview Access Hollywood conducted with Elisabeth. "You know, truthfully, I think a friend is someone who you have positive communications with, so I don't know if I would define us as friends right now.”
I get the feeling that the pregnant View co-host is fairly sad at the way everything went down. Elisabeth adds that, though they were close in the past, she can't predict things to come for herself and Ro.
"I did define us as friends, but I'm not going to make the leap to assume that we will or will not be friends in the future. We had so many conversations and a true friendship…If you looked at the big picture I always looked at us on the same team, even though our politics were so different."
Still no word on who will be filling Rosie's highly sought after seat.
Get ready for your laugh of the day. Barbara Walters actually entertained the idea of allowing Paris Hilton to cohost The View sometime. In fact, she went as far as defending the heiress to the show's executive producer Bill Geddie. When he said Paris wasn't welcome, she said she was -- on air! Ha!
But don't look for Paris to fill Rosie's still-hot seat anytime soon. B-dubs says she hasn't even spoken with jailbird about scoring the first post-incarceration interview.
I kind of agree with Babs -- Paris would always give the show something to talk about. Then again, I'm not sure she's capable of an hour's worth of coherent sentences. What do you think? Can you imagine Paris on The View?
ABC had better work fast if they want to snag Rosie O'Donnellfor another ratings blitz.
NBC's new programming chief, Ben Silverman, is telling friends he will do anything to get Golden Ro a gig on the network. The head honcho is talking to Rosie about hosting a prime-time game show, as well as a daytime talkfest.
Rosie's final ratings on The View reached unprecedented numbers, so she's one hot commodity, to say the least.
I think Rosie would be great as a game show host -- she tends to yell a lot, loves confetti, and is known to break into song with little coaxing. Very entertaining. I'm thinking she should get her hands on a show that finds talent for Broadway a la last summer's Grease reality show. That lady loves her a good musical.
Then I will pray for the return of Battle of the Network Stars, so Ro and Elisabeth Hasselbeck can meet up at the dunk tank.

Dear Rosie,
I'm begging you. Please, please, please just SHUT UP! Stop talking, stop writing, stop putting up Haiku's or whatever on your blog. Go on tour with Cyndi Lauper and do as the song says, "... have fun! Oh, girls just wanna have fun." I was in your corner last week, but this has just gone on for too long.
Warm regards,
Lindsey
Who else wants Rosie to stop talking? And for those curious cats out there, yes, of course I brought you the latest from her blog. Keep reading to see the whole post.
There's nothing worse than a celebrity feud (aka an on-air, knock-down, drag-out fight) without a decently juicy follow-up. Unfortunately, today's View was all kinds of anti-climactic. Whoopi Goldberg came on a guest host, Barabara said Rosie wasn't fired and was welcome back at anytime. And Elisabeth went on some rambling speech about how she had time to reflect on the art of forgiveness over the long weekend.
Hopefully she'll forgive me for calling SNOOZEFEST on her gabfest. C'mon Lis, stop pretending you and Rosie are a-okay off-set. Even Rosie's given up that charade.
One interesting note, though -- Rosie was removed from the opening credits.
Did anyone catch The View today? What did you think? Were you as bored as me?
After her huge on-air fight with cohost Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Rosie O'Donnell announed Friday she would be leaving The View immediately, instead of when her contract expires in June. What do you think of her decision to leave?
In other Rosie news, her Website is full of all kinds info regarding her departure. In true Rosie fashion, she just can't resist getting the last word and has been busy responding to pretty much every comment from her readers. My personal fave? This exchange:
Fan: "Sorry UR leaving early! I miss U when UR not on so now I wont watch! Best of luck to you!"
Rosie: "dont b sorry/ i am not."
Ahh, now that's the Rosie we all know and love...
So much for my ban on talking about Rosie O'Donnell. Girl just can't stop causing trouble. Despite a previous vow to stop hasseling Elisabeth Hasselbeck after the youngest View cohost announced she was pregnancy, she's back to feuding with the blonde darling. On today's show, Rosie called Elisabeth "cowardly" for not sticking up for her when the media said she had referred to the U.S. troops in Iraq as terrorists. The arguement originally stemmed from a debate last week over the meaning of the word "terrorist." During the debate, Rosie asked, "655,000 Iraqi civilians are dead. Who are the terrorists?"
But Elisabeth wants her fans to know that it'll take a lot more than a heated political debate with Rosie to rattle their off-screen friendship. She told Extra, "I am fine. We are used to debating things there. You have women who care a lot about things." The 29-year-old continued, "The best thing about today is that there's no slow boil, none. It's there, it's an issue, it's dealt with and it's over. If there are tensions, [and] obviously there was, it's dealt with in the moment."
Elisabeth did, however, mention that Thursday morning's show might be a bit, um, uncomfortable. "It'll be a little awkward, I'm sure," she said. "Whenever we have a heated debate, the next day is awkward. I bet we'll talk about some fun things."
Do you believe Rosie and Elisabeth really are friends when the cameras stop rolling? Should Elisabeth have defended Rosie, or is that just the nature of differing opinions? Weigh in below.
Hehe, this is funny: Lindsay Lohan's mother thinks she'd be the perfect person to fill Rosie's shoes on The View. Right, forget Roseanne Barr, Whoopi and even Connie Chung -- Dina would definitely do a better job. I mean, seriously, being a Rockette a zillion years ago totally prepares her for this gig. Does this woman ever give up? Face it, Dina: You're daughter(s) are famous, and you're only in the public eye because we think it's creepy and inappropriate for you to drink with Linds every night of the week.
Actually it might be kinda funny to watch Dina make a fool of herself everyday. What do you think?
Ugh. I'm so, so, so sick of talking about The View!!! But just when I think I can get away with a View-free day, Elisabeth Hasselbeck goes and ruins it. Okay, that was a bit harsh. The 29-year-old co-host announced on today's show that she and hubby Tim are expecting their second child in November.
"I figured that we're going to be lonely without you," Elisabeth said to Rosie on the show. "So, Tim and I thought we should get busy and maybe make a little co-host."
Elisabeth's new addition will join sister Grace, who just turned two.
Congratulations are definitely in order for the couple, but The View appears to be royally screwed. The morning show is soon to be down to just Barbara and Joy -- oy.

Who would you like to see take Elisabeth's place while she's on maternity leave?
Lots going on over with the ladies on The View today. First Rosie announced she's not renewing her contract for next year and then she announced that Alec Baldwin was going to appear on the show on Friday in an interview was filmed today.
Earlier in the week, Rosie expressed sympathy towards Alec saying she too has lost her temper with her children and used expletives with them. I can only imagine what saintly Elisabeth Hasselbeck thought about that.
Anyway, as a result of Rosie being on Team Alec, he called and said he'd love to have a sit down regarding "parental alienation." I don't want to hear about "parental alienation," I want to hear more about this crazy custody battle!
That's the rumor. If that's the case I'll be super pissed as I love that show now that she's on it. She's really stirred it up and got people talking about real issues... and not so important issues.
TMZ is reporting that Rosie will announce her departure as early as today. So make sure you tune in to see it live if it does happen.
The thing about Rosie is for the most part she's done good by that show and the other ladies should be so grateful they've had a job becuase if it weren't for her, that show would've been cancelled in October.
Would you be sad to see Rosie go? Or will you throw a party once she's gone? Talk back below.
What is wrong with Donald Trump and why is he such a publicity monger? Did his parents ignore him when he was a child is that why he is always seeking attention?
What did he do this time? Well The Donald recently sent Rosie O'Donnell's boss, Barbara Walters a pair of Rosie's framed undergarments as a gift... I presume because he was hoping the gals would talk about it on their morning gab fest. Either that or he's a really sucky secret santa.
The underwear that is really more of a "bustier," was Rosie's costume from her role in the film Exit To Eden, back in the '90s. A fan sent it to Trump after winning it at an auction and framing it, but Trump didn't want it because he thought it was "too gross," so he sent it on to Barbara.
When Rosie tried to bring up the odd gift on the show, Barbara wouldn't let her discuss it. Barabara later told page six "I have no desire to continue a feud with Donald Trump."
Someone should probably tell him that.
-Joy Behar who I feel is a little delusional since no one is talking about her EVER! Seriously, someone tell me the last time anyone talked about Joy. It's all Rosie all the time.
In the new TV Guide, Star Jones talks about her new gig with Court TV and her dismissal from the View last year.
And she even talks about her new glasses that I think she's just wearing to look smart. I know that trick, I do that too! Puh-lease, you ain't foolin' anyone Star.
And just for the record, does anyone think her real name is "Star?" Yeah, me neither.
After an embarrassing year in which she got the boot from The View and the ax from Payless, it looks like Star Jones might just end up back on top. The former sh*t disturber on The View has landed her own, daily daytime gig on Court TV, which ironically, is where she got her start. Almost more impressive than her new post, however, is her new look. Girl looks good!
When asked by Access Hollywood if her new look came before her new job, Star said, "Actually the new job came first. The new look sort of came with it at the same time. It sort of developed together."
Even her View-replacement Rosie O'Donnell complimented her recent successes. "We want to wish Star Jones congratulations. She just got a new job with Court TV and she looks beautiful," she said. "She looks wonderful and we wish her all the best."
What do you think of Rosie's new look?
Weigh in with our newest iVote Hollywood poll. Plus, see what others think!

Antonella Barbra can't sing worth a damn in my opinion, but you can't deny that she is a very poised and classy young lady despite all the media attention surrounding some sexy photos out there on the internet. At least that's my opinion.
On Tuesday's The View Rosie O'Donnell openly disapproved of Antonella during Hot Topics and then attacked American Idol producers calling them "racist and weightist." Weightist? My spell check doesn't recognize that word, perhaps because Rosie made it up.
Anyway, she is upset at the producers of AI because they've allowed Antonella to continue to participate in the contest regardless of the photos, meanwhile back in season two they dismissed African American, overweight contestant, Frenchie Davis for the very same offense. Huh, Rosie might have a point.
Now AI Executive Producer, Nigel Lythgoe is fighting back. In a statement yesterday he said:
"Ms. O’Donnell has, once again, spoken without thought or knowledge. Viewers need only look at the show tonight to realize that American Idol constantly confirms to America that talent has nothing to do with weight or color."
I can't believe the two shows with the most drama have now come together to rule the world! Do you think Rosie is right? Should Antonella get the boot? Or will she be shown the door anyway because she kinds sucks? Talk back below.
Last week I told you about the big brouhaha over on The View between Rosie and Elisabeth.
Well, the other day while driving around LA, I heard Elisabeth on my local radio morning show talking about the incident with hosts Valentine and Lisa Foxx.
In the interview she claims she and Rosie "are friends," and even though you would never know it based on how cold they are to each other on the show that they actually "have a lot in common..." like say working at the same place and being women and having ears.
Puh-leaze. If I had friends who spoke to me like that, they would not be my friends for very long, sorry Elisabeth, you can drop the nice act, you hate Rosie, just admit it.
On Wednesday's The View, Rosie and Elisabeth had a knock down drag out fight. No surprise there.
It all started when Elisabeth, who is known for her conservative views, said she thought it was okay for the government to listen in on our phone conversations.
Rosie, known for her liberal leanings replied: "Elisabeth, you are very young and you are very wrong." She then continued to attack Elisabeth about her not knowing anything about life because she's so young. I gotta be honest, she was pretty harsh.
Now Page Six is reporting that Elisabeth left the studio crying and can't take the constant bashing of her beliefs by Rosie.
I feel bad for Elisabeth, she does seem to get bashed a lot by Rosie. And one more thing, I wish she'd spell Elisabeth with a "Z" and not an "S". For some reason it really bugs me.
